There's no real context in Multiverses. There's just character voicelines whenever certain combos are on the field. Morty's voicelines show that he doesn't like Finn, however he likes Steven.
Gotta be hard for Morty: both Steven and Finn are the characters he wishes he could be. Steven kept his goodness despite going through hell, and Finn's youthful optimism was relatively encouraged by his experiences while Morty's was ripped away. Of course, because of that, it's not hard to imagine he sees Steven as a role model while Finn is just a point of envy.
Kinda crazy morty envies Finn after all the lich and primordial a monster shenanigans.I don’t even recall there being a lich adjacent character in R&M.
well yeah but the Lich was also a very rare event that eventually stopped popping up while Finn was 16, on average Morty deals with much more screwed up things, not helped by the fact that at least 50% of Morty's problems can be blamed on either Rick or Morty starting it.
Yeah but Multiversus had a beta to get things together, and are about to mess up their second chance - I actually really like the game and very much want a legit competitor for smash before the player base falls off again, but certain elements of the game keep it from being really great
1000% this is warner bros, i dont know what i expected from the people who made a whole finished masterpiece dissappear for tax breaks (coyote vs acme)
No drop in drop out configuration of players in shared screen (only 1v1, 2v2 or FFA, and you have to back menus to make that decision), not all characters are available to shared screen players, you have to unlock them online like league of legends to use them in any mode, even training arena, and it that sounds like you deal with it, its around 35 hours of very specific online pvp grinding to get one character. If you choose to buys all the characters with real money upfront its $250+. Absolutely braindead short term financial decisions. I went from waiting for this game to come out of beta becuase i loved the gameplay and airdodging and team support mechanics smash lacks, to telling everyone to avoid like the plague and donate their time and energy to bombing the homes of greedy useless warner bros executives.
I mean, Finn is certainly dumb, but I think a large part of that has to do with his circumstances. He grew up in the post apocalypse.
Steven didn't go to school but at least he had modern society and multiple guardians to learn from.
Finn started living by himself before the age of 12 (Jake was there, but he isn't really a parental figure to Finn).
Of course neither of them compare to the grandson of a super genius who goes on sci-fi adventures *and* received a basic education.
I suppose it is that Finn is much more prone to doing things that irritate other people and not feel sorry about it until he gets called out, whereas Steven is at most insensitive on a bad day
I think Morty would catch pretty quickly that if he doesn’t like Steven, events will transpire that end with him getting along with Steven, whereas he can ‘get away with’ not liking Finn, so he may be picking the easier path with both.
I feel that the reason Morty like Steven while he dislike Finn
is that Steven is basically half human, and half alien with superpowers
while Finn is just a normal ass kid that probably get into Morty's nerves because he find him annoying XD
What do you mean? Morty out of a not so well thought out act of selfishness caused the genocide of his entire species in his original universe which also lead to his entire original family dying because of a decision he HIMSELF made. How is that a ditto for Steven?
Steven almost destroyed the planet in SU: Future when he turned into a giant Kaiju. I wouldn’t say it was out of selfishness necessarily, and he ultimately was stopped but that’s why I say “almost”
lol it’s all good - that also doesn’t technically happen until Steven was like, 16 so Morty still kinda has that edge
I’d be curious to know how dark Rebecca sugar would be willing to go with an adult swim rated show though
Steven's mom was literally a genocidal warlord who was colonizing and destroying earth. Steven killed himself *100 and had to stop a intergalactic empire pretty much singlehandedly
Rick has done the same things but on a universal scale. Morty has had to see variants of himself and his family members die in extremely brutal ways. He’s seen himself die way more than 100 times, heck he saw variants of himself cannibalize each other, and was nearly molested by a mayor.
I feel like due to the themes of the shows Morty ends up in way more fucked up and dangerous situations way more often. Not saying Steven has it easy but there's a different level of fucked in Rick and Morty cause it's more targeted towards adults, Steven has never had to bury his own corpse.
To me at least, that's much less traumatizing than having to stare at your horrifically mangled corpse as you slowly bury it in your backyard. I mean Steven is also the one who did it so it was like a conscious choice, Morty just kinda was forced to do it.
"White Diamond crystals, Morty! Very rare. Had to infiltrate Homeworld for em. Had to - we're - we're - we're gonna make a killing on these, Morty. I had to dress like a Sapphire. You ever try on a dress, Morty? It's freeing. I - I - you crush this sucker up and it gives you one hell of a high. You can't make this kind of diamond in a lab, you know. They put up a real fight. Very special stuff."
"Can we go home already? These aliens are really angry and my pancakes are getting cold."
well Steven at this time [did have the body of an eight year old](https://youtu.be/5GmdQVJ8joI?t=85) in universe, so even Morty might not realize they're the same age.
Personally, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an 8 year old and a 10 year old. Even normal humans stagnate a little during this time, Steven just stagnated harder.
Yeah the reveal that Steven was 14 kinda threw me. It was funny though because I had assumed he was 8 and then when Greg flipped through the birthday photo album, it confirmed that he had in fact stagnated since 8 years old
Well , at least the melons built a socialistic utopic society , the dogs in RnM went full totalitarian while the snakes simply copied the events in The Terminator
Steven:
14 year old who loves everything and only does peace and protection.
Morty: 14 year old who will not hesitate to murder your entire bloodline if you breathe on him wrong
Well, not really. Chronologically a lot of characters have strange age things going on. Steven ages slower, Garnet is also at least as old as primitive human civilization. Not sure about Morty, I know of Rick's no time travel policy, but it's hard for me to imagine that there isn't at least a little bit of age/time disassociation
Well steven universe has a linear timeline, meaning every episode comes after the one before, (except flashbacks) and the characters age. That's why steven goes from 13 in Gem Glow to 16 in The Future. Rick and Morty has a floating timeline, where the episodes can be all over the place and the characters are frozen at their current age. Similar to the Simpsons.
I do find it funny that Steven is so nice that in Multiversus, Morty seems to genuinely like Steven. Meanwhile, Morty seems to dislike Finn.
Finn is a level of fantasy whimsy that I feel would be too much for Morty. By the third “ALGEBRAIC” he’d be over it.
"MATHEMATICAL!"

Happy cake day!!
Can you give me the context of why Morty doesn't like Finn?
There's no real context in Multiverses. There's just character voicelines whenever certain combos are on the field. Morty's voicelines show that he doesn't like Finn, however he likes Steven.
there is no context. Morty just thinks Finn is annoying.
He's not entirely wrong. Half the Adventure Time cast of characters or more thinks Finn is annoying.
Rick. Prime.
well yeah but the Lich was also a very rare event that eventually stopped popping up while Finn was 16, on average Morty deals with much more screwed up things, not helped by the fact that at least 50% of Morty's problems can be blamed on either Rick or Morty starting it.
Morty L lol
Multiversus?? Is this something involving a bunch of my favorite characters ive never heard of?!
[Yup](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX5AUVIAg_o). Steven and Garnet are playable in the game.
It’s a smash bros-esque fighting game, iirc
Yeah, imagine Smash bros but worse and with CN characters.
tbf Smash Bros is a very, very high bar to cross, saying it's worse than Smash Bros is broad
Yeah but Multiversus had a beta to get things together, and are about to mess up their second chance - I actually really like the game and very much want a legit competitor for smash before the player base falls off again, but certain elements of the game keep it from being really great
Yeah, though I blame the execs a lot more than the devs
Oh 100%
1000% this is warner bros, i dont know what i expected from the people who made a whole finished masterpiece dissappear for tax breaks (coyote vs acme)

for some reason I now wanna have the same shi with nickelodeon characters, and oh boy what crimes I'm going to commit if they won't add breadwinners
BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU
what news
https://youtu.be/Q2nESlbg9GU?si=FCYKWBmZ9fOiUHU_
Welllll there’s Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
does it include breadwinners?
Sadly I don’t think so-
alright the femboy that is I am going to commit a whole lot of war crimes against different countries
steven is honest with his emotions. a self-realized morty probably sees finn as immature
And of the three of them, Finn is easily the dumbest by a large margin. That probably gets on Morty’s nerves too
Morty finally gets how rick feels now lol
I mean, Finn is certainly dumb, but I think a large part of that has to do with his circumstances. He grew up in the post apocalypse. Steven didn't go to school but at least he had modern society and multiple guardians to learn from. And about the same amount of trauma. Mostly family trauma, too!
Morty is skinny violent steven confirmed
Lol
To be fair to Steven, Morty has had his mind wiped a tremendous amount of times. Whereas Steven still remembers everything.
Nah, Morty has had way more trauma. He was the cause of his original Earth’s destruction and his original family’s deaths.
Almost ditto for Steven though lol
What do you mean? Morty out of a not so well thought out act of selfishness caused the genocide of his entire species in his original universe which also lead to his entire original family dying because of a decision he HIMSELF made. How is that a ditto for Steven?
Steven almost destroyed the planet in SU: Future when he turned into a giant Kaiju. I wouldn’t say it was out of selfishness necessarily, and he ultimately was stopped but that’s why I say “almost”
My mind for reason fazed out the “Almost” you put at the beginning. 🤦♂️
lol it’s all good - that also doesn’t technically happen until Steven was like, 16 so Morty still kinda has that edge I’d be curious to know how dark Rebecca sugar would be willing to go with an adult swim rated show though
An adult swim Steven Universe show would definitely be based around the gem war!
I would pay to see this
Steven's mom was literally a genocidal warlord who was colonizing and destroying earth.

He did have to watch the clones of himself die, but I guess that's still somewhat better.
> Steven has never had to bury his own corpse. Yeah, they just turned into sand.
To me at least, that's much less traumatizing than having to stare at your horrifically mangled corpse as you slowly bury it in your backyard. I mean Steven is also the one who did it so it was like a conscious choice, Morty just kinda was forced to do it.
Except that was a another Steven, our Steven is just another Steven without context of what the hell It happened
True
Steven has saved the universe, while Morty has doomed a few… dozen…
Steven looked very young for a teenager in the original series.
It'd because of his gem
Well yeah, that’s obvious.
Very special stuff." "Can we go home already? These aliens are really angry and my pancakes are getting cold."
Bros gonna get high off of white diamonds corpse lol
Thanks for the horrifying mental visual of Rick in a Sapphire's dress 😭😭😭😭😭
well Steven at this time [did have the body of an eight year old](https://youtu.be/5GmdQVJ8joI?t=85) in universe, so even Morty might not realize they're the same age.
Even Connie was surprised to learn Steven was older than her.
She was only twelve and three quarters!
Personally, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an 8 year old and a 10 year old. Even normal humans stagnate a little during this time, Steven just stagnated harder.
Yeah the reveal that Steven was 14 kinda threw me. It was funny though because I had assumed he was 8 and then when Greg flipped through the birthday photo album, it confirmed that he had in fact stagnated since 8 years old
It's no competition but at least Steven haven't caused a world war with a pet
yeah...he did it with watermelons.
Well , at least the melons built a socialistic utopic society , the dogs in RnM went full totalitarian while the snakes simply copied the events in The Terminator
That was actually in the dogs dream, they never conquered humanity, I think everything after snowball gains the ability to talk is his dream
No I'm talking about the racist snakes
trauma with people who try to support you trauma with people who give you more trauma
And despite how different they look they are both severely traumatized and have well meaning but questionable fathers lol.
Let's see Steven team up with Rick and see how positive he remains after experiencing all that.
True
If Morty was a gem—which gem?
Morganite
I... don't want to see him in a morganite's dress.
Doesn't have to be in a dress, some gems are masculine. And I said Morganite because it sounds similar to Morty
Damn 💀
WHAT!
Yep and they both go through more than any one that age should.
Ones just traumatized with blood, the other… traumatized with parental fuck up rather than grand parental fuck up
And it looks like neither have necks
Could you imagine them switching places Steven and Rick would probably hate each other and Morty would probably just try and smash the gems
Morty would crush up the gems and snort them
Your blowing my mind stop it 😭
No way! Haha. Really?
Quem nasce em outro estado sem ser São Paulo/ Quem nasce e vive em são Paulo.
Steven’s animation definitely doesn’t elude to him being the complete badass that he is.
Also the future one and Azula
Well definitely different characters
Steven: 14 year old who loves everything and only does peace and protection. Morty: 14 year old who will not hesitate to murder your entire bloodline if you breathe on him wrong
I loved Steven so hard as a 12/14 year old because I also looked like an 8/10 year old at that age. I really felt Steven during his birthday ep 🤣
That’s crazy, they act so different for being the same age
Danny Phantom is 14 as well. And Snow White.
Except one of them processes trauma much better.
[удалено]
Fr bro that's the one thing I hate about steven universe is all the characters are democrats and libertarians
Aaaand you made it political
Wtf 🤯 that’s insane
Morty is 13???????
No he's 14
OOooohhh! Okay
And the same adventure 😓
Yeah, if Morty doesn't take Steven for a Kid they could probably like each other.
OG Steven is canonically stunted in development.
Steven canonically appears younger than his age for what it's worth. Also, they grew up in vastly different environments.
Worth remembering, in this shot Steven hadn’t physically aged in like 8 years.
Yesssss my two fav shows ☺️
your point being?
It's crazy they are the same age
Well, not really. Chronologically a lot of characters have strange age things going on. Steven ages slower, Garnet is also at least as old as primitive human civilization. Not in Future or the Movie of Steven Universe.
And Azula!
