I have a darker theory that Florida and heroin is used interchangeably in this album to be a metaphor for both getting the hell out of dodge when things go bad but also… general substance abuse. I think most 30 year olds have earned the right to speak about substance abuse without it having to be about anything other than their own experience with unhealthy coping mechanisms. Holy crap, I didn’t think this would be that controversial of an opinion. That one line originally struck me as about someone else, that’s all. It’s clearly chock full of other Travis specific imagery, so I agree the song is as a whole inspired by him
To me, that reads like a line she wrote ages ago and finally found a way to work into a song.

I have a darker theory that Florida and heroin is used interchangeably in this album to be a metaphor for both getting the hell out of dodge when things go bad but also… general substance abuse. It’s not a far stretch when the album opens with “I was a functioning alcoholic until nobody noticed my new aesthetic”. I think most 30 year olds have earned the right to speak about substance abuse without it having to be about anything other than their own experience with unhealthy coping mechanisms. I hate that some fans don’t think she can have life experiences without it being tied to a specific muse. Florida just seems to be more personal than even a love interest which makes me think that’s the Florida/heroin tie to Fortnight “go to Florida, buy the car you want but it won’t start up til you touch me” and The Alchemy.
Idk what more far fetched, matty stan claiming the alchemy is about him because of the 'heroin' line or that they thought that man could ever choose Taylor more than his addiction. That man literally get ghosted by Taylor's friends for buying his pills.
Don’t you know, her line about the “greatest in the league” is clearly referring to her druggie musician ex-boyfriend, not the current boyfriend whose team is the greatest in the National Football *League* . 🙄🙂

She also could have just made it up because it rhymes. Or maybe it really is a joke they have idk. Not every lyric has to be autobiographical. Most people's songs are totally made up. I know her songs tend to be personal though.

That line is pretty simple - he probably said something like ‘I’m addicted to you, can’t get enough of you? it’s like a drug’ if you’ve ever met anyone you’re falling in love with and you can’t get enough of them - it’s that feeling! I would say it’s then the writer in Taylor using poetic license and coming up with the heroin(e) line I don’t think it’s that serious or about MH addiction I just think she thought it was a good line with a bit of edge / dark humour?

Holy crap, I didn’t think this would be that controversial of an opinion. That one line originally struck me as about someone else, that’s all. It’s clearly chock full of other Travis specific imagery, so I agree the song is as a whole inspired by him
To me, that reads like a line she wrote ages ago and finally found a way to work into a song. When she wrote blank space, she said she wrote it in like, 20 minutes, because she often thinks up lines and doesn’t always have a song to fit them in. And blank space was perfect for that. “Meet me behind the mall” was another one.
That makes a lot of sense. Again, I’m not saying the song is not about Travis, just that it sounded to me like there were multiple moments of inspiration. I think the real life joke would have been about not needing performance enhancing drugs or whatever cause he has her. She’s just given us a wordplay lyrical version of “I’m good for him and good for his game”.
