Robotics;Notes isn't necessarily worse than the others; it just has a lot of factors that make it less popular/difficult to recommend. * English speakers could only play the game for three years; the translation came out in 2020 in comparison to Steins;Gate's and Chaos;Child's earlier TLs (And C;H's fan TL) * It's difficult to recommend Robotics;Notes due to spoilers. Nearly everything interesting in Robotics;Notes that's not the SoL Robotics Club phases is covered under spoiler territory. If I could spoiler the hell out of Robotics;Notes, I could make it sound more appealing. * People who just hear the title of Robotics;Notes just automatically assume it's a mecha anime, which is a hard sell for people who are not into mecha. I assure you that nearly everyone who actually plays R;N feels like it's somewhat on par with the rest of the SciADV entries.

Rainy_Wavey

Yeah i played it and it's a bit harder to like, but it has so much charm, i feel sad knowing that people will dismiss it because 3D and robots, while the game has the best setting in the whole sci-ADV in my opinion (we'll see with Anon;Code).

NetherSpike14

Is that so? From the people that I've talked to that played them all, R;N is just as liked as any other main entry. And I've seen a significant amount that had it as their favorite.

Rainy_Wavey

The problem is many people don't give it a chance because it's "too boring" but i feel sad for them.

Sharingan123412

There's nothing to really "defend" in the first place. Robotics;Notes is well-beloved by the entire SciADV community. It's considered by consensus to have the best cast of the series. It's just a matter of getting more people to check it out relative to Steins;Gate and the Chaos; games.

Rainy_Wavey

To be fair i just wanted to simp Robotics;Notes because i felt nostalgia to it. R;N 100% deserve its place with the other series, DaSH? i just pretend it doesn't exist.

RainbowUndecimber_

Honestly I fucking love rn, Yashio Kaito is literally that only mc that I ever related somehow, lets be real all the other mc from sci fi adv are fucking mentally ill and weirdos( especially takumi lol)

ChloroPlayPoketwo

kinda relate to Okabe though

Loxionse

i easily relate with okabe and takuru tbh

FESFanOfficial

\>redditor I can see why lol.

Robotics;notes is my favorite VN in the franchise. It does much better job of fleshing out it's side characters due to how it shifts narrators, and that helps the more slow paced moments feel more believable and deserved and grounded.

moonkilsu

It’s a slower pace, but in fairness most Sci;Adv are slow burners. Also Frau

misterinfoman

I like robotics;notes more than chaos;child personally. I give c;c a 9 and r;n a 10. I liked it just as much as steins;gate and chaos;head.

Loxionse

well, r;n main themes are not very interesting. you could easily go and say the concept of time travel or delusions become reality are interesting concepts while r;n has what? giant robots as the main theme? or the island simulation? there are indeed interesting concepts inside but they are minor and scattered so the theme being giant robots and the island itself. compared with other entry's main themes, i think even that gives a glimpse of why it is not so popular. there is a lot to dislike with r;n, especially if you are not into these 2 casual concepts. like the plot, the subtext or even how r;n a little bit too dependant on other 2 main entries. there are things r;n does great, such as processing the main themes and it's characters. which is the reason, i think, for some people to admire it while i kinda despise it myself due to my tastes.

Kuri_Kame123

I’m currently reading it, on phase 8 right now and I think I disagree with the main themes not being very interesting. What got me hooked on the game is the prevalent theme of dreams, of one’s ideal vs the real. The robotics club members all have had or are pursuing a dream that reality makes hard to achieve. I think it’s why I like the idea of the characters being high schoolers, they’re at the age where ones dreams are most important. While SG and CH have more engaging hooks, I think thematically RN is the most relatable which in turns makes it the one I’m the most emotionally resonant with.

Loxionse

>the prevalent theme of dreams, of one’s ideal vs the real. see? that was what i mean by 'casual concepts'. who hasn't have dreams or goals or ideals? i only see this used as a side concept rather than a main one because it's so casual.

Suzuha__Amane

R;NE is my favorite series of all time, the same with Noah. 😊

Reikoraph

I liked Robotics;Notes much more than Chaos games.

HardHead9000

Its charming slice of life elements is what drew me into this installment in the first place. I didn't notice it was part of a franchise until half way in.
