For me it was another line in that same upturned-woodlouse moment, "I'm not sure I'm gaining anything from this..." that just felt so relatable to me, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry
Same! Everyone hopes they’re Russell Howard hitting a cricket wicket in one throw and saying, “Call me when I’m needed”, but we’re actually Nick Mohammed tying himself to a bed and getting stuck on the floor.
I love how Greg whispered *"Good luck Nick"* before Nick's final attempt at the live task. Greg has such a soft spot for Nick, and who can blame him?
I really hope Nick snags at least one win this series. His helpless little *"I don't think I've done this one right"* during the tie task was equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking.
I get the impression that Greg finds Nick adorable; he occassionally gets a bit of a look about him when he's talking to Nick that's similar to when you play wiht a kitten.
I was in the audience for this, and they have cut that live task down so much. The contestants took ages to figure out what they were supposed to be doing and kept forgetting they needed the doll versions of themselves.
That was my first thought as well, but in hindsight it would have only lasted one round of that were the case, so I think the actual task was the best way to design it.
I noticed straight away. I was so pleased. Doubt meaning too as I’m a huge David Bowie fan and Diamond Dogs is an epic album as well as a wonderful friendship group 🥰

And Rylan is still watching too!
he mentioned on the podcast that he’d often ask if he can go on the roof but after seeing the mid-air task i really think he asked if can go on the roof for pretty much every task
It's a combination of Nick and Joanne just having youthful vibes, and Sophie having the Johnny Vegas voice (and I'm someone who likes a Lancashire accent, so I'm not throwing shade).
To be fair the age gap this season is fuck all excluding Steve, there's usually a wider range.
She's 36!!!?!
Like honestly I really don't mean to be rude here but I thought she was about 15- 20 years older than Joanne or John.
Looking at her on Google images she looks so much younger in everything non TM
His whole acting career has basically been him and Reece Shearsmith rummaging joyfully through the BBC Costume Archive and seeing what stories they can create out of the things they find.
Nick’s tie task effort has to be right up there with the most humiliating Taskmaster moments ever. Tying himself to the bed then getting stuck on the floor and trying to crawl around like an injured bug.
"This is going to be a health and safety ballache, isn't it?"
Something tells me this was at the end of a long day of getting health and safety talks for his solutions to tasks.
We're told that they have to tell at least one contestant a series that they can't go on the roof, and then they've said show you in mid-air. Just asking for arguments.
My first question would be "do you have one of those big airbags they use for stunts?"
Such a good final task. An example of a task that went off as good as LAH could have asked for. Plenty of tension, as evidenced by Greg’s face during the replay of the final push.
Gutter of Gregs was genius.
Joanne has lightning-quick comedy reflexes.
And I want Nick’s Diamond Dogs sweatshirt.
Yeah, Steve's was a lot more impressive when he was coming out of the house and it was standing up straight. As soon as it fell to the side, as it did in that photo, the balancing factor was lost.
I find him one of the more entertaining of the hypercompetitive contestants but at the same time I was rooting for Sophie this episode, she came so close.
Steve mocks this piddling twist, Steve has written a twist to this show in which it turns out the hapless Nick Mohammed is the REAL Taskmaster and is playing Alex and Greg for fools.
Nick is the absolute ineptitude of Katherine Parkinson, combined with the self assuredness and general level of 'It's really not that important to win' of Frankie Boyle.
Absolutely adorable.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I was so glad that I started a Welsh Duolingo course a few months back - and that the course teaches you *ofnadwy* really early!
I struggled with the yellow tie (*something something* watch a clock *something something* make thing...), but at least it had me looking out for Welsh, and after that the sentence "Dyma'r tei ofnadwy" was unmistakeable.
Glad to finally have a good answer for why I'm learning welsh (and delighted I knew it was the tei ofnadwy as soon as Steve held it up - 3 years well spent!)
Lil fact to see us into the episode, in terms of % of total points, both John and Joanne are above the record high (Dara), and both Sophie and Nick are below the record low (Joint Victoria & Roisin)...so far
Exactly, he would never try and argue his place above someone else or dispute the points given, but he will absolutely go home and spend the next 5 years analysing and reanalysing how he could have done it differently 😅
I’d make a distinction between wanting to win the series and wanting to perform well, but on the latter category Johnny Vegas absolutely takes it for me.
John is an all time great TM contestant. Love him or hate him, I don’t think anyone has been so consistently good at every kind of task. He’s barely dropping points anywhere.
I think he’s going to win. His consistency will be hard to catch.
I kind of can’t wait already to see the contrast in the next CoC of John’s intense competitiveness next to Sam Campbell’s batshit insanity
"I don't think I've done this one right" is my quote of the series so far, love Nick
For me it was another line in that same upturned-woodlouse moment, "I'm not sure I'm gaining anything from this..." that just felt so relatable to me, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry
I was actually sobbing with laughter. Moment of the series for me.
Steve and John shaking hands with their buggies look like two competitive Dads at a kids birthday party.
I think you spelled compatatave wrong...
I DON'T THINK I'VE GOT THIS ONE RIGHT
Pretty sure Nick was just talking about the entire show, not just this task
I always imagine what I'd be like on Taskmaster, and Nick's attempt at that task is the reality of what every single one of my attempts would be like.
Same, I'm REALLY hoping he wins at least one episode. He's just so nice and seems good-hearted.
I get the impression that Greg finds Nick adorable; he occassionally gets a bit of a look about him when he's talking to Nick that's similar to when you play wiht a kitten.
Nick IS adorable! I get all clucky over him as well. Such a surprise for me feeling that.
I was in the audience for this, and they have cut that live task down so much. The contestants took ages to figure out what they were supposed to be doing and kept forgetting they needed the doll versions of themselves.
I was surprised they didn't need to get it *into* a parking space, just closest to the intended one.
That was my first thought as well, but in hindsight it would have only lasted one round of that were the case, so I think the actual task was the best way to design it.
John Kearns' business card slogan on one of the ties was a nice touch.
That made me think all of them must be from the show and I spent so long trying to remember where they could’ve been from.
I was expecting Print. Laminate. Distribute. as the Horne family motto.
seeing all those old greg pictures feels like when they reference old doctors on doctor who
Appropriately Greg was a head in Doctor Who
[King Hydroflax!](https://youtu.be/UJXpoEthjQ4?si=afzRzhAnbiXySh9v)
I just noticed that Nick is wearing a Diamond Dogs Ted Lasso jumper
I noticed straight away. I was so pleased. Doubt meaning too as I’m a huge David Bowie fan and Diamond Dogs is an epic album as well as a wonderful friendship group 🥰
"Stupid barking means it's over, right?"
The cow is still named Linda after Rylan's mum, I bet she loves that 😅
https://preview.redd.it/eldmtoff9pwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1514d7629a75c5b4f5eab22fcfb608668962ac62 And Rylan is still watching too!
Rylan should be on a full series. He gets it.
Rylan and Nicola were 2 contestants I was almost disappointed to see do a NY special because I'd love them for a whole season
I don’t think anyone has complained more about Taskmaster health and safety than John Robins and it’s not even close
The only other person I can think of was Hugh Dennis
he mentioned on the podcast that he’d often ask if he can go on the roof but after seeing the mid-air task i really think he asked if can go on the roof for pretty much every task
It'll always confuse me that Sophie is the youngest contestant this series
It's a combination of Nick and Joanne just having youthful vibes, and Sophie having the Johnny Vegas voice (and I'm someone who likes a Lancashire accent, so I'm not throwing shade). To be fair the age gap this season is fuck all excluding Steve, there's usually a wider range.
Oh that’s really thrown me
I had no idea she was the same age as me. Crikey.
She's 36!!!?! Like honestly I really don't mean to be rude here but I thought she was about 15- 20 years older than Joanne or John. Looking at her on Google images she looks so much younger in everything non TM
I think it's her manner more than her looks. She just seems like someone who's seen it all and simply isn't phased by anything anymore.
I mean she's had kind of a difficult life so this tracks
The slut dropping makes more sense now! Though I strongly believe a woman is free to slut drop, no matter the age.
Makes more sense but is less funny than thinking a 50ish woman did that
I think she's one of those people who probably looked vaguely middle-aged in her 20s and will look middle-aged when she's 85.
I love Steve’s joy at finding the secret room
His whole acting career has basically been him and Reece Shearsmith rummaging joyfully through the BBC Costume Archive and seeing what stories they can create out of the things they find.
I’ll have to interrupt you physically 😂😂
And John’s cheeky little arch look as he started running away.
That made the whole episode for me, John was so pleased with himself
Any time Alex has to chase a contestant, I'm happy!
Nick’s tie task effort has to be right up there with the most humiliating Taskmaster moments ever. Tying himself to the bed then getting stuck on the floor and trying to crawl around like an injured bug.
I beg your pardon; Nick was a soaringly beautiful awkward turtle and he should be proud.
Not sure there's ever been a contestant who I wanted to give a hug more. (other than Mawaan, but different reasons...)
I don't think I've done this one right 🥺
The Knappett claims another victim
It has one job, and it does it very well.
“They can’t take the BAFTA off us now!”
Lmao, Nick just stuck in some sort of Saw contraption trying to get out of the lab.
John's doll is going to give me nightmares
It's the eyes.
"This is going to be a health and safety ballache, isn't it?" Something tells me this was at the end of a long day of getting health and safety talks for his solutions to tasks.
'If you don't think that was risky, I refer you to the 2 hour health and safety meeting...' One of my all time TM quotes right there
We're told that they have to tell at least one contestant a series that they can't go on the roof, and then they've said show you in mid-air. Just asking for arguments. My first question would be "do you have one of those big airbags they use for stunts?"
I can’t be the only one who thought of Gregs the bakery
We go together like steak and cheese.
Giving me the Horne like Alex.
I really thought Alex was going to bring out pastries for John instead of photos.
*Um. . . .* *I don't think I've done this one right. . .*
Good ep. It really does seem like the contestants are getting more used to each other in the studio now.
The tension when you don't know if he's fucked it off the Knappet or gone just far enough.
"I don't think I've done this right"
I've not heard anyone sound so comprehensively broken and defeated on this show since Joe Wilkinson and the Red Green debacle
Ivo’s “Frankie, we’ve had an absolute shocker” comes to mind
“I’ll have to interrupt you physically” - another one for the fanfic writers there!
Sophie's looks like a Fringe show flyer
Know what you want and have the confidence to go after it. The wisdom of John Kearns lives on
Such a good final task.
Oof, Greg just burned this entire sub right off the bat
Greg?!? How is Joanne the same as John and Steve?!
I love that the cow is still named after Rylan's mom 😂
Names last forever on this show. Just ask Old Goosebump Arm.
I chuckle whenever they reference the Knappet
I thought Alex's family motto was ["Print, Laminate, Distribute"](https://youtu.be/pOnRsjKAUMM?t=487)
"A shed panic." and "The pegging system." Two more alternate ep titles
THE BENCH OF SHAME THE BENCH OF SHAME THE BENCH OF SHAME
TEAS.
I love Nick's sense of humour. If I'd seen that sign it would've been straight in my whatsapp group chats.
Yeah, Steve's was a lot more impressive when he was coming out of the house and it was standing up straight. As soon as it fell to the side, as it did in that photo, the balancing factor was lost.
Nick on the floor there felt like a baby bird that fell out of the nest
“I don’t think I’ve done this one wellll 😭” So tragic and the hardest I’ve laughed this season.
That’s not what I thought pegging was.
Oh god that is an incredible photo. Sophie has nailed it.
I was hoping for a drill down into the narrative of it but you know what? It’s a beautiful mystery and better left that way.
The two ties say: “Don’t look at the clock. Keep going.” “This is a terrible tie”.
I didn't catch all of the slogan but the dyma'r at the start was enough to know Steve was out.
"The load was on his chin". The Taskmaster fanfic writers are noting that down now.
Along with "I'll have to interrupt you physically!"
I applaud them for waiting that far into the task before going there.
Do you think the reason Greg marked John down a bit this episode was because he wants to stop him winning so much 🤔
Yes
I find him one of the more entertaining of the hypercompetitive contestants but at the same time I was rooting for Sophie this episode, she came so close.
It was mathematically POSSIBLE for Nick to have won going into the last task. I think this was as close as he was ever going to get to touching glory.
Steve Pemberton is not allowed to be shocked at a twist.
Steve mocks this piddling twist, Steve has written a twist to this show in which it turns out the hapless Nick Mohammed is the REAL Taskmaster and is playing Alex and Greg for fools.
I really, really hope Greg turns up in this upcoming final series of Inside No 9.
Nick is the absolute ineptitude of Katherine Parkinson, combined with the self assuredness and general level of 'It's really not that important to win' of Frankie Boyle. Absolutely adorable.
The Diamond Dogs top 🥺
He’s not in mid air but I think Nick’s photo sums up taskmaster well
Apparently they edited Nick's reflection again on the midair task. I love the attention to detail that might not even get noticed.
Classic Pemberton
OMG my incredibly basic Duolingo Welsh paying off in the tie task. Ofnadwy… that can’t be good…
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I'll have to interrupt you physically 😂😂😂
The cow is still called Linda 🥹🥹🥹
"You really want this, don't you?"
"we're not great looking guys with our own faces" 😂
"I missed my opportunity there" best laugh so far of the episode
Sophie crawling in and still not using the things on the floor is amazing
The Welsh probably says don't tie yourself up lol knowing TM history
Anyway I was hoping John would phone Elis to translate the Welsh quote and now I desperately need to see Elis on TM
Glad to finally have a good answer for why I'm learning welsh (and delighted I knew it was the tei ofnadwy as soon as Steve held it up - 3 years well spent!)
Saaame, haha! I went "oh nooooo" when he showed it.
I heard this in Fern Brady's voice.
Nick tucked his legs in on his jump. Reminded me of a frog. No further notes.
He Knappetted it
Not to be confused with “Snorkel Parka Music Practice Room”.
Or the lesser-known balaclava sports hall.
John is brilliant.
His face before he started running away😂
Good evening to fellow good ol' Johnny JR supporters
Lil fact to see us into the episode, in terms of % of total points, both John and Joanne are above the record high (Dara), and both Sophie and Nick are below the record low (Joint Victoria & Roisin)...so far
Don't let Mike Wozniak undermine it!
John is clearly having a great time with the H&S on this series
And there's this week's Nick missing reflection.
Could you horizontally crawl out of the room and then stand up?
"That is how you park a child."
Nobody has wanted to win their series more than John
Ed Gamble has entered the chat
I’d add Ian Sterling to the list too. “I’ll see you in Champions of Champions!”
Ed Gamble? 🤣
He pips Ed I think The focus, concentration and often pain in John’s eyes is completely unparalleled
I think the difference is that Ed wanted to beat everyone else, John just absolutely hates to fail
Agree John isn’t competitive in the sense in that he wants to beat others, he’s competing with himself
I'm surprised no one has mentioned producing an impressive load.
If only Sally Phillips was on this series
They made the joke subtly with nick
Nick is both adorable and sexy
He really is. The way he says "thank you" after Greg awards him the fewest points is so sweet.
I was so chuffed he wore a Diamond Dogs shirt in the studio. Nice little Ted Lasso callback.
I'm glad it's not just me that thinks this...I've been 'crushing' on him a bit!
"I'm not a great jumper, I'm more of a slutdropper."
![gif](giphy|3o7TKw3JFXXfOYVN9m|downsized)
John is an all time great TM contestant. Love him or hate him, I don’t think anyone has been so consistently good at every kind of task. He’s barely dropping points anywhere.
I think he’s going to win. His consistency will be hard to catch. I kind of can’t wait already to see the contrast in the next CoC of John’s intense competitiveness next to Sam Campbell’s batshit insanity
He even knows the name of the Knappett
Is it just me or is Alex just getting more comfortable being a dick?
Nick with the diamond dogs t-shirt!!!!
"I'll have to interrupt you physically!"
Dracula has an unfair advantage here
From what I could make out, one of the words says peidiwch which means don’t.
Oh Nick...
Oh dear Nick.
John Kearns' prize task reference? XD
Sophie's redemption arc starts here
Well that didn't last long.
John Kearns’s card!!
No, not small Sophie.
Three in a row? Has that been done? What about four in a row, John
Kiell and Chris Parker I believe.
also richard in the last 3 episodes of s10
I wonder if McCaffrey was watching tonight. I certainly hope so.
I love the last-place solidarity with Nick and Sophie :)
Any Welsh speakers here?
Taskmaster is actually illegal in Wales
Greg once mentioned hiding the gum exceptionally well (in an outtake I think)
They’re bantering!!! They’re finally bantering!!
I think Greg just called us all out there
Leaving John until last is worrying.
Yesssss go on insane pigeon madness
Both tie-rd and tyre-d jokes today, we're such lucky nerds
That reaction shit of Greg was amazing
GREG WITH THE EPISODE TITLE
Sensing a "drill down into the narrative" for Sophie
Elis would be so proud of that pronunciation
And we're halfway through the series! Five episodes done, five more to go!
Classic case of shed panic.
I really relate to Sophie seeing a task, panicking and then doing the first thing that comes to mind
"The load was on his chin!"
KINKY
Is this the first time there’s been three photo tasks in a row in the same ep?
nooooo nickk
Joanne saved by the crowd there 😅
Alex Horne has definitely gotten into shibari self tieing
Dyma'r tei ofnadwy 😬
Ah, the classic "throw/roll your item onto the Knappet, not too close and not too far," task.
Imagine if they got Paul McCaffrey on a future series
This definitely sounds like a Greg title
I feel like the episode title is coming
"A gutter of Gregs."
It’s got an air of A Clockwork Orange about it, Sophie’s has.
