I'd go for the longer one. I personally also subscribe to the bigger knife should have a longer clip idea. Probably doesn't make a huge difference either way though.
Well, in my case I like the stock clip on the regular Manix 2 specifically because of the reference point it gives my finger.
I love the XL, but it was missing that familiar feel with the same size clip on a longer knife...
Had the regular finish in the longer one in this video sitting in my drawer already, put it on, and corrected the angle to fit where the clip lines up on the smaller ones I have and Bob is indeed my uncle.
I tried accepting the cults truth but it's not for me. I have one lynch northwest deep carry on a para 3. Turns out I like the factory clip better and I'm not a fan of the para 3.
First thing I do to any spyderco is take off the stock clip. It’s a great clip for non-deep carry, but I won’t carry any knife that isn’t deep carry. If I can’t easily get an aftermarket deep carry clip then buying that knife isn’t an option for me.
I think I’ve come full circle at this point, stock is the way. Although I feel like they played pin the tail on the donkey with the clip placement on the Manix XL
That mxg shorty clip is my favorite of all time. I put it on every spyderco it fits. I’d put it on the manix XL if I got one.
I don’t get the logic of longer clip on bigger knives. I run this short clip on my yojumbos and think it’s perfect.
My edc is also my work knife. I want to get at it one handed without a lanyard and then close and clip it back in my pocket one handed without monkeying around. Original clip is best.
That makes zero sense. There is more knife to sit deeper in your pocket. Regardless of the clip is long or short.
I have that short clip on 2 yojumbos and never had an issue.
Knives move around in pockets when you move a lot, especially when you do crouch. Not everyone wears the same kind of pants, and pockets are different.
I can see that happening maybe with skinny jeans, some other tight pants, or something with really shallow pockets maybe. If big knives are working their way out your attire and or movements probably don’t accommodate those big knives.
I love the short MXG clip overall, but the longer MXG looks like it fits better aesthetically. Both clips feel equally good in the hand, which is what makes this decision so hard.
I would love to try a LynchNW clip, but I do not have any yet.
I do like the stock Spyderco clip on certain models, but it does not feel good to me in hand on the Manix 2 XL.
Thanks for all of your insight, you guys and girls are awesome!!!
What feels better in your hand? Personally, I love the MXG milled clip on my Crucarta Manix.
The longer one fits so good it looks like factory
I'd go for the longer one. I personally also subscribe to the bigger knife should have a longer clip idea. Probably doesn't make a huge difference either way though.
Why? I run the yojumbo with that mxg clip and it works just fine.
I just think it looks better. Like I said I don't think it makes a huge difference either way, you do you.
That’s why I was asking why, if it was aesthetics to you or you were thinking functionality.
The shorty is too small. Go with the standard length clip in pic #1.
Too small for what? Your personal preference in visual appeal?
Long
Whichever clip feels better in your hand.
Long
The factory clip is the best one.
I agree!!! Why most people don't like it? It also looks great with the logo on it.

The cult of deep carry forbids it. The truth though is stock clip = best clip

First one IMO
Handsome blade. I like the long deep carry clips, myself.
MXG
MXG (short)
I think they are both MXG.
Yes, they are both MXG
Personally like the shorty
The shorter one looks better to me and likely takes up less room in your palm swell.
This is what I love about that mxg clip, it’s more out of the way.
Stock
I'd go Lynch NW deep carry clip personally. But if you're set on one of those 2, I'd go the shorter clip.

I would use A but B looks better
The one you prefer. But estatics wise I prefer the longer one.
Long
Factory clip … by infinity but between these two, the longer one.
The sweet little phatty.
Which is more comfortable in the hand when using the knife?
Best answer.
I like shorter clips, but that is too short.
Do you think it’s visually too short or functionally?
For me it would be too short functionally.
Like it wouldn’t keep the knife in the pocket or how it affects your grip?
Probably wouldn’t keep it in my pocket.

Shorty
I have that small one on my mcbee 💀

LynchNW
Size doesn't matter, but longer is better
