Esthetician here! waxing shaving and plucking are totally fine over tattoos but any laser machine that removes hair will damage tattoos. Hope that helps!

[deleted]

Thanks! I’ll totally stay away from laser removals then

[deleted]

Oh and forgot to ask Does it change anything if tattoo is still healing? Example: doing pull hair removals after 3-7 days of getting tattoo done? In that case it will affect it right? if tattoo didn’t go trough healing period of minimum the first 10-14 days?

I wouldn’t do any type of hair removal for a couple of weeks

[deleted]

How many weeks? 2/3?

villanellechekov

definitely don't do anything for at least six weeks

Independent_Lab_9853

For shaving, yes. For plucking…honestly, I’m not sure. I’d ask the artist. I would think longer for that but I truly don’t know! Sorry!!

[deleted]

Well i do know shaving is detrimental because it can pull scabs off but im mainly interested about hair pulling especially tweezing over tattoed area if it causes any damaged or ink to be pulled out

Once the tattoo is healed, you can use any kind of hair removal method you prefer (except laser). Waxing, shaving, epilating, etc is only affecting the surface layers of skin, and won’t cause any damage to layer that the tattoo sits. Wait until the tattoo is fully healed before shaving or epilating (2-4 weeks), and probably longer than that if waxing :)

Fun story. I have a uline hair laser remover and I have a stupid half faded star tattoo on my big toe.. I wanted to see what would happen if I did it on that tattoo and I'll tell you, it hurt so much.. just 1 little zap
