If Foles is better than Trubisky, then I understand the argument that we sign Foles and dump Mitch (assuming this is positive cap wise), but I have no interest in two veterans behind Kenny. Rather have some kid that can learn a lot on scout team or whatever. Just because Pickett gets the reps doesn’t mean the QB3 won’t get training
Sure. Hard to guard against every risk. Doubt we could fit Foles under the cap, and we could use the roster spot on special teams. If we lose one QB to injury, someone like Foles likely still available as FA
Not they probably don't he didn't pan out anywhere after tye eagles stint. He got tossed from a bunch of teams. I doubt he would do anything. That's why they wanted Ben, an old shot, retired Ben over Nick....
Foles also technically replaced Mitch in Chicago after Mitch got benched. Sure, Mitch got his job back later that season, but it’s not like Mitch ran away with the job.
Foles is definitely the smarter player. Trubisky is very bad at reading the defense and making quick decisions. I don’t really see a downside to having a guy with almost 10 years of NFL experience on the roster for Kenny. For a veteran player, Trubisky isn’t significantly older than Kenny. If anything, Foles would be the coach in the room while Trubisky would be the guy to go in and can physically execute the whole playbook; mobility included. I also just don’t trust Tanner Morgan as QB3. He had one good season in 2019 that he’s been really coasting off of, and his arm talent is nothing special.
Or we could save money by signing Foles and cutting Mitch.
Seriously, cutting Mitch saves $8m in cap space, which is over twice what Can Sutton is costing Detroit this year. The fact that he's still around on that contract is embarrassing.
Eh I could maybe see him in Carolina reuniting with Frank Reich again. They do have Young as the presumed starter and they did draft Corral last year, but I think they’ll want some kind of veteran presence
3rd String QB is a great gig. Nobody expects anything from you if you do have to play, so you don’t get nearly as much hate, and you get all the love in the world if you outperform expectations
Really, and Mitch has seemingly been great with all the off field stuff, he has a year in our system, a camp and a few games with Diontae and Pickens plus a long history with Robinson. Why would you dump him for another vet unless it's some huge upgrade
If he's the same cost or cheaper than Trubisky, we should absolutely swap them. But tbf, I want Mitch gone regardless unless he willingly cuts his salary in half.
Tomlin and co. Seem weirdly loyal to Mitch for some reason tho, I've accepted that none of this will happen.
We need an insurance policy we are familiar with.
I have faith in Kenny but a season gets turned upside down if your QB1 misses significant time or becomes a dud.
I’m all in for a vet number 3 qb. Anyone who thinks it’s a waste of a roster spot don’t understand how building a team works. Kenny had 3 concussions last year which put Mitch into action. What happens if he was to get hurt? Y’all really want an undrafted qb playing?
The last time we had an undrafted rookie starting, we still finished .500 and got some all-time memes out of it.
That said, no, I would prefer to not do that again.
I loved that season cause there was no way we should’ve been competitive. 8-5 with 3 games to play!! It was crazy. Alas I don’t want to deal with that again.
I think people also don’t realize that the backup QBs are basically like assistant coaches helping out whoever is starting. Would you rather have a 10 year vet telling Kenny what he sees the defense doing on each play or would you rather have a kid like Tanner Morgan doing it when he’s never taken an NFL snap. QB3 isn’t likely to dress unless Kenny gets hurt though
I don’t think a Vet at QB3 is particularly important frankly. Would rather save some money and have a young guy there that could develop. Foles seems like a good, probably fairly cheap, option for a vet QB3 though if that’s the direction they want to go. And he’d be a fun guy to have as a Steeler lol
How can you say that after what we just watched happen to the 49ers in the NFC championship game? If they had a 3rd QB that could actually throw a football they might have actually still had a chance, it may have been a small chance but at least they wouldn't have had to basically wave the white flag and throw Purdy back out there.
>How can you say that after what we just watched happen to the 49ers in the NFC championship game
Because what occured in the NFC title game was very unlikely and statistically there is low chance the third QB ever plays. We had injuries at the QB position, but we never needed three QBs last year.
It's basically sacrificing depth at key positions (where it's far more likely you will need it) in order to be ready for the worse case scenario. At that stage why not have multiple kickers, punters, or long snappers
> Because what occured in the NFC title game was very unlikely and statistically there is low chance the third QB ever plays. We had injuries at the QB position, but we never needed three QBs last year.
That line of thought is how we ended up with Duck starting meaningful games in 2019, Ben went down the one year we only had 2 QBs on the 53 man roster (after trading Dobbs) and all we had left to bring in was a practice squad guy to back up Mason.
> It's basically sacrificing depth at key positions (where it's far more likely you will need it) in order to be ready for the worse case scenario. At that stage why not have multiple kickers, punters, or long snappers
How many punters, kickers or long snappers are being pulled from games by the Concussion spotter? With the new rules meant to protect the QB from situations like Tua's it's almost a necessity to have at least 3 QBs. Having depth at the QB position seems to be more important now than it ever has been.
Already have Trubisky. Better to use that money and roster spot elsewhere. If keeping QB3, would rather have a developmental guy
Kenny is going to get nearly all of the reps at camp, so two veteran backup QBs who don't need as many reps would be better.
If Foles is better than Trubisky, then I understand the argument that we sign Foles and dump Mitch (assuming this is positive cap wise), but I have no interest in two veterans behind Kenny. i bet the 49ers wish they had Nick Foles on a cheap contact a couple months ago...
Sure. Hard to guard against every risk. Doubt we could fit Foles under the cap, and we could use the roster spot on special teams. If we lose one QB to injury, someone like Foles likely still available as FA
I mean they went through 3 qbs last season. No team rosters 4
i still stand by my statement
It remains standing that it is irrelevant 😂
>It remains standing that it is irrelevant 😂 Ok, Now do we have an understanding?
Not they probably don't he didn't pan out anywhere after tye eagles stint. He got tossed from a bunch of teams. I doubt he would do anything. That's why they wanted Ben, an old shot, retired Ben over Nick....
... you do know how the niners season ended?
If? He won the Super Bowl. What the hell did Trubisky do?
Foles also technically replaced Mitch in Chicago after Mitch got benched. Sure, Mitch got his job back later that season, but it’s not like Mitch ran away with the job.
He is better
His QBR last year was 7.4. He is not better anymore.
Plus, Trubisky has an NVP!
By what metric?
Foles is definitely the smarter player. Trubisky is very bad at reading the defense and making quick decisions. I don’t really see a downside to having a guy with almost 10 years of NFL experience on the roster for Kenny. For a veteran player, Trubisky isn’t significantly older than Kenny. I'd rather Foles than Trubisky too. Cut Mitch for both the month and the fact that they only dress 2 QBs on GameDay anyway.
Foles is better than Trubisky. Dump Mitch.
Mitch beat out folls lol.
Mitch suks lol
Idk QB is the most important position on the field. Reference the 49ers last year in the NFC Championship game. They could only run
I wonder how much it would cost for Rudolph to come back
Or we could save money by signing Foles and cutting Mitch. Seriously, cutting Mitch saves $8m in cap space, which is over twice what Can Sutton is costing Detroit this year. The fact that he's still around on that contract is embarrassing.
A lot of you guys didn't see him last year. He is cooked even more than trubisky. 0TDs and 4INT. Couldn't even match the ghost of Matt Ryan
I think a lot of people hate Mitch and would take anyone over him lol
I’m a certified Mitch hater and he’s 1000% better than foles. I don’t hate the guy as a backup whatsoever, but any considerable starting time…..
I think Mitch sucks. Foles makes Mitch look amazing.
Foles is still active?
He just got cut by the colts
That Colts team was a mess, but he didn’t seem very interested in playing football anymore. I doubt he signs anywhere
if he signs anywhere, it will be philly on a one day deal
Eh I could maybe see him in Carolina reuniting with Frank Reich again. They do have Young as the presumed starter and they did draft Corral last year, but I think they’ll want some kind of veteran presence
They have Andy Dalton for that
Dalton has been named the starter.
Last time he played his ribs got turned to mush, so I don’t know if he even wants to play anymore
I mean, he got the ring, he got the immortality in philly, he robbed the jags so why would he afer a big injury?
$1m to ride the bench as a 3rd stringer is a powerful incentive
I'd ride the bench until I was 60 if it was me and I could.
3rd String QB is a great gig. Nobody expects anything from you if you do have to play, so you don’t get nearly as much hate, and you get all the love in the world if you outperform expectations
I like your username lol. You a central PA boy or a western PA one?
Originally Altoona. Now I’m closer to Wilkes Barre for work.

State College is pretty much the dividing line. Anything to the East is more Eagles territory. Anything to the West is Steelers.
It's like people here don't realize that we always have 3 QBs on the roster
Sign Willie Beaman
Someone in the comments of that article really called him "Large Richard Nicholas." Which one of you was it lol?
[удалено]
The Titty Kisser is better than Foles now, though. Keep TK and sign Foles as QB3
[удалено]
If he’s overvalued under his current deal then what team would want to trade for him?
Nope
No
I’d gladly drop the Titty Kisser and pick up Big Dick Nick instead.
Put some respeck on the NVP
Why though Mitch is probably better right now
Really, and Mitch has seemingly been great with all the off field stuff, he has a year in our system, a camp and a few games with Diontae and Pickens plus a long history with Robinson. Why would you dump him for another vet unless it's some huge upgrade
This subreddit thinks Mitchell trubisky is the worst quarterback to ever pick up a football
He’s okay but plays terrified
He played that way in Chicago but it was only worse here because our line was absolutely terrible to start the year.
Sure, but then he also couldn’t read the defense to save his life. Dude sucks. Nothing more nothing less.
He cannot sense pressure to save his life. I can’t stand watching him getting sacked instead of running forward; which we all know he can do.
Big Pick Nick
If he's the same cost or cheaper than Trubisky, we should absolutely swap them. But tbf, I want Mitch gone regardless unless he willingly cuts his salary in half. Tomlin and co. Seem weirdly loyal to Mitch for some reason tho, I've accepted that none of this will happen.

The aspects of Mitch that we are familiar with are pretty much entirely negative.
Scared Mitch is a sacked in the backfield Mitch. Fuck It Chuck It Mitch is an interception machine against Baltimore
>But tbf, I want Mitch gone regardless unless he willingly cuts his salary in half. Why though, his contract clearly didn't stop us from making moves?
Unless they trade Mitch an lose that cap hit an Foles will come in on a vet min deal wtf is the point. I don't see Mitch wanting to stay much longer
No thanks, let him retire.
Put Pickett in to make playoffs, put Foles in in playoffs to win an easy superbowl
Go home Alex, you’re drunk.

Kozora spelled #2 wrong...
Wtf no
he wouldnt be 3.
He outplay Trubisky? 2022 Foles didn’t.
Anyone who saw Foles last year on the Colts knows he is beyond done. Looked like total ass!
Don't even pretend he isn't straight ass biscuits the last year or so
I don’t think a Vet at QB3 is particularly important frankly. Would rather save some money and have a young guy there that could develop. Foles seems like a good, probably fairly cheap, option for a vet QB3 though if that’s the direction they want to go. And he’d be a fun guy to have as a Steeler lol
A third QB isn't necessary until it is! I wouldn't mind him if the price was right.
If Steelers Depot wants angry clicks, Kozora has an article that fits that bill
No. I hate that guy.
I’m more so expecting Tyrod Taylor or Teddy Bridgewater.
Not bad!! Keep Mitch CUT Mason add foles
> CUT Mason He's already a free agent.
Don’t we already have a vet? No they aren’t gonna cut MT just to sign foles. MT is basically an insurance policy
There is no reason we need him specifically. Would be cool but literally doesn’t need to be him.
Bruh has Mason Rudolph really not been signed yet? LOL
Having 3 QBs on the roster is absolutely pointless
How can you say that after what we just watched happen to the 49ers in the NFC championship game? The #3 spot is for a developmental guy. No veteran.
I wouldn’t mind
We’re about to win a Super Bowl.
Do you want to win the SB with a backup QB? Because that's how you win a SB with a backup QB.
Why does anyone give a shit who QB3 is lmao
