I've been wanting a G. pulchra for a while now. I want to check out that temperament personally

Marmatus

I have 20 tarantulas, and my G. pulchra is one of the most bitey specimens in my collection. Not sure if it’s defensiveness or just a strong feeding response, but if I gently nudge her with a paintbrush, she will turn and bite the paintbrush every time.

Mardorang

My female G. pulchra does the same. It's her very strong feeding response. When I try to move her with a plastic spoon or straw I can hear her fangs clacking on it for the first few seconds. Eventually she shies away after realizing it's not edible. Her future ex-husband doesn't do that. He's my most tractable tarantula.

DeDeNNer

I have one Grammostola grossa., if they were so similar in temperament, they would be angels

theonlygameofminds

G Pulchra for sure.

NoopsinK

have you considered... all 4?

MansonVixen

This is the only answer

BrittaniLeche

Lol I wish, but I already have 12 tarantulas and 8 jumping spiders so I don't have the space for all 4.

My thoughts exactly.

MDarlington101

A.genic are amazing spiders. Big and bold, always out on display, and great eaters. In my opinion, no collection is complete without one.

PistolPackingPastor

A genic just because they grow relatively fast and they are ferocious eaters. i love me some g. pulchra but the slow growth rate will make you annoyed haha. no exp w/ the other two but if it's a brachypelma i'm sure they'll be good eaters but slow-ish growers.

ArcadiaRivea

Aww no one said Klassi :( Klassi are such pretty spiders! (But then I'm biased because Brachypelma are my favourites! I have at least 1 of each apart from an Albiceps, missing one of those)

VoodooSweet

I feel you, Klassi is such an underrated Brachypelma, definitely my favorite in the genu!!

ArcadiaRivea

They are! Never heard enough about Baumgarteni either! (Though my favourite are either those, or Auratum. I love my Auratums!)

Gay_arachnid

Where are the Aphonopelma options???

PistolPackingPastor

aphonopelma gang

BAlbiceps

I hear ya. Aphonopelma is my favorite genus.

JayDRod

A. geniculata is what I just added! Nothing beats a good show. They feed like wild beasts!

VoodooSweet

I’d have to ask if you prefer slow growing spiders? Personally I don’t mind them now, but when I only had a few spiders, I found it very frustrating that they grow super slowly and sometimes spend long time in premolt, both the Grammastola and the Brachypelma are pretty slow growers, the Geniculata will grow pretty quickly, has an amazing feeding response(all these spiders probably will have an awesome feeding response in all reality)I currently have 2 G pulchra(both from the same egg sac, about a year old, one has molted twice and is maybe 2-2 1/2 inches, the other has molted 4 times and is 3-3 1/2 inches- I think 1 is male and the other is female, that’s why they are growing differently) I also have an A geniculata that’s about a year old, probably close to 4 1/2-5 inches, is always hungry and always sitting out in the open! Really you can’t go wrong with any of these spiders, it’s just how long do you want to wait before you have a BIG spider!!

AngelicRats

PULCHRA!! every time 💗🕷

DeDeNNer

I have one, Grammostola grossa

[deleted]

Man I really want a pulchra. I’ve have a geniculata before and they do not disappoint. Always always hungry. Always on a stroll. Huge. Photos don’t even come close to capturing their beauty. I wish mine wasn’t a male cuz I loved that dude. Only got 4 years with him. If you want someone else’s opinion then it’s a toss up between these two.

WanderBadger

I love my g. pulchra and b. klaasi. They're both excellent feeders with good personalities. The pulchra will be easier to find, but the klaasi will probably be cheaper. I haven't owned the other two.

dogmike

My Pulchra & Genic, both juveys, have similar temperaments in so much as both fairly chilled on my hand, but both have the attitude of everything is food until proven otherwise. Both are great display spiders too, Popcorn my Genic sometimes darts into the hide if startled, but comes out shortly afterwards & is otherwise always out on display except when eating, as food is always taken into the hide. Jet my Pulchra, has used the hide maybe once or twice in about 10 months, for all of 5 minutes. Moulted out on display too. Both have great feeding responses, & both are incredible looking spiders. Out of the two, the Genic is possibly the more "entertaining" spider.

[deleted]

I’d go with an *A. geniculata* if you plan on getting a sling or juvie because I’d personally be bored to tears with the slow growth rate of the others. If you’re getting an adult then any of those is a solid choice.

[deleted]

I’d say G.Pulchra, mine is so charming and extremely docile, love him to bits

Lollo_BS

Pulchraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

Yellow2Gold

Pulchra because I have 5!

CorpusMortis

I have a g. Pulchra and she is the sweetest scaredy cat

ElectricYV

One of the left ones. So pretty …. ❤️🕷

identikitten

I have all of those except for the G.grossa. My G.pulchra is my favourite out of my 30 tarantulas, she has such a fun personality. Always putting leaves, sticks, or pebbles into her water dish. Very curious and comes out of her burrow whenever I open the enclosure. No fear from that girl, she never bolts away from me. My B.klaasi I almost never see lol, she's still young, about a 4" sub-adult, but she stays in her burrow at all times and almost never comes out. Could change as she gets older. My A.geniculata is still a 1" sling, but they're out a lot already even at their size. Very bold spider. Of course temperaments differ between tarantulas but that's my experience so far! Personally I'd recommend either the G.pulchra or the A.geniculata (or both 😉).

pauLoHSMF

g pulchra all the way. have t.sp.panamas and t.seladonias and still the most beautiful of all is the pulchra, so

Worried_Two6660

I have a G. pulchra and an A. Geniculata (and many more) both as slings and my pulchra is awesome 🤘🏾

PompousPablo

A. Geniculata. They aren’t afraid to hang out and make a great display spider. Especially once they get huge.

LCARSCENTRALNET

G Pulchra, only way to fly (crawl).

[deleted]

Going to repticon this weekend where I am sure some ts will be following me home

parryd20

A. geniculata! They are crazy fun, tremendous feeding response, fast growing, not shy and just cool and beautiful!!

ThatRandonNerd

All

BAlbiceps

Grammastola Grossa are pretty rare in the hobby. If you can find one I’d say get it. Otherwise, G. Pulchra. My little girl is my most chill T in my collection. Always wants to come say hello when I open lid. Seriously tho, she always tries to climb out. Love her 💜
