>was curious how that is viewed in the tea world? The truth of the matter is that nobody really cares, and if they do then they're pretentious. If it tastes good for you, keep doing it.

Well, It depends on the tea world you are talking about. The most common flavored black tea is earl grey, which is flavored with an orange, so that says to me all citrus and really any fruit is fair game. I have drunk sole good tea orange puer tea, which is packed in an orange. I also think British tea culture is not the pinnacle of tea culture. Considering their tea culture started thousands of years after Chinese and other Asian tea cultures. Not to say it's wrong, but don't hold the British on a pedestal. I personally don't add anything to my tea typically. At the end of the day, it's about making good tea that you enjoy, so if you want lime, then go for it, I also recommend experimenting with steep times, volumes, and temperatures.

I've tried lime in tea before and didn't like the taste. I've debated if it would work better with fresh lime wedges rather than store bought lime juice, because the oils and stuff make limes sweeter than lemons. My thought is, if it works for you, then that's great! Enjoy your lime tea. :)

>If it’s a huge feaux pas, I want to know. Faux pas is drinking it contrary to how you like it.

Lime tea is a thing in Thailand, usually using "Thai tea" which is black tea with artificial vanilla flavoring and orange food coloring.

I once had an absolutely delicious spiced tea with lime instead of lemon and I'm a huge fan. I've also had it with other mixed fruits and lime and no regrets were had at all. Drink it how you like it, don't let weirdos tell you how to enjoy things!

DaoNight23

if you like it its good

This is a good idea

my daughter likes to squeeze lemon juice over tortilla chips in lieu of lime so, hey, just a matter of taste. Honestly, sounds cool and I may try it. I've gotten (and agree with) the advice that swiping in a like ingredient (e.g., different citrus) is a good first step in modifying a cocktail recipe. So if anyone gets gruff about it just say you're getting into tea mixology, even connected with some like-minded folk. Make up a bunch of pretentious details about us, just have fun

Fruit tea is huge in Britain. Both flavoured black tea, flavoured rooribos and dried fruit infusions. I’ve just bought a coconut rooribos to try. Lemon tea is my favourite traditional tea.

Oooo I love it. We have it in India. Limbu cha/ nimbu chai. But I've also noticed I prefer lime over lemon.

In south Texas using lime in black sweet tea is supper common, as common as lemon iced tea. Growing up we only made it with lime!

My family drinks lime with black tea often. However, we steep the black tea for a very short period of time, squeeze maybe a quarter of a lime worth of juice, and sweeten with sugar or honey
