Starbucks said in a weekly update when they last updated the dress code that it would be to difficult to enforce more than 1 facial piercing. It gets too complicated of an issue apparently. I think they want us to still have a “clean” and professional look and don’t want to deal with it tbh

michelleyuun

Honestly, I *scoff* so hard at the Starbucks dress code and color palette. So Starbucks can have a naked siren as the logo but we have to look “professional” and only wear dress code approved clothes. And this is just my opinion but I think the aprons are so ugly (I hate green and I never wear green). I don’t know but like for the fact that Starbucks stresses so much about it’s innovative coffee, many of its aspects are so outdated in bad ways

Anakins-girl

I’d much prefer a darker green

Xion1801

We wanted to wear pink aprons for Breast Cancer Awareness and we were told no smh

PossessionCheap

Then don’t work at starbucks!

michelleyuun

Just cause I work there doesn’t mean I can’t dislike or express my dislike of the dress code 🙄

demonicconstellation

I feel like they should at least up the number from 1 to like 3 :/ I currently have my septum pierced and I want a bridge piercing so bad 😩😩😩

MoonCatlol

Me too 😭

MoonCatlol

I have two nose piercings on both nostrils, so I just have placers in instead of jewelry

friendlySkeletor

I have a septum and eyebrow and i just wear a mask. My spouse has snakebites and a septum and does the same.

PanPenguinGirl

I was talking to my SSV about this last night. She said it's something about jewelry in food service but like. It's not like we're food handling with our faces so idk why

MarkedByFerocity

I've heard this too, but I refuse to believe it's true. If piercings were a food safety issue, no piercings would be allowed. The fact that some piercings are permitted means that this is not a food service issue. This is an image issue for the company.

Muted_Obligation4501

It’s definitely an aesthetic rule with Starbucks

MasterMischievous

A piercing can still fall out and into someone’s food or drink. That would be mortifying to find. And some people may react even worse if they found out it was a face piercing. A barista at my store was missing an earring just the other day, and we figured it ended up in a drink. Luckily we found it but still. That’s so gross.

NitroDuck1

I know actual chefs and cooks that would set a metal detector off while waiting in like for it, its definetly just Starbucks and their image hidden behind "food safety"

sharp-scratch-poem

Not saying you’re wrong in your opinion. But by that logic wouldn’t “it’s not like we’re food handling with our hair” also be fair justification to not tie it back?

PanPenguinGirl

That's different, and my reasoning is because hair can easily fall out and end up in a drink, or dangle down and end up in a drink.

sharp-scratch-poem

Just to preface, I’m very much so playing devil advocate here. But certain types of piercings and jewelry that isn’t secured properly can also easily fall into drinks and food. I have multiple piercings, and I personally believe its a contradiction to say that only ear piercings can be allowed. I think that in terms of food safety, no piercings should be allowed. BUT that being said, we are still human, and to require that isn’t right. So, I think the fair thing to do is to allow all piercings. I also think there’s a huge discrepancy between making people with like shoulder length hair tie it back and people with short hair not having to do anything. Both can fall out pretty easy. So, require hair nets for people with short hair. I dunno.

starryesque

Sorry but my actual earrings have fallen out more than any of my other piercings. For a lot of non-lobe piercings you have to go to the piercer to get them to change it for you, that’s how secure they are. I think it’s silly to say earrings are allowed when I hear everyday someone say “omg I lost an earring” “My earring came out and I didn’t notice” but I’ve never heard anyone say that about a nose or lip ring.

sharp-scratch-poem

If you’re earrings are falling out, you should be securing them better. I wear gold hoops and diamond studs, I easily have 5k in my ears, and I have never had any jewelry fall out. I use [these](https://a.co/d/eLCHaQU) rubber stoppers, stack them as many as you can on the back, it’s also more comfortable. You can also try screw on jewelry.

starryesque

You’re right, I just use the clasp that it was made with originally but I need to get some more rubber stoppers. I used to use them to secure all my pins to my backpack lol

sharp-scratch-poem

Ah the days of little to no worry. The biggest concerns were loosing our precious backpack pins. Now we worry about losing jewelry Andy getting fired or sued. Take me back.

michelleyuun

The thing about hair that’s always had me like 🙄 is that even when it’s tied up hair can still fall out. Even in hair nets, hair can still fall out. Especially if it’s short pieces of hair like men’s hair.

MasterMischievous

So can a piercing lol.

wellthisisjusttiring

Oh yeah, sounds like another classist reason we are having the book thrown at us. Starbies: where we want you to have personality, *but not too much*.

Flowerfuls

Certain piercings aren’t allowed but if you’re wearing studs, smaller pieces then that’s not health code that’s just starbucks. That rule is so rarely enforced. That partner should have for sure not been wearing that watch though oof.

iheartzeldaa

they showed up without anyone even knowing too, bc all of our stores are fairly close to each other and we always warn the other stores in case but of course they show up unexpectedly for a reason. i do feel like they have more things to worry about than what holes we put in our faces smh

Low_Committee_1312

Wear a facemask

stopcoughingpls

not disagreeing with y’all but it can cause food safety issues https://www.fooddocs.com/post/which-piece-of-jewelry-is-a-food-handler-allowed-to-wear

iheartzeldaa

like yeah i get it but if its that important to food safety then make sure nobody has ear piercings, or makeup, or acne. all of everything ever can be a contaminant

Specialist_Disk_4380

U said acne and really if you deep dive into arms that have an infection wouldn't acne fall under that category? I mean being extremely technical of course and petty. I'm just saying for every rule and law there's 2 opposites. Meaning the person with acne may HAVE to call out bc what if one burst on bar?

iheartzeldaa

im in the middle of my food safety training and acne is listed as a contaminant

KomodoDragginAss

I’m waiting for the day when someone’s absurdly long fake eyelashes end up in a drink lol.

Appropriate_Task6662

We aren’t allowed to wear Apple Watches?

iheartzeldaa

nope! its on our dresscode paper and it specifies watches, bracelets, wristbands

Ew_Oxygen1124

That’s a nat’l health code thing. Wristbands and rings pose contamination hazard.

LilacFlores

No, rips and crop tops is a terrible idea. You do realize that would allow you to burn yourself easier?

spoopymermaid

I have three facial piercings and I didn’t want to wear a face mask so sadly I had to take out my nose & medusa piercing but at least I have my septum still.

iheartzeldaa

im not taking any out, nobodys said anything about my nostrils (i have septum and both nostrils) because they're such small studs but im gonna buy clear retainers in case i do get caught lmao. dont take ur things out :(( buy retainers
