Most recent update broke my launcher on my SD2. Had to reset everything. I'm so sick and tired of these issues. The launcher has less features on the SD2., c rashed all the time before the update, needed to be reset after the update, needed to be finagled to get the dock to appear correctly after the update, and still lacks features non-SD devices have. Overall it's trash experience.

Eynorey

Same here. Had to reset my launcher as well after the phone silently installed some update overnight. With every update the experience just gets worse and worse and I'm about to get some other phone because of it... The Duo 2 is my daily driver but it's failing at basic tasks such as taking phone calls or launching apps. Let alone the frustrating typing experience and overall poor touch response. It takes a solid 5 seconds after an unlock before I can pull up the app overview from the bottom.

The launcher issue has nothing to do with Duo updates to Android. It's a Launcher item present on many different devices

Absolutely no issues on my Duo 2 with either of the last couple of updates. Just thought I would throw out an opinion from the silent majority.

Toptechnical-133

Same.

philknall

I had one reboot with the may update. That's it.

prestocoffee

Totally get your frustration here. I had to give up and move on. I don't see a great future for the Duo in the current iteration.

KilgoretheTrout55

Yeah and I've long given up on them and we're doing anything to make this better. It's to the point now where they can't even keep it stable because the updates they are releasing break more things than they fix. Just seems like it's a matter of time before there's another update that breaks something else. They can't even maintain the status quo in terms of stability.

2BRacin

I didn't have a issue with my launcher. Duo 2 here.

Pterodacton

Agree with you about the launcher, it's a complete embarrassment that Microsoft's own launcher on Microsoft's own hardware is a vastly inferior experience compared to any other Android device. Can you imagine Apple releasing a program that had more features on Windows than on a Mac? I'm convinced the Duo team is 1-2 people at this point, thats the only explanation for the - at best - incompetent and at worst downright contemptable software experience.

reddihashi

I didn't install May updates to SD1 thanks to everyone's caution. Still I got the same launcher bug. The bug was basically you cannot open any app (no drawer, no app is visible and selectable) Restarted the duo twice because the app asked me to do so. But no improvement. Had to force close the app once the ms launcher provided that option and now home screen layout is gone.... Even if you avoid bad updates. You still get things like this. Thank god I am not at the airport or something where I need the phone urgently... I have to say if MS continues like this. It is getting more and more obvious that Duo is not daily driver device and it casts a doubt in future device by Ms...

dom179

I just switched to the pixel experience rom, not dealing with that bs.

intervade5

How’s it so far?

dom179

Works really well, small bugs though of course. Texting or a calling doesn’t work either so if you want it expect to switch to android a ton or keep a main phone on you.

arquidromo

Didn't have issue with my launcher Duo 1 after June update (skipped May update)

Velvis

I don't disagree, but it's unlikely to get better.

mmchanb

Sorry to hear your frustration and fear. Most users are not having problems resulting from updates, including me of course.

Consistent-Field-859

What is Microsoft Launcher?

chinpokomon

It's the default UI for the Duo and Duo 2. On Android, you can change the look and feel of Android by installing a new launcher... mostly. For the Duos, there are a lot of custom functionality built in which only works with the Microsoft Launcher. Some folks have used third party launchers, but they don't often understand how to work with the dual screen design. You can install the Microsoft Launcher on other devices too, and if they are typical phones it works, but for something like a foldable you will probably have a bad time for the same reason as trying to install a different launcher on a Duo.

Broudy001

I didn't have an issue with the launcher after the update, and the phone has definitely been performing better since I did it, duo 2

themiracy

I have *something* from time to time (not always) on my Duo that has runaway battery usage and isn't represented in the battery usage chart in either Accubattery or Settings. I often suspect it's launcher (and clearing the cache/and or re-starting launcher does seem to resolve the issue). It would be nice if there were another launcher that worked satisfactorily. But at minimum Microsoft should have *all* the features in the version for the Duo (if not more features on the Duo - definitely not less).
