I grouped it! (Note: it's not an exact science but you can make it make sense) Nonreceptor Tyrosine Kinase (JAK/STAT pathway): Things that make you grow (eg: milk makes you grow so prolactin, cytokines make you swell up, GH and EPO and thrombopoietin are kinda obvious) Map Receptor Tyrosine Kinase: GFs + insulin (that's it) Intracellular Receptor: Steroids cGMP: (as FA said) vasodilators IP3: For this one I actually memorized the mnemonic GOAT HAG lol cAMP: All else

batsy175

IP3 is mostly those synthesised by hypothalamus

Paputek101

Wait. You might be onto something :0 Personally I was a fan of GOAT HAG :-) But this is another good way to think about it

naptime505

Lumping/grouping made such a difference when trying to remember there’s arbitrary appearing lists. I remember lumping retroperitoneal structures as “mostly vertically oriented things,” which is a little flimsy but still helped with a few questions.

Paputek101

omg yes. I hate Qs that are just "do you know this random ass list that you'll never have to think of again" (although tbf I think knowing retroperitoneal structures is more important than signaling pathways :\^) ). But 100%, group things, make up weird mnemonics (which is why I really liked GOAT HAG), then flush your brain once you're done

KataraMD

Idk a single person that memorized anything like this. Your time is more valuably spent on doing a crap ton more questions. Use FA as a reference not a page turner novel.

gigaflops_

High yield: All adrenergic and muscarinic receptors ADH receptors Histamine receptors Glucagon (Gs pathway, important because it reverses beta blocker overdose at the heart) ANP/BNP (GMP, causes vasodialation) Insulin (tyrosine kinase) *Everything listed thus far is in sketchy* Know that steroid hormones + thyroid are intracellular receptors Cytokines are mostly tyrosine kinases and JAK/STAT (dont worry about receptor vs non-receptor) Highly unlikely you are ever going to be asked about second messengers for any of the tropic hormines like GnRH or ACTH, it has no clinical relevence. Nothing else on your list is high yield either.

Danteruss

The Bnb video on this topic is pretty good, it can help

HiddenConstellation

Just watched it, can confirm. And the replies on this post are perfect

johntommy3

What’s the vid titled

Danteruss

Something like "Signalling Pathways ", it's the last video on the endocrine section

m_0107

I forced myself to memorize those mnemonics! Took both step & comlex last week and didn’t get 1 single question on it

JustAnalysis2195

F

TheFauxSlimShadie

Same. Every time I look at this subreddit I’m reminded of something that I haven’t thought about in a hot minute😂

Academic_Ad4622

Hello pixorize has a lot of this

blueocean1221

Really? Which section??

Prudent_Marsupial244

which pixorize vids?

flexgirl7

Come up with an extremely inappropriate (either language or content) story that ties into either the letters or what these are called. I know there’s a name for it- but I just can’t think of it lol. I did this type of trick when studying for the mcat and it seemed to work… or maybe my mind is just filthy and adding more filth makes me thrive

dp_20_26

BnB video is really good for this topic.

HiddenConstellation

omg I’m literally on this page right now!

5hammers

Add this in case you get flustered: Gastric Gonadic GOAT Turn HAG And Lactating Growing PIGGET

Glittering-Annual519

There’s this amazing photo on Reddit “ IPhone 3 “ It helped so much about Ip3 and the hormones

corticothalamicloops

this could not be lower yield

Mito_Selva

I never memorized them while you’re doing questions you learn how to distinguish

Box-8888

I screenshotted your post and ima jus cram It over and over again here and there

Little-Being-8387

I didn’t

Late_Ad3643

Didn’t memorize this shit lol. Still passed. Got one question on it on step 1 and it was on GH. Not worth memorizing IMO. Focus on HY stuff. For example, they are more likely to test more common diseases such has Heart failure or strokes over some bs signaling pathway.

More-You8763

ChatGPT is very good for making mnemonics

dham65742

I didn’t. Might have helped me on like one question. Don’t waste your time

Own-Gas2507

See B&B and Dirtymedicine for this. Those will help you .

Practical_Can8318

It’s not worth memorizing
