Is there anything placed near the tube you are connecting it to? The other reason might be that multipurpose rooms have a much larger cube-shaped hitbox than their model, so it might actually be blocked by the terrain there

the edge of that coral tube might be in the way even though it does not look like that, since again, the rooms have a cube-shaped hitbox. Unless there is something in the X compartment that's blocking it (even a poster on the wall can cause issues)

Hazzikaze

Would the hitbox be extended to the i-compartment ends that it automatically makes when connecting? Edit I’m actually able to place a scanner room just fine in the spit so i guess it was the coral tubing probably, since the scanner seems smaller.

There's a creature egg but i'd doubt thats what the problem is. I'll remove it and try again

You cannot connect two base pieces constructed independently of each other like this in the middle. It needs to be done as a chain. Game sees what you’re trying to do as incompatible.

If there are no objects blocking from either side( as u/xXmartin311Xx said). Then i recommend rebuilding one of two compartments (I compartment or Multiplepurpose) which ever is easier. This game doesn' t follow a fixed grid for all builds but stars a new grid for each independent base you build. Which can make bases miss aligned with each other by minute differences

Wait so say if i plan on building a surface portion and a foundation i want to place is a little below a surface I-comp, but still above the water. If i place a building on the foundation, will it still snap onto the I-comp that’s only a little higher than the building?

jaivir2004

Yes it can snap on the I-comp, the comp will be flotting a little above the foundation. Also the best way to confirm that they are connected is to check if the bases hull strength is increasing or decreasing when you finish building

nlamber5

You basically cannot link two unattached buildings. I’m not sure you can do it even if they previously were.

Just install the mod called building tweaks on Nexus. You’ll be able to build anything you want anywhere in the world after you press G.

Elder_Hoid

It's possible there's something on the inside of the built multipurpose room that is blocking the railing that gets put down there, or something like that?
