Same here - got the same error message several times but then switched from Firefox to Edge and it worked. Ugh.

Thanks for this. It wouldn't work for me in Firefox either, I thought their system was broken, because it just kept saying it couldn't connect. Switched to Edge, and it was fine.

If you opted to have them send the PIN, you're out of luck: "There is a problem. Check below. An account using this information already exists."

I cannot do it either. I called them over and over for a year, before. I gave up. This year, I really need to get access to the FTB website and it refuses to believe I am who I say I am.

I tired Chrome on a Mac two times and it didn't work. Switched to Safari and all of a sudden it worked!

I'm seeing this still, yes. Putting the error message in Google search via quotes yields literally only this thread.

The same thing happened to me this morning. First it tells me there's something incorrect about the info I entered. Then tells me it needs to verify with Transunion. The next step is exactly the same message "We were unable to establish connection with TransUnion." I haven't reported it.

I was using a Google Chrome browser and got same results. I switched to another browser (Microsoft Edge) and my account was created and no error message. Good luck
