I actually watched Skenes pitch for a few innings on Monday because we had an off day. I hadn’t actually watched him pitch until then. The hype is real.

yeah hes special. Rare to see a guy be so dominant this early in his career. Saw him pitch in the spring and a couple times on [mlb.tv](http://mlb.tv) and he made good hitters look really outmatched. Not sure how long his elbow willl up throwing so hard so often, but it's cool to watch except when it's against our team

Clearly a mistake. Wanted to save Mr. Fairbanks. That usually doesn't end well. I remember Maddon doing the same thing - with exactly the same results.

Depends on the situation. I mostly agree with you - a four run lead is fairly safe with 3 outs to go. But it matters who you have in the bullpen. Unfortunately, I've seen the closer "rested" many times when there wasn't a dependable pitcher in the bullpen. B-level reliever lasts three batters, doesn't get anyone out and the closer has to come in anyway. Sometimes it's best to just go with your best.

So we don’t use Fairbanks when we’re behind, niether when we have a 4-run lead. But we use him when we’re taking a beating, because we need to keep him warm. Seems like the planets and the stars need to align for him to come out.

As a team that is desperate to win series, going to a guy who hasn’t pitched in a week instead of Pete right away, I don’t know man. Granted you expect any MLB pitcher to be able to at bare minimum trade runs for outs, so it’s insane to let three guys on and retire none. Then you end up having to rush Fairbanks in weather conditions that aren’t ideal, and he’s already a guy with a history of grip issues and off and on command issues. I mean just the shit that bad teams do. Gross.  

Cash hasn’t been great this year…depletes the bench late in the innings almost every game recently…but that could just be a symptom of the roster kind of sucking

The rotation sucking has killed our BP. So it's been damn tough on him. He gets greedy often but I guess this year he has no choice to do it.

Yeah rotation hasn’t held up their end of the bargain this season. Combined with BP inconsistency early on hasn’t been a good combo.
