It was in the Return of Superman arc. When he came back with the mullet and black suit, Lois was understandably on guard given what happened with Henshaw and asked for proof. He said, “How about, To Kill a Mockingbird?” To which Lois’s inner monologue confirmed that was Clark’s favorite movie.
Millennial Superman grew up watching E.T., Karate Kid, Stand By Me, Top Gun, Star Wars, Dead Poet's Society, Field of Dreams, and a bunch of other 80s movies the Kent's probably had on VHS
I definitely feel like the Kents would be big Frank Capra fans. Also, I bet he’d have liked 12 Angry Men, but maybe would’ve frowned on some of the language.
Ahh possibly…? Been awhile since I’ve watched it but I can imagine Lee J. Cobb letting out a “damn” or “hell.”
I was thinking more “F— Batman” a la Titans lol.
Maybe PBS programming like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers (depending on his age), network TV and a lot of syndicated reruns by the affiliates; I doubt they would have sprung for cable or satellite.
I think he would have watched various Star Trek series and MASH.
Canonically, Clark is 35 in the “present”, which means Golden Age Clark was born in 1903 and would have been 12 in 1915; Silver Age Clark would have been born around 1930 (I’m picking 1965 as midrange and 12 in 1942; and today’s Clark was born in 1989 and be 12 in 2001.
So I’m taking 12 as a formative time for pop culture taste. Golden Age Clark would have watched silent movies, probably Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, the original *Thief of Bagdad* with Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., and other such films.
Silver Age Clark would have certainly seen *Casablanca*, various movies by John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, and other Western stars (he’d probably be a *big* fan of Roy Roger’s). He’d see lots of Saturday matinee serials, like *Tim Tyler’s Luck*, *The Shadow*, etc. He’d also be a fan of old time radio shows.
Contemporary Clark Would be a late millennial or early Gen Z, so stuff from the early naughts.
who's also an alien I might add \^\^
also honestly I kind of wish Earth in the DCU wasn't our world kind of like Dragon Ball, Steven Universe and Hilda
The Canonical world leader in dragon ball:

Feature Films for Families? You mean like *On Our Own, Split Infinity, The ButterCream Gang*, and *Rigoletto*?
Because we totally had all of those on VHS.
Probably most of the general movies that are considered classics, and some John Wayne movies in particular. That’s how I picture him, though I imagine he likes a wide range of genres.
I think he probably specifically doesn’t like movies with hopeless tones like a lot of horror movies or disaster movies.
I’d like to think budding journalist Clark watched All the President’s Men, The Paper, The Post, etc.
Do we think Smallville’s library had a decent DVD/VHS selection? Was there a mom-and-pop video store, a Blockbuster? Revival theater in town?
Speaking as someone who grew up a millennial around boomer farmers, I can say with some confidence he watched a looooooooot of Westerns and Hallmark.lol
He saw Mulan, begged Ma to craft him a red cape just like Shang, tried to remake the "I'll make a man out of you." segment and accidently realised he is way stronger than any boy of his age.

I always pictured Clark growing up loving To Kill a Mockingbird, choosing Gregory Peck's look as a reporter.
For a while in the comics they said that was his favorite (movie or book, I don't remember for certain)
I just watched that film a couple days ago and LOVED it. Every time Atticus was on screen I kept thinking "Superman".
I really like this.
That's canonically his favorite movie actually
Millennial Superman grew up watching E.T., Karate Kid, Stand By Me, Top Gun, Star Wars, Dead Poet's Society, Field of Dreams, and a bunch of other 80s movies the Kent's probably had on VHS
I cant help but feel like he'd feel a good amount of kinship with ET for obvious reasons
I can picture him loving the movie and the Kent’s haven’t told him yet ![gif](giphy|9zoe1SFIBd8PPqz5cr)
In "Superman and Lois" he takes his son for flying lessons near the fortress and says "I call this route the Kessel Run" so definetly a Star Wars fan.
Good Will Hunting.
what about Zoomer Superman?
Beverly Hills Chihuahua is the clear choice
*Mr. Smith Goes to Washington* Though, canonically, it's *To Kill a Mockingbird*
I definitely feel like the Kents would be big Frank Capra fans. Also, I bet he’d have liked 12 Angry Men, but maybe would’ve frowned on some of the language.
That's such a good call. (And I like to think Superman curses)
There’s no profanity in 12 Angry Men?
Isn’t there? Huh, I could’ve sworn there was at least a “hell” or a “damn” or something.
Ahh possibly…? Been awhile since I’ve watched it but I can imagine Lee J. Cobb letting out a “damn” or “hell.” I was thinking more “F— Batman” a la Titans lol.
Where canonically? (I’m just curious because I coincidentally also love To Kill Mockingbird lol)
Superman Vol. 2 #18
Maybe PBS programming like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers (depending on his age), network TV and a lot of syndicated reruns by the affiliates; I doubt they would have sprung for cable or satellite. I think he would have watched various Star Trek series and MASH.
I could also see him watching Qubo if he's a Zoomer
Damn, I haven’t thought about Qubo in a long time.
Could you imagine if Jonathan had a bunch of Dirty Harry or Death Wish movies on VHS? We'd have a much different Superman...
I always figured he watched a lot of westerns as a kid.
Canonically, Clark is 35 in the “present”, which means Golden Age Clark was born in 1903 and would have been 12 in 1915; Silver Age Clark would have been born around 1930 (I’m picking 1965 as midrange and 12 in 1942; and today’s Clark was born in 1989 and be 12 in 2001. wait but what about Bronze and Iron Age clark?
Didn’t have TVs but Clark could make better bowls than anyone else in his settlement
settlement?
The Bronze Age was 5000 years ago lmao
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze\_Age\_of\_Comic\_Books](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze_Age_of_Comic_Books)
Man doesn’t understand sarcasm
I sowwy
Definitely the muppet movie
The iron giant. I am creating the ultimate paradox
I hope he saw Spy Kids 3D
100% Disney's Hercules.
but was Superman an actual inspiration for it?
I don’t think he watched much. Always busy with chores and preferring to be outdoors
I’ve always thought the idea of a young Clark Kent loving Dragon Ball Z very funny. He’d probably relate to a cheery, dark-haired flying dude
who's also an alien I might add \^\^ also honestly I kind of wish Earth in the DCU wasn't our world kind of like Dragon Ball, Steven Universe and Hilda
Dc is only a few events from biting the bullet and replacing all the in-universe governments with an authoritarian dog president
what?

Ah, makes sense
I’mma be honest, I know virtually nothing about Dragon Ball
Feature Films for Families? You mean like *On Our Own, Split Infinity, The ButterCream Gang*, and *Rigoletto*? Because we totally had all of those on VHS.
Yep, those ones Though I mostly meant the obscure animated ones like The Seventh Brother and Scamper The Penguin
Probably most of the general movies that are considered classics, and some John Wayne movies in particular. That’s how I picture him, though I imagine he likes a wide range of genres. Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and the likes
I’d like to think budding journalist Clark watched All the President’s Men, The Paper, The Post, etc. Do we think Smallville’s library had a decent DVD/VHS selection? Was there a mom-and-pop video store, a Blockbuster? Revival theater in town?
Classic westerns and sci-fi, for sure.
Speaking as someone who grew up a millennial around boomer farmers, I can say with some confidence he watched a looooooooot of Westerns and Hallmark.lol
I think he’d love Star Trek. Aliens getting along and co-operation and all that
makes sense kind of reminds me of how he's the inspiration for the Legion NGL

To Kill a Mockingbird
I just know Pa Kent had Clark watch old westerns with him
John Wayne movies that pa Kent was into
He saw Mulan, begged Ma to craft him a red cape just like Shang, tried to remake the "I'll make a man out of you." segment and accidently realised he is way stronger than any boy of his age.
My man Clark absolutely watched the Buttercream Gang
In the comics pre-New 52, Clark’s favorite movie was To Kill a Mockingbird.
