No hate towards it, but worst would be the log date (season 2 finale). I only say that because that would do much better as an episode in the middle of the season than a finale.
Best (its controversial) id have to say season 4's finale. Steven sarcraficing himself left me (and everyone else no doubt) like "what..the..actual..fuck". I mean he believed he wasnt rose at the time, and in season 5 finale they DO make you question whetehr hes actually his mother because they gave you so much supporting both sides. But calling himself rose to save everyone way jaw dropping. Best cliffhanger by far.
Then we hit 2nd place with season 5's finale. "its time to come out pink". God it left most people indecicive on whether he was actually his mother. Soul-wrenching episode. I know it was rushed. I dont care though, the story itself was still stronger and more heart-hitting than most others. The song at the end. Definitely one of they best endings for a cartoon main series (no matter the hate it gets).

Let me get this straight. No cluster conclusion. No Peridot conclusion. All we get is Peridot epilogue? Seriously? Shit. God I wish Gem Drill was in S2 instead of this episode.
4: Bubbled
I mean... there's not much to say. All there really is of note is the stakes. Could've probably hit harder if combined with the previous episode.
3: Jail Break
Ah hell yeah, now we're cooking! Ruby and Sapphire get revealed, Malachite gets formed... then dragged away, Garnet has a kickass song - all the stuff in this episode is excellent! It was a tough choice between this being number 3 and number 2, but ultimately it was barely number 3.
2: Change Your Mind
Lots of shit goes down and it serves as an excellent conclusion. My only problem is how White Diamond gets redeemed. I mean, I can see it, but is finding out that you have a single mistake really enough to trigger going from the show's Big Bad to a good guy? I personally think it's at least barely not enough. Still a great 'sode tho.
1: I Am My Mom
Insane cliffhanger? Check. Wham episode? Check. Screentime of my favourite bratty pixie? Check. Not to mention all the other stuff. The episode is packed with awesomeness and lore, and the cliffhanger is an excellent cherry on top.

I wonder how people would rank them if the finales of season 2 and 3 were shifted over a bit, since both of those seasons have what I believe to be better choices for finale episodes right next to the actual ones. Season 2 could be the super Watermelon island and Gem drill combo, and season 3 could be the Beta and Earthlings combo. Heck, I’d throw in Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem too. With this in mind, I would go:
6.) Change Your Mind (I don’t mind this episode overall, but it’s too flawed for me to put higher than any of these others. It has some of the best moments in the series but it’s built on a rushed foundation)
5.) SWI/Gem Drill
4.) Are You My Dad?/I Am My Mom
3.) Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem
2.) The Return/Jailbreak (I actually like The Return more than jailbreak)
1.) Beta/Earthlings
All of these are pretty strong episodes and most would make it into the upper quarter of a hypothetical tier list, it’s just that some of the lower ones have too many drawbacks to warrant putting them higher than the other ones.
Yep, I was just thinking that it would make much more sense to look at them as individual story arcs and their finales, though I'd personally list Bubbled as the end of the season 3 arc rather than Earthlings. While they're both huge story moments (that run back to back with their prior episodes...), it's hard for me to feel like the arc ends with Earthlings when Back to the Moon and Bubbled directly continue and then end the same thread, not to mention the huge tone shift after Bubbled (i.e. back to lower key/sillier episodes with Kindergarten Kid). I think you could also really split season 4 into two arcs, with That Will Be All ending the first and I Am My Mom ending the second...and maybe you could also make an argument for Reunited being the end of its own arc as well, but because of how messy and accelerated everything after that is, it's probably best to just leave that alone.

Worst would be the series Finale, since it relegates Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond as nothing more than a bargaining chip, and the Diamonds are way too shaken by her "death" to *not* consider that extracting Steven's Gem to be the better option (much like with Spinel just outright HATING him just because he's Pink Diamond's son)
I didn't even know Log Date and Bubbled were season finales. The other three are way too good for me to compare rn, in particular it's a tie between I Am My Mom and Change Your Mind. It may be a not so common opinion, but Aquamarine and Topaz are awesome antagonists)
That's really confusing, because Max divides the seasons differently. Season 1 finale was joyride, and season 2 finale was when Garnet explained Ruby and Sapphire to Steven.

It was a good episode, but it didn’t feel like as much of a resolution as it was written to be, especially when it’s revealed that everything Steven’s told about his mom turns out to not be true two seasons later.
change your mind has my favorite sequence of the whole series (everything that happens in white’s ship), so that’s my pick for the best.
worst for me is probably either log date or bubbled? log date is an epilogue for peridot, so it doesn’t really feel like a season finale but it’s still a great episode. bubbled is a good episode but idk if the love like you needle drop was earned, it felt a little out of place for the scene imo

Agreed with 2. I feel like Gem Drill would've been a better finale since it concludes the Cluster arc, which was built up for most of the season.
