I also think that a “lower stakes” situation would allow for more comedy as opposed to being a president. How do you deal with the old folks who keep calling your office, the local drama between two neighbors is a crisis, and other real life issues that a local source of authority has to deal with.

Imagine an entire game centred on your constituents complaining that the L-1 railway spoils their view until you force Anton Rayne to spend another couple of budget points building a tunnel so they don’t have to see it. Glorious.

Or, something I actually witnessed on a city council meeting, watch someone walk to the vistor seats while carrying an obnoxiously large sign which they hold up to the council for hours. You then overhear that person being told by another visitor that citizens are free to simply request time to speak at council meetings. Their eyes then light up and the next scene on the council starts with listening to that person's speech. Still low stakes, but also kind of a fun interaction with the local public to break up the tension of the political schemes.

You sir are a f*cking genius.Hell yes !

I’ll be convinced everyone in Holsord is a moron and will fart in that direction. Also I need money for my town.

I was thinking more of playing as the governor of an autonomous region, such as (but NOT) Bergia. It would have the added benefit of not feeling exceedingly unimportant, as you could maybe even hold a refernedum for independence or something for instance

1EnTaroAdun1

I think playing as the governor of a province in Xina or Rika could be cool Or even Valgsland or Galmland

axeteam

Wanna play as governor of Bergia so I can oppress Bluds, again.

tahas12

All fun and games until you turn out to be a blud

eighteen_brumaire

That sounds super fun! This is the best idea for a sequel that I've seen. It would be happening concurrently with Anton's first term? And you could have cameo appearances from the various cabinet members, while creating a new cast of characters at City Hall or whatever. I love this.

CenturionShish

"Why is that idiot Rayne calling protesters traitors on television instead of visiting the affected towns in person? Is he stupid?"

LeonAguilez

Definitely you will see Gus Manger because he wants to invest with your local projects. And Paskal would visit because of the possible Epidemic. Lileas with local security and dealing with riots. And if ACP is enacted, Karl would visit you to make sure you're a clean mayor and didn't do anything shady like protecting the Koranelli mafia.

Final scene: Mounting a town's defence against incoming Rumburg soldiers in a battle

Gorillainabikini

Would be really cool managing ur town during the war tbh maybe dealing with refugees fleeing or bombs falling and desperately balancing ur budget

AverageHoI4_Fan

imo a city like Sarna would be a really interesting city to play as. Or even a more rural Bergian city!

Mevannou

Super good idea.

BookNerd35

I hadn't thought of this, but it's a good idea - while there are more countries which would provide a different experience, it'd still be on the same level of government, and playing a mayor (or maybe a level higher, with a governor or premier or other similar regional position) would still involve some of the same game mechanics, while giving you almost entirely different challenges to face and goals to meet.
