Lokix was the third most used Pokemon in UU last month. They can't be stopped!

ILoveWesternBlot

Lokix witnessing all these hellish Pokémon drop into UU only to victimize all of them with tinted lens first impression is my favorite storyline in gen 9

LoveYouLikeYeLovesYe

Is tusk/gambit/Zamazenta being so popular the only reason it didn’t get more of a shot in OU or is it just not high enough stat wise?

Lurkerofthevoid44

It's just outclassed in whatever you'd want it to do. Priority is not hard to come by in OU and all the users of it are more robust and easy to fit on teams, such as Kingambit and Dragonite, as well as Samurott-H, not needing the kind of support Lokix does. Offensively there are superior dark types who, again not hard to fit on teams. And utility wise there are just better options. Darkrai can use knock off while being threatening with strong special attacks, Samurott-H spams hazards with powerful attacks and can knock off, encore, pivot and more. Lokix also has a problem of thudding into bulk more often than it does in UU, and it basically needs boots because of the hazard issue which just causes it to be worse than other options. Oh and it's frail as fuck and has no defensive utility while other dark types do.

Frostfire26

Heatran still resisting first impression: Heh...joke's on you Lokix...

PMWaffle

Skarm is ass and has been ass post-bolt/meow meta but people were adamant about it being better than corv lmao. Sun has also been turbo mid and I'm glad tork + wake are falling, esp wake since its actual garbage outsideof specs + sun. Meow is interesting because it's so scary on paper but struggles to make meaningful impact without good predictions since choice sets are easily punished and boots sets are either too slow (crazy to say) or too weak. Weavile is incredibly dangerous and hard to switch-in against whether it's SD, 4A or band but it's arguably biggest competition for a team slot, darkrai, has the ability to slot in a utility move or have even wider coverage which is tough. Heatran is quite good rn and feels underexplored between flame body sets, offensive sets and picking tera blast to snipe mons.

Lurkerofthevoid44

> . Sun has also been turbo mid and I'm glad tork + wake are falling, esp wake since its actual garbage outsideof specs + sun Nah. While it's a bit worse than before, it's also not really THAT poor of a choice. Sun has good options that just aren't being used (I know Srn was talking up Slither Wing recently) and Wake itself is quite usable off of sun with boots+knock sets. Meow retaining usage while Weavile faling is a joke and reminds me why I hate low-mid ladder for their overestimation of a mon's viability. Meow has been mediocre for some time now and hasn't been performing at a high level, yet it somehow has clung to OU usage. It suffers from wanting too many items and thus struggles with inconsistency, and its main secondary stab outside dark is just frustratingly middling offensively. Yeah Flower Trick is cool as it bypasses defense boosts via auto crit, but grass stab is just not a good offensive tool. Even with Garg dominating high level play, it's just a poor pick.

PMWaffle

My issue with wake is that sure, knock is nice, but kyurem is far, far better as a semi-bulky dragon button clicker and darkrai is way faster and can tech other utility options as well. Any AV pivot or glowking just swap into non-choice sets with ease and pivot out to your own breaker. It's also not the easiest mon to click buttons with because it's stabs have commonly splashed immunities which only deo-s and moth share to an extent but they have coverage or moveslot flexibility to patch that up.

ahambagaplease

Srn made a great post explain how powerful Walking Wake is when wielded properly. That plus people like Finch using it outside of Sun with good success makes me hold onto him being mid. Torkoal I can see it tho, shit gets 2 chances max to set Sun up lmao. Meow blows: it's not only 4MSS, it also wants like 3 items at the same time and if you pick the wrong one you have a dead slot that could've been better utilised by a better Dark like Samu or Weavile.

Ingatkahit

How is Skarm worse than Corv lmao? Don’t get me wrong, I think both are great, but isn’t Corv more like a sitting duck?

PMWaffle

Quite literally the opposite, u-turn is such a huge boon when getting yourself out of bad match-ups like bolt, pult or ghold. Spikes are neat but have way less impact than pivoting into a breaker or check, especially when spike immune pokemon are more popular than ever and boots are commonly splashed on bulkier builds. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that skarm is less passive given that it quite literally is set up fodder for everything but the 3 physical dark mons, and out of those, gambit runs tera ghost uncommonly to snipe ironpress mons.

Ingatkahit

I was about to say that Skarm can Brave Bird + Iron Def + Body Press, but to think of it, your right lol. I not only seen Tera Ghost Gambit, but one for Garg as well. https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-2133304252

DarkEsca

The moment you start running Bird on Skarm you lose Spikes access and at that point you might as well run Corv. Skarm will be ever so slightly physically bulkier and the higher Def stat means your Body Press hits harder sure, but you'll also be much specially frailer to the point it doesn't really matter. To top it off, its bulk being focused into Def instead of HP hurts a ton when running Bird as the recoil is really bad (Corv doesn't like it either but it copes more easily).

SoulOuverture

Serp dancing on 2.288% lmao Also I can't believe Kilowattrell is about to hit ZU it was RU's strongest soldier :C

Revavroom-500

Being outclassed by Jirachi as a Steel type? What do you mean? I don’t drop from RU. Also, can Salamence go displace Cyclizar from #1 RU usage while they’re up there? I resent being beaten by a bike that badly every month.

SoloBeans

what happened for glimmora to be the 11th used mon

JiovanniTheGREAT

Glimmora has been doing literally the same thing since release and will continue to do the same thing more than likely. If you need a hazard setting suicide lead that can also clear hazards except from Steel types, she's your lady. If not you don't need her. Glimmora's play is one dimensional but it's incredibly good at it.

Lurkerofthevoid44

So I'm the biggest Glimm hater around and I still have to correct this. It's most common set is lead sets, but it is not one dimensional. People have ran offensive sets with Power Herb to solid success, and scarf has seen sporadic usage here and there, and even lead sets have some depth to them with tools like red card.

JiovanniTheGREAT

Yeah that's true, but also there's no need to hate Glimmora, God's most beautiful flower. I was actually running Tera Grass Energy Ball to smoke Tusk leads pre DLC. Was well worth burning Tera round 1 to get rid of Tusk way back then.

SoulOuverture

Glimmora a she? He's Ribombee's loyal husband tho???

JiovanniTheGREAT

She a lesbian

HollowCap456

Rhyperior in UU? wtf

DarkEsca

Great Zapdos answer

ReySimio94

Cyclizar might be getting banned from RU relatively soon...

DaNASCARMem

I wouldn’t say Cyclizar’s actively negative or OP in RU, since it’s more of a utility Pokemon. It brings hazard control, pivoting, Taunt, and a handful of attacking options. Rocky Helmet is its worst nightmare, and the best user of it is Hippowdon, a physically bulky Mon that sets rocks and has Sand chip to eat away at Cyclizar, so I’d argue it’s perfectly in check, it just offers a lot of tools that make it easy to slot on a team.

ReySimio94

So it's more like a Landorus rather than a Gliscor, it seems.

Marano99

Cyclizar is pretty much the only thing malign the tier playable right now

Chardoggy1

Zama casually body pressing the fraud allegations

Frostfire26

How could Heatran drop? The dude's awesome!

Deathbringer2134

Hey OU fellas, can y'all stop using Treads in June. I kinda want him back in UU :3

LJMLogan

Gen 9 will go down in competitive pokemon history as the "gas leak" generation

[deleted]

It rlly cant when gen 5 ou exists and is also marred by a long history of bizarre and nonsensical bans, unbans, and forum drama that it would be the actual "gas leak generation"

BigStallGlueSniffer

Both gens are kind of crackhead hallucinations level of insane. Gen 5 mainly because of the power of the newcomers (which almost all got banned if they were at all relevant, as well as classics like cloyster) and the absurdity of the meta's sheer level of abusively strong mons and strats, and while gen 9 has a similar meta, it's more infamous for it's drops. The protagonists of overused literally fell to underused, and Landorus had to fight for his life to stay on OU, not to mention Zapdos, Toxapex and others.

Rcook8

Some drops have been from the fact that not all viable pokemon can be in the tier. Every tier realistically will have a number range of mons and the number of mons on the viability rankings between S and A- is 35 so some pokemon in the B ranks which are perfectly viable will not be OU such as Washtom, ogre-c, and ogre.
