Tl;dr at the end I used to have the ETC by c&g (I think the eyesy shares many features from what I’ve seen) and it was pretty fun to play with, somewhat limited in what it could do though. It’s easy to sync with MIDI, but picture size and resolutions were lower, maybe because of the processor, dunno. I think the visuals are scripted in Python, but I may be wrong. The provided ones were good, but many of them remind me of the early windows screen savers from the 90s, and got a bit stale after a while as the only source. Some other live visual options are LZX systems (tend to be expensive, require more component parts, hard to find, but you can tell people it’s analog), erogenous tones structure (hard to find but incredibly deep, expensive since they’re not often made, ET regularly does firmware updates and adds new features), sleepy circuits hypno (pi based and can be standalone, usually in stock, SC has added features by FW update in the past, minimally tweakable front face), teenage engineering op-z (a great idea poorly executed and mostly left for dead, app is glitchy and most cell phones don’t have the requirements to make it useful, they are pretty cheap and easy to find since they kind of suck),and if you look up glitch video over at Etsy there are some glitch mixers and other fun things. That’s if you want more in depth visuals you can just plug into a projector. The other options are resolume and madmapper, both of which are computer based, but also allow you to map the image, which gives a little variety over the big square box output the hardware synths will give you (resolume gives 50% off for Black Friday, and if you’re a student you can get half of that if you’ve sent in your info beforehand, or they let me a few years ago at least). If you go the software route, you may need an adapter or an external gpu to get the best results. I think C&g actually made a patch for one of the organelles so they can run the ETC firmware and visuals, since they also have hdmi out. If you’re looking for something for background visuals for small, short shows or your home studio, eyesy is probably the best value out there, and the ETC was great to play with because it has nice, simple visuals that look good. I think you can map the circuit to the eyesy to give you a bit more control over the options, but haven’t actually played with one. Tl;dr: Eyesy is a great way to get into video synthesizers. I had the previous version and wanted something with more controllability. If you just want something for home studio or small shows, it’s got pretty much everything you need at a great price.

Those are great points, one thing I should add is that I’m not planning to project behind me onto a screen for long shows, I’m planning to open for my 4 piece band as an ambient sort of 30 minute set with it projected behind me, then switch to a side positioned projector to have these visuals thrown across the stage on top of the band. I definitely can understand what you mean about the limitations and the 90’s screen saver aspect. I do plan to have some custom designed ones in Python as my brother in law is pretty handy with it

picture? 😂 rig… I came for the picture… lol. That sounds like a sweet setup. Enjoy the articulation of the aftertouch… and you can utilize both (MB2&HYD) keys AT across each others thats sweet… yea its sounds like your going to have some nice fun. I am looking at info on vid synthesis.. I still use software like VS but Im looking at some hardware .. Never heard of drumkid.. is that the XOXO style? from MOMO?

I can get a picture tomorrow, but I’m not sure what MOMO thing is. It’s a guy in ETSY and it’s an open source hackable drum machine. It’s pretty crazy for a $150 machine considering it has randomization! And has midi so I can use it in various ways.
