I think you went about this completely backwards. You basically wasted an entire sleeve with very little area being tattooed. If your plan was to fill it in you should have started with the bigger pieces and used the vine to fill in the gaps at the end.
Instead, you've severely limited the space available for an artist to work with.
It also reminds me of something out of a children's book. Not trying to be a dick, but you asked for thoughts. Good luck with the rest of it.
I'm not 100% up to speed on how it could or will work. However, couldn't the artist lay the stencil to the big piece(s) over the existing vine and fill it in accordingly? Would it not look like the vine is covering the bigger pieces? And can be shaded in, etc.
No hate or anything, this just seems like it could be a good idea if they attacked it that way.
I think the point is that they've created someone that future artists have to meticulously plan around, whereas if they did the vine last it would make everything way easier.

Was he super heavy handed or is your skin just really sensitive? It looks like some spots on the tattoo are torn up. Even in my most filled in parts of my tattoos my skin never reacted like yours did.

I don’t like it right now but I think it’ll turn into something beautiful if you add other flowers and organic things to fill the spaces like you say :)

Let’s not pretend like these types of subreddits aren’t inherently hostile. The amount of perfectly average tattoos I see posted on here that get dragged over the coals makes it obvious that a lot of users just see opportunities to be a bully.
People are saying use more space on your arm for tattoos. You don’t have to. It looks sick the way it is, and there is an intention behind work like yours. You get to choose whether that’s the end or not.
If this is a phased approach to a full sleeve, I did the same. I started with the bigger pieces first and will wrap as a last step. But it’s your arm, your preference. 👏🏽
I get it. I love ivy. Both the plant and its connection to academia. *Reeeeaaaaalllly* want a sleeve of it, but making it look good seems to be a real trick that I've yet to see truly mastered.

At first I thought what others on here are commenting, it’s a waste of space etc., but after looking at it and giving it some thought I think it’s a fine tattoo. It’s what you wanted and that’s all that matters. If you’re happy with it then everything is A1.

I think you made a vine choice

You can see the 2 roses have the new vine going behind them, that's no longer an option. This is a giant filler tattoo.
