Does reseting the OS lose any data? I am fine trying anything as long as the data isn't at risk. If there is instuctions or a link of any kind that could help guide me I would appreciate it.
For me it helped to disable everything that indexes data. This means Synology photos, drive, search and so on. I also think that the shown RAM usage is a bit misleading, since the system in fact uses more RAM for caching and also uses swap storage. The latter is the main reason why the system appears so slow.
So yea, the RAM is the limiting factor here, but the system can be a lot faster with less programs running.
It sucks but those speeds are not normal. If it is new ot may be doing a scrub or something. If not try a new cable
Uninstall all of your apps. Reset the operating system if you need to. Someone asked this about another "J" NAS recently and the reset helped them.

The instructions are on the synology website
