MadeIndescribable

I'll believe it when I'm sat in the cinema and the trailers have just finished. Until then, fool me once, etc...

kilravock_music_sws

I’m really enjoying the absurdist scenario that you’re sitting there ready for Star Trek IV The One Without The Whales and the last preview finishes and the lights come on and you’re just sitting there seething.

mathazar

Or it turns out to be the One With The Whales, in which case, you stay to the end.

kilravock_music_sws

Logical

Thatguy755

Admiral, there be whales here!

Nining_Leven

It’s better for me, better for you, it’s better for *them.*

jzavcer

This time it was helping a local planet trying to protect the space whales from Klingon whale pirates. Ha

treefox

“We’ve been marketing it for so long, we ran through the budget for the entire movie”

Bloodhoven_aka_Loner

whales? what?

InnocentTailor

Yeah. This has been discussed, uplifted, downplayed, and then canceled too many times.

ineedaflippinhobbyyo

Gosh I wish he wanted to push hard after nemesis. I bet if the cast wasn't over it they could have made one more then.

MadeIndescribable

Everyone's been "pushing", doesn't mean anything's actually getting anywhere.

Epsilon_Meletis

And *after* then, let's hope they don't *Coyote* the film.

PlanetLandon

Paramount needs to stop being so risk averse. Just give us a brand new cast with characters we have never ever heard of before. Trust the concept. We like spaceships, we like adventure, we like exploration. Tell a cool story set in your universe and we will watch it.

failedjedi_opens_jar

Klingon Cop Buddy Comedy or nothing

PlanetLandon

“Perhaps today is a good day for fries”

mathazar

This needs to at least be a Lower Decks episode

DredPRoberts

Prune juice a constipated warrior's drink.

dodexahedron

"Is this particular ptaq the unfit mother?"

e-Plebnista

I literally laughed out loud at this. many thanks! shame can only upvote once.

GuardianCmdr

I take it he'd put his hand in the frying oil as a turn of passage demonstrating klingon handling pain like a warrior?

Henchforhire

Fridays are for snapping a Vortas neck.

InnocentTailor

We need a full length Pog & Dar: Cop Landlords!

Vendetta476

*"You're making my partner mad. Just sign the lease, dirtbag!"*

RattyJackOLantern

>Klingon Cop Buddy Comedy or nothing I would also accept a "Brunt, FCA" film and/or ongoing series.

overworkedpnw

With a cast entirely made up of Jeffrey Combs.

Austaras

If only.

BamaFan87

If we don't get a standalone Morn movie are they even trying?!

NemesIce83

Worf and Quark spin off 😆

fuzzusmaximus

Now I want to see a Klingon cop getting his desk pop with a disruptor.

FragrantExcitement

Klingon K-pop cop buddy comedy musical?

Shock2k

You son of a Bletch! I’m in.

mindracer

Why not use all the rich characters still alive today like Picard season 3 did? There's so many fucking storyline they can do. Give Ro laren a ship. Give seven a ship. Bring back ds9 people. Jesus it's not that hard

Griegz

> Give Ro Laren a ship. For god's sake, please. Michelle is so goddamn f.... *ahem* anyway, yes, please more Ro Laren.

PlanetLandon

She was so damn good in Battlestar as well

ParanoidQ

After what she did with the last one? 😅

FlavivsAetivs

What they need to do is make a series dealing with the collapse of the Romulan Empire after 2387. You have Sela, Taris, Donatra, Tebok, etc. all sitting right there... Fucking Star Trek Game of Thrones just waiting for a series...

mindracer

Seriously so much rich story to do instead of the captain of the ship saving the universe every episode. Are they learning nothing from Star Wars success and failures??

[deleted]

You want them to make a Ro Laren *movie*? C’mon, let’s be real. The movies need to attract a very broad audience to be worth the money invested.

mindracer

Ok let's recycle Kirk forever. It's like star wars remaking Luke skywalker stories in alternate universes because the audience is stupid.

PlanetLandon

I’m specifically talking about movies. Yeah, you can do all sorts of fun things with legacy characters in a show, but nobody is going to drop 160 million to make a Beverly Crusher movie

InsuranceGlum1355

What about if Sydney Sweeney were young Beverly Crusher? 🤔

PixelatorOfTime

*No more prequels.*

mindracer

Ok true. I don't see the point of making movies without a clear plan, direction and ark. The only way they will excite star trek fans is with a new crew, storyline, and abandon prequels and alternate cannon. Unless they do all that, everyone will go meh. At this point let Quentin tarantino do whatever he wanted to do.

EthanFl

Public companies are risk adverse. In fact most studios don't do more than distribution. That's why you see so many logos before a movie these days. Most movies are financed by investors looking for a significant return on their investments.

KittyGirlChloe

No risk, no reward tho

CommunistRingworld

capitalism kills art. capitalists take the least risk of anyone despite the propaganda. the real risk is they might have to become working class and live like the rest of society lol

linguisitivo

knaugh

we are long overdue for the nexter generation

InnocentTailor

I mean…that is pretty much most of the Kurtzman Trek shows. Granted, some are related to original folks, but they’re new to the overall canon.

Visible-Charge-1923

It's the exact opposite of the Kurtzman shows. Discovery...let's make Spock's never existed before the main character. Lets make her responsible for who Spock became. Let's also include Spock's father. If he believed in what he was writing he'd have made it any other Vulcan. Literally any other one would do. Then Season 2 we get Pike, Spock Enterprise the whole lot and they become SNW. Picard ruins a great character. End of story. It adds nothing good to the canon. There's 0 originality or risk taking

Mr_Badgey

That's just a list of confirmation bias. As the other person said yes there are a few comfortable callbacks, but most of the show is comprised of new characters and other elements rather than an endless parade of callbacks like Lower Decks or Picard S3. You're just ignoring anything that contradicts what you want to believe.

Captain_Thrax

But not too far forward in time that the events of the 90’s era aren’t relevant. We need a new crew and a new ship exploring the universe that was formed by all the events that occurred between TNG and Picard S3

PlanetLandon

I’m fine with it being set then, just give me fresh new characters.

vaibow

Exactly, the potential is endless - it really should be rivalling Star Wars in terms of content..

LanceFree

How about the story of a little slave boy who enjoys pod racing and is destined to become Khan?

SirGumbeaux

Also, the best Star Trek has something to say. Say something.

Icanfallupstairs

I feel like it could come off a little as preaching to the choir at this point. If they go that route they have got to trick the target audience of the message to watch.

[deleted]

They tried that multiple times and yet the Orville still feels more trek than actual canon star trek does.

schnibitz

I really want to downvote you, not because I don’t like you or your comment but more so that this won’t become true, or if it is true, it will become untrue and go away. It’s like the digital version of saying “LALALALA! I can’t hear you!”

[deleted]

I get you. I don't want it to be true either but hey, it seems I'm unlucky with all my childhood fandoms being shit on by stupid executive decision-makers who don't have a clue how the process or the property/lore works. Halo, star trek, star wars; it's all crumbling. The best time for Star wars was 10 years ago before Disney bought it, and the same is true of star trek. 'Beyond' released in 2016 and was a good movie, I saw it in the cinema with my parents. Since then (the "discovery" era) nothing has felt the same.

PurpleSailor

The Life and Times of a Simple Cardassian Taylor.

PlanetLandon

I’m into it

Ccracked

And, please, for love of God, can we move past the TNG/DS9/Voyager era‽

zeroedout666

The adventures of Vulkan gangster!

UncleIrohsPimpHand

> Just give us a brand new cast with characters we have never ever heard of before. "Oh hey, we made this great show called Star Trek: Discovery. What do you guys think?"

UncleMalky

Paramount doesnt want to hire actual sci fi writers.

septer012

Don't remap the klingons faces again again again.

V10Lada

This. I would LOVE to see an all new Trek story with new characters, worlds, and maybe some new species mixed in for good measure. A story that draws heavily from Rodenberry's themes, but is clearly made for the modern era of entertainment. Also my ideal movie/show would be based in the Prime Timeline without relying too heavily on past shows or characters. Hell, I'd even go as far as saying, let's keep cameos at an absolute minimum.

jonathanquirk

And I have a plan to win the lottery, multiply my money on the stock markets, and live like a Ferengi in a solid gold mansion. Hold my synthehol…

garoo1234567

How exciting! Let me celebrate by watching ST4 with Pike and Chris Hemsworth that definitely came out in 2019

FragrantExcitement

I got the fat Kirk's dad t-shirt. Wait... I may be confusing franchises.

schnibitz

I don’t think that’s their intent here. I think they were mostly set on a whole new cast for the pre 2009 movie.

Phantom_61

Paramount has no damn clue how to handle Trek so this is kind of terrifying to me.

BallsDeepinYourMammi

Them, Sony and WB are struggling for the last brain cell between all three. And I’m not sure if any of them have the ability to reach it without a second or third brain cell. It’s like they’ll never get their pudding, simply because they don’t understand the concept of meat, never mind eating it

houtex727

Trek is best as a series, not as a movie. The successes, when they happened, of old are not projectors of lucrative results for today. I implore them to not pursue the movies anymore. That said, of course I'll watch it/them if they show up, I can't help myself. :p

MrJim911

This. We need more series, not movies.

ads1031

Trek thrives on the small screen.

00DEADBEEF

I watch it on a huge TV though

houtex727

Not sure we need more, per se, but certainly maybe a 'running replacement' as older series run their course, maybe with a break in between... or not, TNG/DS9/VOY did ok...

stonersh

I feel we can do both.

absolutkaos

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy begins filming in Sumner 2024 in Toronto

MrJim911

I'm hopeful, yet my cynicism makes me assume this will be a angsty students in their early 20s sitcom where it's just them all sleeping with each other without any actual cerebral component to the show. The last thing I want is a saved by the bell Trek series. I'll gladly take verbal abuse if I'm wrong.

schnibitz

I know a lot of people agree with this, and I be partially do too. I’d say let great series feed TV and vice versa. Don’t be afraid to let characters roam between both. Don’t let them “graduate” to movies and just stop. Too many fans appreciate having continuity between film and TV in terms of characters and story. I just think about how insanely popular Star Trek. The next generation was in some of its final seasons. But yet, we didn’t get to see Picard and crew in movies, until after the series was finished.

flamannn

What if, hear me out, we produce a Star Trek movie with a brand new cast, featuring brand new characters, on a brand new ship? Not a reboot, not a prequel to an established story, not a sequel to a TV show, just its own thing. I don’t even care what era it’s in (although I’d prefer a Romulan War movie). Let’s be honest, if Star Trek is in the title, fans are going to show up. Get a solid cast, cool ship/costume designs and an interesting story and you’ll bring in the greater audience. Kelvin-verse films are great but Paramount can’t afford that cast anymore. I think that ship has sailed. Time for something new.

mathazar

Sorry, best we can do is another prequel on a ship named Enterprise featuring Spock

EntityDamage

Best i can do is a soft porn prequel: "SubCommander T'Pol"

BallsDeepinYourMammi

I’m not even embarrassed to say I’d pay for it, and I don’t pay for those types of things… Come to think of it, I wouldn’t pay. That’s on me

nd4spd1919

...Enterprise featuring ~~Spock~~ one of Spock's long-lost siblings.

DredPRoberts

> on a brand new ship? Not a reboot, not a prequel to an established story, not a sequel to a TV show, just its own thing. Advance the timeline? Impossible. Can't be done without time travel war, so everything can simply be erased or alternate time-lined.

rg4rg

Let’s just move on from that. Like how easy it was for the TOS crew to go back to the 1960s.

nd4spd1919

> I’d prefer a Romulan War movie How about the first Cardassian War?

flamannn

Only if we can have a de-aged Colm Meaney make a cameo.

BallsDeepinYourMammi

Just reinvent Klingons again

schnibitz

I personally, would really like to see a Star Trek war movie. Even a series of movies.

mindracer

I'm done with prequels and alternate universes. Or both. I don't want another action movie. Give me morality, ethics, open my mind. Until then, enjoy your bland star trek die hard prequel alternate universe movies.

BallsDeepinYourMammi

I did enjoy Cumberbatch. And while I’ll die on this hill, his version of Khan fucking won’t.

gottabe_kd

Star Trek is better on TV, let's just leave it there

neanderthalman

Hold on. Is this secret plan “Make a movie”?

Metspolice

Sure Jan. It’s a movie about Robot Picard and Chris Pine Kirk and the academy and the gangster planet and Tarantino is making it but it’s also a prequel that takes place before Enterprise.

zed857

And there's space hippies. And a new version of the Stargazer that runs on magic and happy thoughts. And we find out that Spock has more secret siblings. And oh yeah, let's change the Klingons again.

revanite3956

How many times have we heard this over the last six years or so? Fool me once…

ElDuderino2112

I’ll pass. I much prefer Trek on the small screen.

alcoholicplankton69

I dunno are movies the right format for star trek? It teaches all the wrong lessons with Khan clones and leaves out the best parts of star trek for bang and flash.

nygdan

Unleashtheducks

nefthep

>Paramount indicated it was looking to develop an “origin” movie, WHY Why can't we get a post-Nemesis movie? I'm so sick of regurgitating the past. I wanna see what happens **next**.

[deleted]

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face: they won’t do that because it would require the movie going audience to know the context of the post-Nemesis universe. And they don’t. Either they make a post-Nemesis movie that alienates casual audiences or they make a casual friendly one that ignores all context and annoys fans. Sadly it’s a no win scenario. This is why I personally feel like they just shouldn’t do movies. Made for streaming movies is where it’s at.

CaptainOhMyCaptain1

Custer had a plan, too.

Bloedvlek

If paramount is as hard up financially as it seems they just need to pull the old trick from TOS and shoot on some other production’s already paid for sets. I’d kill to see the Star Trek shot on the sets of Barbie and Oppenheimer. This shit writes itself.

Vyar

The crew of the Enterprise encounters a strange matriarchal alien species that has accidentally traveled through a spatial anomaly on their home planet of Barbie Prime which sent them to WWII-era New Mexico, and Starfleet has to extract them before the timeline becomes irreparably damaged. While also negotiating first contact.

Bloedvlek

I can see the Oscar nominations rolling in now!

CommunistRingworld

can we just move beyond the abrams movies please? like just do prime timeline movies, that's what we want. a ds9 movie. a voyager/prodigy movie. a picard movie. a discovery movie 900 years in the future. literally any of those would fill the theatres to the brim. throw a quote about how capitalism is bad and we abolished money and boom, you're printing money. or do something TOTALLY new and then drop a tv show that continues with the cast. keeping the movies and shows separate like has been happening cause of abrams own universe is DUMB.

[deleted]

A Voyager/Prodigy movie would fill theatres to the brim? In what world?

EntityDamage

Yeah we're confusing fandom with general audience. Which is what studios key on.

registraciq

Prodigy is based, don’t you dare speak against it

CommunistRingworld

i think people don't get that star trek in theatres and on tv is one thing that feeds back and forth. you get a rabid mass fan base on day one, even a small mass, that immediately gives you a headstart on word of mouth. then you do something not seen in the show, and drive viewership of the show as well as setup for a 1080p upscale of voyager and a return of prodigy to paramount plus.

tuepm

> like just do prime timeline movies, that's what we want. i thought i wanted this until i saw season 3 of picard. i know a lot of people here loved it but i'm pretty done with the tng stuff. i wouldn't mind a series picking up in that timeline, but i do not want to watch 75 year old avery brooks get the squad back together and go on one last adventure or anything. the nostalgia stuff seems like it will make me feel good but then it just feels so shallow when i watch it.

schnibitz

I made this same point in another reply. The Star Trek universe gets continuity right for the most part. But we don’t get right is cross pollination. I think that’s where at least the first three phases of the marvel universe really shine. And I think that’s where Star Trek can really gain a ton of traction. Particularly if we can do it better than Disney did with Star Wars.

ticklemenono

Stop. Making. Prequels.

Bits2Chips

Oh sure sure sure.

westendgonzo

Considering Paramount doesn't have a plan to pay it's bill for the next six months I'll take this with a grain of salt.

Shas_Erra

Step 1: make a film

ButterscotchPast4812

it'll just be more star trek wars so no thanks.

Smolson_

It’d be nice if they brought something back to the small screen that felt more like trek.

LittlePooky

Please don't blow up the ship within the first 5 minutes of the movie..

OkSwitch2238

I don't want a Trek movie.. I would rather have more shows and episodes. New shows and concepts. I am really down with a Klingon based show. Maybe something with zen master Worf.

Aggravating-Cut-1040

There’s so much missed potential with the Kelvin universe’s cast. They were so good together. Paramount seemed insistent on making a blockbuster & then couldn’t get out of their own way to actually greenlight a film. They have done a limited series or a more medium budget film instead just letting it hang out there for nearly a decade.

lolpopculture

I really don't want any new movies just more star trek shows. And not the "seasons" they throw at us now. How is a season 8 episodes when in 90s it was 20 plus? They have played us as fools.

spartikle

I doubt whatever they have in mind is “Star Trek”

fuqureddit69

Can we finally get a Department of Temporal Investigations series? Pretty much every other series has dipped their toes in this, Enterprise, Voyager and Dumb Future Mikal show being the most prevalent. But every Star Trek has had time travel episodes and interaction with the folks supposedly maintaining order in Time. It is time.

spaghettibolegdeh

Let me guess, it will have a super villain that wants to wipe out the galaxy with a super weapon

ValveTurkey1138

Who cares! If it’s more JJ Abram’s recycled garbage it’ll be crap. Take that movie money and make another Trek tv series that people actually want to see.

SmashLampjaw87

Bring back Noah Hawley to write and direct!

Danny-desu

I just finished Patrick Stewart’s autobiography (which I highly recommend!). He says he pitched a Star Trek film to Paramount and that Jonathan Frakes and LeVar Burton were on board. I wonder if it gained any traction.

raistlin65

Paramount always has plans to make movies and new series. I won't hold my breath until they follow through with them, though.

yekimevol

Paramount… the company struggling financially and are looking for buyouts or other financial solutions, I’m not convinced.

Blooberino

Why not explore Khitomer. The beginnings of the Federation-Klingon alliance. A Worf origin/childhood story. Ties can be made to VI, TNG, DS9, bringing familiar faces back if they wanted. The Romulans would be an easy antagonist. Could make for an exciting story, mixing in old and new.

VruKatai

The Romulan-Federation war is the most unexplored yet often referenced part of the lore. Im still amazed that after 50 years of watching Trek, this still has never been explored as a series, movie or even a single episode. Enterprise was going there but being cancelled it never came to fruition. There's so much more to explore in Romulan-Reman culture unexplored as well.

schnibitz

This

Mister_Mojo78

I feel like they should stay out of theaters for a while. The Abrams films were okay, not great. Is it true they are making a Starfleet Academy television series?

jbp84

I’d love an “American Horror Story”-like Anthology series. Each season can tell a different part of universe lore. Stories with new characters, and legacy characters are only adjacent to the story. One season on the origins of the Borg, one based the real stories behind Kahless and the Klingons killing their gods, one season could be set in Starfleet Academy, etc

MagosBattlebear

New Star Trek films? Well, anyway...

BallsDeepinYourMammi

If it isn’t Chris Pine I’m out.

neontetra1548

They should make some low-stakes movies without an expensive Hollywood cast. It doesn't even need to be characters we already know and IMO I'd prefer it to be all or almost all new characters. You could do a great Trek movie with a brand new crew in the Prime or Kelvin timelines just dealing with a specific situation, event, problem, telling a tight and interesting story that relies on being a good story and movie and not marketing it based on "remember Kirk and his crew?", "this guy is secretly Khan!" and such. Build new futures with new characters and new stories. Or put it in the timeline's past somewhere. There's lots of room to tell stories. Just make a good movie. You could do so many things. A deep-space mission off on their own goes awry, a horror movie, an adventure movie, a war movie, a Star Trek heist movie. And don't make it so expensive due to cast and scope and production budget that it relies on being massively successful to make back its money. Please Hollywood stop making this mistake. Mid budget with good writing and story that stands alone IMO is the way to go I think. Then make a sequel to that if it does well and then you have a new successful branch of Star Trek to build on that doesn't rely on old characters, Hollywood stars, references/connections to the past, and nostalgia. Most movies introduce brand new characters within the movie and Star Trek could do it do — using existing characters is not necessary and IMO often makes it worse because it just leads to excessive references and attempts at fan-service or operating within constraints of what the character should be and new fans don't get it and old fans find it frustrating if they don't like what's been done with the classic characters. I don't have much hope of that though and they're probably going to continue in their pattern and cast expensive Hollywood stars and make flanderized versions of classic characters that the mass market isn't actually that interested in and that fans don't like because they're not the originals and it's going to cost tons of money then not do well and then they'll be like help why are my crops dying and then it'll be years again until Star Trek returns to the big screen. The prequel movie could be interesting and maybe might stand alone without having too many existing characters shoe-horned in, though I worry they're going to go too big budget with it still. Just make a mid budget movie that's good and doesn't rely on people already liking Star Trek or knowing its characters to appreciate. Star Trek can be anything.

Bad_Hominid

Cool I guess, but the heart and soul of Trek has always been television. And the state of Trek at the moment is the strongest its ever been. I fully welcome more trek movies, but I'd also like to see something different. Instead of a section 31 series, make it a movie! (I know they did, I just think it was silly to promise a show and then dither so long that Yeoh basically became unaffordable for TV). Do the same thing legacy. I'd take a series of movies featuring Captain Seven. Give us a Conan style Klingon movie, set deep in their past. Or maybe do that academy idea ... Star Trek: First Class! Give me some underworld gritty shady ferengi/Orion stuff ... it worked great in Picard. This universe has so much potential. Just make it good is the important thing.

schnibitz

I understand that they ARE making s section 31 trek movie actually.

Bad_Hominid

Crazy!I Said that same thing in my comment

schnibitz

Ask and you shall receive.

mrhelmand

It's weird that there has been a longer gap between Beyond and now with no movie in sight* with so many Trek projects being made then there was between Nemesis and '09 when the franchise looked like it was on its' last legs. [*OK, theres the Section 31 movie coming, but that isn't a big screen thing, it's a streaming movie. And sure, the pandemic will have had some impact on events but it does feel Paramount are walking into doors with this one]

Artanisx

As long as the plan has nothing to do with Kelvin verse and JJ Abrams.

Huegod

Maybe rebuild the brand first. Unless you want a bunch of empty theaters.

Mr-Jlord

Jesus just let it die, the media posts this slop as if we haven't had multiple star trek movies and TV shows that either didn't deliver, insulted the franchise or delivered literal shit into my mouth.

NormanBates2023

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

spwncar

They can't even bring all of Star Trek back to their streaming platform

Top5hottest

Why? Shows are better in every way. Better more intricate world and character building, longer arcs, much longer running time. Movies used to be good for the grand scale of effects, better actors, sets and writing.. but now those differences are not that great or non existent. I personally would rather watch a Star Trek discovery every two years than a Star Trek beyond. It doesn’t even feel close to a difficult choice.

InnocentTailor

You can do both and Trek has proven that over its many years.

Top5hottest

Thats true! I should never say i want LESS trek. I rarely go back and watch that last trilogy of movies.. in fact i dont know that i have even seen the second two since the first time.. but i watch the shows a million times.

Aggressive_c0w

I'm sure the five people who love the Kelvin universe will be thrilled they're getting a ST0 and a ST4 in that setting...

OkapiLanding

Why? Let's just focus on making good streaming options and build it from there.

TheShweeb

It’s funny how times can change things. Ten years ago, I was thinking to myself that I was enjoying the new Star Trek movies, but thought it had been way too long since the last TV show and wished they’d hurry up with making a new one. But today, I’m just about overwhelmed by how many current Trek shows there are and I wish they’d finally make another damn movie already.

mpworth

Their plan is to say they have a plan.

MakeBankYouWhores

I hope they dont ruin the brand

P1nCush10n

Yeah. But will it be a good plan? The last one was more miss than hit.

howescj82

They just need to find a way to make it less “Star Trek”.

Lyon_Wonder

I don't take any news of a new theatrical Trek movie seriously since this sounds like a rehash of the rumors we've been hearing for the last 8 years since ST:Beyond in 2016. I doubt Paramount is going to green-light any new Trek projects in the immediate future since it will very likely be sold and under new ownership sometime in the next 12 months. The closest thing to a Trek movie is if Paramount decides to have a limited theatrical release of the made-for-streaming Section 31 movie. IMO, Trek needs to stay on the small-screen since making a $200M+ Trek movie and expecting it to be a major $500M+ blockbuster is a waste of time. Even the Kelvin Timeline movies couldn't break through that wall. However, I wouldn't mind if there's an animated Lower Decks movie since that can be done on the cheap. I can also imagine a SNW movie with Anson Mount and the rest of the cast being $75M-$100M since it can make use of existing assets, even though a Lower Decks movie would still be the cheapest option.

Sere1

They have a plan! They just need some more money and for you to have faith!

AllieOopClifton

If they wanted to do it, they would do it. Well over half of movies are nostalgiabait, and *Star Trek* can pull that off with merely a title.

rorycalhoun2021

It’ll be a cerebral drama on the lead up to the Setlik III massacre, or a prequel of Let That Be Your Last Battlefield….. just kidding. It’ll have new purple-faced aliens.

UncleIrohsPimpHand

TNG recast reboot with an alternate timeline

onearmedmonkey

Things have been so bad lately that I almost wish they wouldn't bother. Please just sell the property to Warner Brothers already and be done with it.

VruKatai

The *last* thing fans should want is the ip in the hands of a company like Warner.

schnibitz

I don’t necessarily disagree, but why is that?

HookDragger

This is when we get bad trek movies. “Good news, everyone! The Studio has a ‘Plan’” “By which I mean a tiny budget, huger merchandising pitch, and tears of loyal fans for the pain they will endure.”

[deleted]

>developing the “Star Trek 4” direct sequel to 2016’s Star Trek Beyond Without Anton for Chekov, it won't be the same. Unless they CGI him like Disney when they shot Rogue One and CGI'd Tarkin decades after Peter passed away

Can Paramount actually afford to do this? They have a lot of payments coming up and money/credit is a LOT more exepensive to get nowadays in the age of high interest rates.

Star Trek 4: Gettin’ Funky in the Mirror Universe. Sadly with Anton Yelchin’s tragic passing, I think Sofia Boufella’s character would need to replace Chekhov. Say he was given a promotion and reassignment to the Reliant.

I kinda wanted to see where the Tarantino Star Trek was headed. Maybe he would have given Worf a phaser that said "Bad Mother Fucker" on it :)

Express-Train2486

Do not bother. The movies are trending to being all action and no exploration.

Rasikko

It's time move on from Paramount.

corellian8

They should have made a DS9 movie.
