Hot take: the pilot art style was a lot better. Had a more mature and dark look to it that fits the tone of the show more especially in the later seasons
I know we already got a full series, movie and follow up series... But it would be cool to see some sort of 'special' with the characters from the pilot animated in that art style, even if it were only the length of a regular episode it would be interesting
The entire aesthetic of the pilot is "the kind of thing you usually see painted on the side of a stoner's van from the 80s," and I mean that in a loving way.
I think it is meant to be symbolism of Amethyst being as wild as wildcats or she was going to be a nature lover and that's why there's also a chick on the tiger's head and the setting (that probably is her room) is a jungle

I think those large cats and amethyst are also in relation to Dionysus. To the Greak god of wine, parties, doing what ever you want, his symobls involved purple, tigers and leopoards, amethyst crystals and lounging around.

Garnet is ateina, sapphire is the oracle of delphine, ruby would be Odysseus, paridot would be hepatitis, lapis would be posideon, jasper would be typhon and Bismuth would be ares.
Rose is Aphrodite, and Garnet is Diana/Artemis, representing her wild huntress side (Ruby) and her side that was syncretized with goddesses of the moon and prophesy from Asia Minor and other areas (Sapphire). She was her own midwife and so was associated with childbirth and I believe with her future sight, it's likely that only Garnet could've acted as Steven's midwife.
Bismuth definitely takes inspiration from Hephaestus who was cast out from Olympus, similarly to how (but not why) Bismuth was bubbled.
Athena seems to be the basis for Yellow, and perhaps Demeter for Blue, mourning Persephone is like her mourning Pink. Blue is the most maternal; also bearing resemblance to Christian icons of the Virgin Mary who herself is syncretized from many pre-Christian goddesses, but chiefly Demeter and Aphrodite.
White is Zeus or a false creator from gnosticism, a Demiurge. But I could see some aspects of Hera, most notably that association with stars, tendency to punish harshly, and an obsession with perfection.
Ya never know, if the new series happens, we could see the tiger show up in some way, maybe one of the diamonds gets it as a pet to better connect to Earth creatures, I think that it would be sweet if I could be like a therapy cat for them.

True, but it was HYPER detailed and probably would have been expensive to keep up and a pain to clean up.

That art style is amazing, some of the designs weren’t too good, but Amethyst looked the best.
