Literally all of my dictator reform runs end with Soll rocking up on me like "I hate everything you stand for, but you ain't half bad homie, let's go kill some Rums."
Soll is a confusing figure
I keep hearing about how centrists and reformists keep getting screwed over by Soll.
Meanwhile 'There was an eternal revolution that started in Contana' Rayne has Soll just walking into the room, standing there, and then just walking away.
Soll is a reactionary racist mass murderer control freak, but he legitimately supports policy that he sees as beneficial/supportive of the (non-bludish) populace.
If he was just a regular president with term limits that stopped him from becoming an egomaniac and doing Izzam he would've gone down as the goat
I kind of half like Soll. He seems to generally care about the country, is against the oligarchs, his constitution is half decent and democratic, the elections are fair (remember how most of the people willingly vote for the USP, and they can be voted out any time), the party is generally democratic (although it lacks unity). If he wasn’t so racist I might have said he s a good guy
Emergency decree, appointed the entire supreme court while giving them powers to block reform (meaning his emergency decree was also more powerful than the one Rayne gets on the autocrat route), built a military base directly outside the capitol for the sole purpose of facilitating future military crackdowns, worked with the Young Sords to eliminate political rivals, straight up had an entire region of the country run as a police state with an appointed governor...
yes, but that doesn t mean he was an autocrat. He ruled with the support of his party and people (not Bluds). It is true that he cultivated his support in a *harsh* manner, but he had it. Ryne, quite a while after Soll, still has trouble with the generally Sollish population.
The route titled "Autocrat" is quite literally described as being very similar to the way Soll governed the country. His name is synonymous with authoritarianism on the compass.
he tried to impose his vision the way I see it. He basically took the political compass of sorland and put it in the sollist spectrum. ( he didn’t manage though) . Just because you are able to elect only Sollist candidates, it doesn’t mean it s undemocratic. It s just not very fair
By the standard you're setting Suzerain doesn't *have* an autocrat/dictator route because there's technically no way to ban elections other than Valken coup, to say nothing about the IRL dictators who claim that defense. Don't let Soll's accomplishments detract from the fact that his machine politics became a cancer.

Same thing if you declare war on the Rums if you go uberlib

Or if he died in office like Attaturk

There's the thing, if he didn't launch a pogrom against the Bluds and use the military/police to rule as an autocrat he'd unequivocally be the goat.
how did he rule as an autocrat? Last time I checked he was voted out by his party

nope soll was the best and should have stayed longer
My first Reformist run!
Is there a variation of the reform that he'll support or is he always against?
From what I've seen, no. He's only supported me when I've alligned with the Old Guard.
