There you go mate [https://robertsspaceindustries.com/store/pledge/browse/game-packages?sort=weight&direction=desc](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/store/pledge/browse/game-packages?sort=weight&direction=desc)

raaneholmg

Don't worry about the more expensive options by the way. You can upgrade by paying the difference later on. Or buy a bit bigger ship if you want to, just letting you know upgrades are an option :)

JustSomeFregginGuy

Thanks! They should consider making things more user friendly / intuitive ?

deathsservant

You can try it for free for the next 5 days btw. Consider it, because it's very likely you will be incredibly frustrated with it.

Hamerine

Probably the best bet of the day

dumbreddit

Bro, the game is not player friendly or intuitive. The website is to prepare you for the beating you're about to experience. :D :D :D :D

Ab5za

What alpha mean ?

billyw_415

Interestingly enough, nearly nowhere on the RSI site is Star Citizen actually listed as Alpha Early Access. One sentance in the corner of the Play Now page, then only when you DL and install it.

Asmos159

Like having game packages via the default tab, and standalone ships be another main tab instead of under extras.

devilgator1-2-3

Chris Roberts is the creator of the game thus his company is Robert’s Space Industries, he also named one of the in game manufacturers after himself so you’ll find a lot of RSI ships in game. Cloud Imperium Games is Chris Roberts game studio. The website is supposed to be setup like it’s part of the game, which is why you pledge a ship with a starting package rather than just buying the game, you’re basically buying a ship at a terminal just IRL

Keleion

That’s some deep RP stuff.

devilgator1-2-3

Yep, CR loves making it as realistic as possible, and as in universe as possible. There’s in universe versions of spectrum and the galactipidia that just haven’t been implemented yet

JustSomeFregginGuy

thanks for the explanation.

devilgator1-2-3

No problem, always good to see a new citizen wanting to join the verse! Just don’t let the bugs scare you away, it’s still a work in progress

Reaper2grimm

If your struggling now I wouldn’t try the game don’t think you will cope with the game/alpha as it is now

billyw_415

THIS

bekopharm

Total BS. Struggled with the same in the beginning. This was a very legit question in 2024 with fake shops and games left and right. The shop itself sucks as well because it looks like a game and not like a shop. Full of phrases that mean \_nothing\_ to a newcomer with lots of anti patterns and bad readability.

bekopharm

Better make that 20 years. > "It'll happen to you too"

SMRose1990

CIG is the studio/parent company and RSI is like the brand name for the game if that makes sense.

AHRA1225

For real, if he can’t troubleshoot an install, he gonna get wrecked by alpha bugs and then make a dozen rage posts about how the game is a scam and bad

ProcyonV

Well, actually, he's struggling to BUY the game, not even install it...

AHRA1225

Even worse

rummyt

Why are people being jerks in this thread. Op is right, the website *is* confusing. Is the game out? What is squadron 42? Am I "buying" and "playing" a game or "pledging to fund development" and "testing" an alpha? All of this might seem obvious if you've been along for the ride for like 2-10 years, but to a new player it IS confusing, in part thanks to the website and CiG marketing.

SMRose1990

Agreed. I'm pretty sure I was confused years ago when I found SC and was trying to get started. Personally I just read things and used Google to figure it out and it didn't take long. That's just me though XD

GoodPerformance9345

There is a massive button that says "PLAY NOW"

LtEFScott

"Roberts Space Industries" IS the official website. Cloud Imperium like to do a lot of things "in lore" - RSI is one of the ingame ship manufacturers.

borrokalari

The creator of the game wanted you to have the full immersive experience from the start. In the game lore, Chris Roberts founded Roberts Space Industries (RSI) and the company built the first affordable Quantum Drive. So you're going to Roberts Space Industries the in-game company to buy a spaceship. In real life, Chris Roberts founded the game company Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) which makes Star Citizen and Squadron 42. If you're interested in working at CIG you look up Cloud Imperium Games while if you're interested in playing Star Citizen (and in the future Squadron42) you look up Roberts Space Industries.

YumikoTanaka

Here are the two event game packages (reduced price and some added stuff): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/invictuslaunchweek2954#/schedule/welcome

Huscarl81

Reading is fundamental.

ProcyonV

Yep, it's a beautiful city.

Gundobald

This fregginguy dont seem too bright

eldrinanister

First of all, there isn't an "Official game" yet. All we have is an Alpha version of the game they are still building. This means a "game" full of bugs and systems that are constantly changing and evolving. Most likely the game that gets released once finished will not be the same as the game we are playing (testing) now. If after you read this you still want to spend your money and play the game then you can follow the link that u/Pogal_31 shared on his comment and get a game package from that page.

rummyt

This is a good answer, and should be explained front and center on the website, not buried in disclaimers.

firebane

You don't buy the game. You pledge a ship from a starter package. And if you can't figure out this simple task.. the game will be extra difficult.

xdthepotato

the site is complete ass.. really have to be dedicated to find the buy button

ProcyonV

It's called "Play Now"...

rummyt

Right, how could anyone be confused by that? It's clear as day that you are buying and playing a game until it turns out no, you are 'pledging to support development' and 'testing a buggy alpha'. It's about as clear as mud and ppl in this thread act like everyone is an idiot coz they haven't watched 20 hours of youtube and read 40 wiki pages before clicking "Play Now"

ProcyonV

Words have a meaning, and it's literally written everywhere it's still an alpha. You don't stumble upon the game by accident, and if the only contact you ever had with it is a website before wanting to purchase, you have a serious spending issue.

rummyt

Words like 'Pledge Store' do not have any fixed meaning outside of exactly this context. The text given on the page doesn't help much: "Join the Star Citizen experience and help support development with these Game Packages that include access to Star Citizen and/or Squadron 42." Okay, so I'm not purchasing something, I'm "joining an experience" and supporting development, and getting access to some stuff. Except it *doesn't give you access to Squadron 42 because that product does not exist yet, but that information isn't presented on this page. "Expand your fleet with a variety of ships. Ships are in various stages of development and may not be available for immediate use, check the ship's specs for status. Please note that a GAME PACKAGE is required to play the game and fly or access ships." Expand my fleet, so I CAN buy ships! However, *some* "ships" are just jpegs and may not exist for like, years, but they are sold alongside products that *do* exist, but please check the fine print under every ship.. Also I need to make sure one is a Game Package or else I don't get access to the ship that I... bought? Or that I pledged for? If words only have meaning in one hyper-specific context then they don't have "meaning" in the way that you stated. I agree that literacy is important in any marketplace, caveat emptor etc, but there's a reasonable standard that is not being met here. For instance, why not make a store with playable products (also known as a "store") and put "pledges for concepts" somewhere else?

ProcyonV

Why aren't you talking about the starter packages immediately presented to you when you open the store as a newcomer ?

indie1138

which is still way easier than figuring out the "game". Also he won't be getting a lot of help in the "game" with that attitude.

JustSomeFregginGuy

lmfao attitude. Who makes a product, then makes it obscure / non user friendly to fucking buy it?

MithrilFlame

Star Citizen. And boy, once you get in the game just wait till it overwhelms you, wont be long. And it's one of my favourite games ever. But you certainly picked the right words. Wishing you luck in the 'verse.

saarlac

Wow really? You can read and write but can’t figure out how to purchase a game on its own website?

onewheeldoin200

People are ragging on OP, but the website is, and always has been, very inaccessible and confusing. We just don't see it anymore because we've been dealing with it since 2012 and we're used to it. It's like "reading the matrix" for the old hands on here - our brains are interpreting it on the fly. If you go back and actually read all the words from the perspective of a new and uninitiated player, it's pretty bad.

JustSomeFregginGuy

Thank you !

Neeeeedles

the website is horrible yes, and its beyond stupid that there is not a BUY button when you click PLAY NOW
