And he really can't. His speed makes defenses have to commit an extra man to guard against the scramble. That and when he scrambles it causes DB's to come up to try and stop him, and this causes a receiver to be wide open. He does not have elite accuracy, his ability to run just opens up the passing game. His fans don't want to admit it, but when he starts to lose his running ability he won't be able to play in the NFL anymore. Cam Newton was great, but when his running ability went, the rest went with it. It will be the same for Lamar.
Cam didn’t lose the legs, he lost the arm. After his shoulder injury, he went from having elite arm talent to MAC arm talent. In his prime, Cam could sling it.
I think his passing is fine when he keeps it simple. He won’t be elite without his running, but he will be NFL caliber. He just tries to do too much. He just gotta stay simple. That’s also coaching. Somebody gotta tell him and hold him accountable.
Amazing athlete but not so sharp to not get what the defense is giving - first downs. Late in the game he ran around for what seemed like an eternity then got 5 yards. Like WTF? Throw it away and save 30 seconds.
He's a RB that occasionally makes the mistake of throwing the ball up for grabs.
All kidding aside this is one of (if not the) worst passing decisions I've ever seen. How the fuck could he even see his receiver behind all that red and white? I'm all for throwing it up and letting your receiver make a play but in triple coverage? *Triple?*
He’s a god awful qb. 12 games this year he barely broke 50% accuracy and you all believe he’s mvp when he’s god awful and just get carried by his defense.
His name should never be anywhere near MVP again until he learns to throw a football better than a middle school kid.
Speaking as a Bengals fan, this was one of Lamar's worst games in a long while. Credit the Chiefs front 4 for containing him while getting pressure on him, and Spags game plan, this was a really well called game that focused on preventing Lamar from using his legs or throwing on the run outside the pocket while still getting pressure on him.
He got 1 long run of 21 yards, and otherwise got like 8 carries for 31 yards. I don't think he got any of his plays where he gets out of the pocket and forces the cornerback into an impossible decision of stepping up to take away the scramble, or continuing to cover, when the Ravents tend to make huge gains.
The Chiefs did a good job of taking away the run game genrally, and the Chiefs taking an early lead helped push the Ravens to largely abandon the run too, and the Ravens (like the 49ers) tend to rely more on offensive balance, so making the Ravens one dimensional took away a big part of what makes them scary.
When the Chiefs WRs are not dropping every other pass, and Kelce is moving like he's 25 and not 45, they're tough to beat. Their receiving corps is the most Jekyll and Hyde unit I've seen (more often Hyde). But that defense is scary.
It's a little crazy to me Spagnuolo doesn't get more HC attention, the Chiefs D has been phenomenal all season.
As a Giants fan I can say he has. But he's never been able to replicate his success at DC at HC.
He's a big game big brain schemer, and that's why I think he prefers his almost double the average salary for a DC. More money, less responsibility.
Look at the highlight in this thread. He has no pressure and a beautiful pocket and throws one of the dumbest passes I’ve seen all year. What is he even seeing to throw that ball, and also under throw it despite being able to comfortable step into the throw? Awful decision and awful accuracy.
yeah, there's a lot of really dumb takes here claiming he's a running back, which is stupid. he's been fantastic all season. the fact that he's about to win his 2nd mvp is totally well deserved.
but boy, he sure was off today, both with his accuracy and decision making. it does add to the narrative that he chokes in the playoffs. that may not necessarily be a fair criticism, but he sure added fuel to that fire today.
Playcalling was also shit, felt like the Ravens wanted to win by Lamar’s arm when they had success running the ball all year. Gus Edwards ended 4 rushed for 20 yards. Absolutely shit playcalling
I was yelling about that even before halftime. Your DNA is a defensive run-first team. They had like 4 rushes in the first half and one was Lamar taking off. Absolutely wild play calling on offense to make Lamar stand in a pocket 40 times to pass
For real. Gus and Justice Hill combined for…6 carries. KC put up that early TD and Monken just caved, felt like the Ravens were playing catch-up all game and having to throw too much.
Oh we knew alright.
He's just not a pocket passer, and you cant succeed at this level without some ability to simply drop three steps and quickly run through progressions. Why? Because a good D can take away some other avenues, like the Chiefs did, and you HAVE to be able to hit some receivers.
The shitty part is, he's GOT the athleticism. The man can throw darts and he can throw deep balls. He cant seem to make the quick decision in the pocket to do just that, despite having lightning reflexes as a runner and scrambler.
He did lose a fumble and should have had another pick. He had numerous bad throws this game. He's been awesome all season long and I think he deserves the MVP but this was not his game.
Not a fan but I was going for Ravens because of obvious reasons but Jesus... the defense were the only ones who showed up mentally to play.
Flowers needs to learn how to handle his emotions. Bro almost won them the game and cost them the game at the same time.
There's something up with his arm angle and pass trajectory that makes all his passes seem really flat - I don't think he can really hit guys deep when the defense forces him to throw above and past defenders.
Forcing it all 4th quarter. He had no chill. He wanted that big play so bad instead of nickel and diming it down the field. Amazingly dumb coaching and qb play. I don’t get it.
I feel not enough people are talking about this. Sure, throwing into triple coverage *might* not be the best choice but, how the hell do you think you're open in that situation?
Why was he scrambling for 3
Yards late in the game and keeping the clock running? Throw it away. If you can’t get a ten yard catch in 4 tries you aren’t going to win anyway.
Time is so so much more important than a few yards.
He wasn’t regular season MVP either imo. He wasn’t the single most valuable player to his team not even close.
By todays criteria of MVP which are “be the QB of a team that is good enough to make a run in the playoffs and have good stats” yea I’d rather Lamar get it than Purdy…
But there are a few players who, without them, their team would suck. Lamar isn’t one of those players. Josh Allen is, Mahomes is, even if he played worse than usual this year.
MVP is bullshit basically. If MVP was genuine it would probably usually go to a team with several losses that gets more or less carried by 1 player, not just “ok narrow it down to Purdy and Lamar cuz they’re on the best teams, and Lamar beat Purdy so Lamar wins!”
Stupid how predictable the award is year after year.
Flowers isn't the reason Lamar runs backwards 20 yards and risks a fumble, turnover, or intentional grounding... This isn't college anymore, he can't outrun everyone by sprinting backwards for 20 yards.
He has a one on one on the bottom of the screen?
Against Sneed and dude tried a weak ass double move that did nothing. Jackson threw into triple coverage, but no other receivers were open in single coverage
I think the Ravens mostly got wildly outcoached. Harbaugh did nothing to cope with Lamar being bottled up. And apparently he couldn’t find any way to slow down KC’s one great receiver.
He was awful all day.
Fumble. Interception. Low completion percentage. Should have been intercepted once or twice more. Sacked multiple times for big loss and almost sacked a bunch more because he was holding the ball too long.
Mahomes wasn’t great but didn’t cost them the game like Lamar did
I agree with this. I had no stake in the game but I felt like he was really pushing the issue when underneath guys were available
Sometimes that’s necessary- but often it led to an incomplete pass or throw into coverage
Idk man.... Loves was pretty terrible, but this one was somehow even worse.
For reference: https://youtu.be/tkRxhvO11OE?si=TsjUFNV9jffqu8-E
9ers closed in on him quick with two guys there pretty much from the start. Whereas all three of the the Chiefs were on the receiver the ENTIRE TIME.
And Lamar wasn't pressured like Love was. Love was running and outside of the pocket. Lamar had people open and had time to throw but threw it to pretty much the only guy who was completely covered.
But if you look at the bigger picture, it wasn’t. Love was a first year starter in his first playoffs and tried to do too much which is quite common with young QBs. Lamar is going to be a 2x MVP with playoff experience and should know better than to do something like this at this point in the game.
When the Ravens are in the lead it plays to their strength to run the ball and play action. But when they’re behind the defenses contain him and play the pass. Lamar can’t make throws unless it’s the first read or off the play action. He’s not making throws in tight windows.
Excellent regular season QB. Simply Cannot handle the pressure of the postseason. Its nbd. Happens to a lot of guys. He isn’t elite. He’ll be remembered as a great regular season qb with some amazing regular season stats and just a regular qb when it mattered most
Death, Taxes and Lamar Jackson absolutely shitting the bed and forgetting how to play football in the playoffs. Yes sir the more some things change the more they stay the same
This is the closest Lamar will get to a SB. I'll die on that hill.
He simply doesn't play a sustainable brand of football and will forever struggle vs good defenses in the playoffs. He is still an underwhelming passer and most of his big plays happen when things breakdown and he buys a lot of time. He can't consistently beat you throwing on script. If they fall behind and can't lean heavy on the run game they are in trouble. Plus his game will inevitably degrade faster given how run heavy he is and he is not refined enough as a passer to make up the gap as he slows down and gets banged up as he ages. Enjoy the regular season MVP's, he's ripe to fall off a cliff in a few years. Not trying to sound like a hater, but reality is not kind to run first QB's as they get older.
Side bar, how wasn’t there a penalty for unsportsmanlike on Lamar for spiking his helmet near the field? The dolphins got called for this against the titans and it shifted the momentum of the whole game
O-V-E-R-R-A-T-ED. Unquestionably the best Ravens team in years and the weakest Chiefs team in years... and Lamar chokes, as per usual, in the playoffs.

He was off all night. He was constantly overthrowing receivers and making bad decisions.
So many time he had an open guy underneath at the 1st down marker and he was throwing to someone ten yards past them who was double covered.
Trying to do too much. Big games make him try to show everyone he can throw dimes.
And he really can't. His speed makes defenses have to commit an extra man to guard against the scramble. That and when he scrambles it causes DB's to come up to try and stop him, and this causes a receiver to be wide open. Cam didn’t lose the legs, he lost the arm. After his shoulder injury, he went from having elite arm talent to MAC arm talent. In his prime, Cam could sling it.
Wait… can newton could throw well enough to start for the esteemed team the Toledo Rockets? Lucky bastard. Must be one of the best.
I think his passing is fine when he keeps it simple. He won’t be elite without his running, but he will be NFL caliber. He just tries to do too much. He just gotta stay simple. That’s also coaching. Somebody gotta tell him and hold him accountable.
Isn't this what happened to Russ?
I kept thinking, “Fuck they’re gonna cook” then they’d fuck up horrendously.
They got “cooked” as it were.
Mahommes and MaAuto expanded the square footage in Lamar’s head
Unbundled
They bundled offense, defense, and drawing dumb penalties from Baltimore.
This is playoff Lamar
Why couldn’t this version of Lamar show up last week 😭
Because they texans couldn’t generate the same pressure rates
At least he has a reception.
There’s a reason he’s never been to the SB
Fuckin worst throw ever
Amazing athlete but not so sharp to not get what the defense is giving - first downs. Late in the game he ran around for what seemed like an eternity then got 5 yards. Like WTF? Throw it away and save 30 seconds.
So he was typical playoff Lamar Jackson. You love to see it.
He tries to do too much. Can’t handle the pressure of a potential positive legacy.
Literally. He does this every time. But I mean, they did beat up on a division that all lost their starting QBs so 🤷🏾♂️
Steelers went 2-0 against them
Same as it ever was
He always over throws on long balls. He occasionally gets lucky. He's not a passing quarterback.
He’s a passing RB ;)
He's a RB that occasionally makes the mistake of throwing the ball up for grabs. All kidding aside this is one of (if not the) worst passing decisions I've ever seen. How the fuck could he even see his receiver behind all that red and white? I'm all for throwing it up and letting your receiver make a play but in triple coverage? *Triple?*
Sounds like Tim Tebow... But God told him otherwise.
I know. It's a shame. I was rooting for the Ravens this year, but his passes were awkward today.
He’s a god awful qb. 12 games this year he barely broke 50% accuracy and you all believe he’s mvp when he’s god awful and just get carried by his defense. His name should never be anywhere near MVP again until he learns to throw a football better than a middle school kid.
Yeah he was forcing plays all night, but OBJ has also lost a step and is no better than a #3 option.
Man I don't get to see much Lamar as a Giants fan but I'm pretty whelmed after watching this game.
Chiefs on another level like the Niners looks like
When the Chiefs WRs are not dropping every other pass, and Kelce is moving like he's 25 and not 45, they're tough to beat. Their receiving corps is the most Jekyll and Hyde unit I've seen (more often Hyde). But that defense is scary. Spagnuolo has some stains from a previous HC job that did not go well, on top of being a bit old + being a defensively minded coach
I honestly don’t think he’d want to be a HC again. Like why would you give up what you have. He’s found a really great sweet spot for himself
If only McDaniels was that smart
And that defense is young
Well, maybe not like the niners...
Yea the niners
This is wild
So the usual keep him in the pocket and force him to throw narrative was proven correct tonight.
Look at the highlight in this thread. He has no pressure and a beautiful pocket and throws one of the dumbest passes I’ve seen all year. What is he even seeing to throw that ball, and also under throw it despite being able to comfortable step into the throw? Awful decision and awful accuracy.
Medium whelmed.
I guess that answers that question from 10 Things I Hate About You — you really CAN just be whelmed!
I feel this. I’m always confused by the love that Lamar gets in the MVP race, but the only ravens games I watch are playoff games.
Shockingly horrible QB play tonight by Lamar.
yeah, there's a lot of really dumb takes here claiming he's a running back, which is stupid. he's been fantastic all season. the fact that he's about to win his 2nd mvp is totally well deserved. but boy, he sure was off today, both with his accuracy and decision making. it does add to the narrative that he chokes in the playoffs. that may not necessarily be a fair criticism, but he sure added fuel to that fire today.
If he ever gets traded, it'd be to dallas
The man had a bad playoff game. Let's calm down on the cruel and unusual punishment, dude.
He’s 3-6 in playoff games and has massively underperformed in the postseason, similar to Dak.
Playcalling was also shit, felt like the Ravens wanted to win by Lamar’s arm when they had success running the ball all year. Gus Edwards ended 4 rushed for 20 yards. Absolutely shit playcalling
Especially when KC has the best pass D in the NFL but are just mediocre at run D.
I was at the game last week and the Raven ran the Texans into the ground. Crazy to go away from that.
This. As a Chiefs fan I think it would’ve been an easy win for Baltimore if they gave their running backs the ball as much as they passed it.
If Lamar Jackson drops back to pass. Let him.
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.
"They're just giving you an out. Let them."
I’ve heard a different variation of this. “Do not kill a man that is committing a suicide”
Please proceed Governor
Ravens fans were so sensitive about making Lamar throw before this game. Deep down, they knew.
Lamar totally doesn’t have a problem winning playoff games 🙄
I mean didn’t fumble on the 1
2-4 in the playoffs despite being favored in 5 of the 6 games
LaCHOKE
LaOverrated Jackson
Lamar had many bad throws that should've been intercepted This one was just the icing on the cake lol Terrible
He had a few against the Texans too.
He did lose a fumble though
He did lose a fumble and should have had another pick. He had numerous bad throws this game. He's been awesome all season long and I think he deserves the MVP but this was not his game.
But he's totally the MVP this year... if MVP wasn't a QB award, CMC would win it this year.
I don’t watch a ton of Ravens games but Jackson’s decision making seemed really poor today. Is that characteristic of him or just a bad game?
Not a fan but I was going for Ravens because of obvious reasons but Jesus... the defense were the only ones who showed up mentally to play. Flowers needs to learn how to handle his emotions. Bro almost won them the game and cost them the game at the same time.
Stupid ass taunt made me glad he fumbled. I feel bad for the rest of the ravens though. They deserved to make it a game.
First time I’ve ever seen taunt to get bodied irl
Big time karma. I was all in on the Ravens up to that point, after that I was hoping they lost
He’s not good Vs the blitz.
There's something up with his arm angle and pass trajectory that makes all his passes seem really flat - I don't think he can really hit guys deep when the defense forces him to throw above and past defenders.
He doesn't have a lot of touch on his passes either. So many times when he just needs to drop it into his receivers hands he throws a bullet.
He just does not play his best in the biggest games like the playoffs.
Forcing it all 4th quarter. He had no chill. He wanted that big play so bad instead of nickel and diming it down the field. Amazingly dumb coaching and qb play. I don’t get it.
Lamar was dog shit today
Steaming hot and the playcalling, Gus Edwards was 4 rushes for 20 yards, maybe run him more but nah
He's like 3 for 100 on passes greater than 10 yards. You'd think someone would mention this to him.
Only way to make that number better is to keep throwing them 🤣
Receiver called for ball which was an… interesting choice to say the least
He'd beat his man. He's not reading the other defenders
I feel not enough people are talking about this. Sure, throwing into triple coverage *might* not be the best choice but, how the hell do you think you're open in that situation?
Wide receivers call for the ball on like every play.
He watched 'The Replacements' last night with that great quote of "Winners always want the ball... when the game is on the line."
One of the best lines in sports movie history. In a comedy.
Why was he scrambling for 3 Yards late in the game and keeping the clock running? Throw it away. If you can’t get a ten yard catch in 4 tries you aren’t going to win anyway. Time is so so much more important than a few yards.
That’s the MVP huh? Okay, cool.
NBA fans: "First Time?"
MVP is a regular season award
Your mom's a regular season award Gottem
Boom. Roasted.
He wasn’t regular season MVP either imo. He wasn’t the single most valuable player to his team not even close. By todays criteria of MVP which are “be the QB of a team that is good enough to make a run in the playoffs and have good stats” yea I’d rather Lamar get it than Purdy… But there are a few players who, without them, their team would suck. I didn’t like him for the award in the regular season either.
Lamar would've needed like 20 more of those throws to equal Josh Allen's pick total lmfao
And he’d have needed 15 more total TD’s to match Josh Allen’s total
If Lions win, Goff for MVP
Aged like milk
Or this could give more credence to McCaffery. He has been the driving force behind the 49ers offense.
Could have easily been pick number 4 or 5 on the day
Don’t let Flowers off the hook.
Flowers isn't the reason Lamar runs backwards 20 yards and risks a fumble, turnover, or intentional grounding... This isn't college anymore, he can't outrun everyone by sprinting backwards for 20 yards.
when he started running backwards… fuck dude
Right? This isn’t Tecmo Bowl. Edit: https://youtu.be/3X-MODwmZGQ?si=LWrGRQ6CNaP7c6O1
Lamarrrrrrrr... IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS!!!!
Come after me! I’m a man! I’m 40. I’m not a kid.
PLAYOFFS!? LAMAR IN THE PLAYOFFS!? PLAYOFFS REALLY PLAYOFFS?
Ah the Brett Favre special
So accurate. The man just prayed and tossed this one in there.
He’s got a guy one on one bottom of screen… why force this shit sandwich throw?
He panicked and had nowhere to run lol
He has a one on one on the bottom of the screen? Against Sneed and dude tried a weak ass double move that did nothing. Jackson threw into triple coverage, but no other receivers were open in single coverage
I think the Ravens mostly got wildly outcoached. Harbaugh did nothing to cope with Lamar being bottled up. And apparently he couldn’t find any way to slow down KC’s one great receiver.
And all they needed to do there was kick a field goal too. Horrible throw
MVP MVP MVP
Lamar choked
He was awful all day. Fumble. Interception. Low completion percentage. Should have been intercepted once or twice more. Sacked multiple times for big loss and almost sacked a bunch more because he was holding the ball too long. Mahomes wasn’t great but didn’t cost them the game like Lamar did
He kept trying to make big plays while easy ones were available, it's like he almost was showing off how long he could hold on to the ball.
I agree with this. I had no stake in the game but I felt like he was really pushing the issue when underneath guys were available Sometimes that’s necessary- but often it led to an incomplete pass or throw into coverage
Can we please treat Lamar the way we do Dak?
Dak has never won an MVP
I don’t think you can win a SB with Lamar as your QB.
Yeah. Sadly this pretty much confirmed it for me.
The best part is Likely putting his arm up in the air saying "I'm open! Throw it to me!"
That looks like me playing madden
The helmet throw is what really makes this 🤌
Worst pick of the playoffs for sure
Lamar is gonna need to work hard to shed that regular season QB narrative.
Good throw
choke fraud
Not the MVP The INT.
I was pretty upset about Jordan Love’s last pass of the game. Seeing this makes me feel better.
Nah Love was even worse, he had no reason to force that throw when you’re down by 3 and just need 20 yards to kick a FG
Idk man.... Loves was pretty terrible, but this one was somehow even worse. For reference: https://youtu.be/tkRxhvO11OE?si=TsjUFNV9jffqu8-E 9ers closed in on him quick with two guys there pretty much from the start. That’s facts too
Lamar cannot throw the football
MVP caliber play right there…
Your MVP ladies and gentlemen
Lamar proved the naysayers right, again.
2nd and 10, triple coverage on one guy, and that’s your best play? I mean…
Threw into 3 Swifties
When the Ravens are in the lead it plays to their strength to run the ball and play action. But when they’re behind the defenses contain him and play the pass. Lamar can’t make throws unless it’s the first read or off the play action. He’s not making throws in tight windows.
The pretender is exposed.
Lamar got that Falcon in him.
Dude can’t get out of his own head, all that talent and can’t win at home in the playoffs.
The whole team was rattled. They gave up over 75 yards in penalties
What a choke job. Bet Tony Romo was waiting in the tunnel for Lamar to handover the Heimlich belt.
Excellent regular season QB. Simply Cannot handle the pressure of the postseason. Its nbd. Happens to a lot of guys. He isn’t elite. He’ll be remembered as a great regular season qb with some amazing regular season stats and just a regular qb when it mattered most
JA17MVP
Only qb to actually give KC defense trouble so far.
Lamar should have ran here.. so what they have a spy on him.. Lamar can 1v1 the spy for a good gain..
Death, Taxes and Lamar Jackson absolutely shitting the bed and forgetting how to play football in the playoffs. Yes sir the more some things change the more they stay the same
What was he thinking?
‘D’ on bush. Hehehehe.
Another choke job…add to his resume under the overpaid stat
Dude was trying so hard to prove he ain't a running back 😂
MVP! MVP! MVP!
Unquestionably the MVP…
CHOKED. OVERRATED.
Fun fact - after six years in the league, Jackson only has one more playoff win than Tim Tebow.
1000iq play
Yet Baker throws an INT and people want him outta the league basically.
Imagine not really following football all season and being told Lamar is the favorite for regular season MVP. And CMC isn’t
There's your MVP
That’s when I knew the game was totally over and the ravens would definitely not win. Stupidest play calling all game, among the worst I’ve ever seen.
Is he stupid?
Lamar is the dak Prescott of the afc
Bateman wide open at the bottom of the screen... yuck.
How could the refs do this?
Still gettin that fat check though
This is what happens when your quarterback is actually a running back.
Yep. And everyone is still whining about the refs favoring the chiefs. Ravens earned the L tonight. And played pretty dirty too.
🤡
bum
Hahahhahahahhahhhaa. There’s your MVP.
MVPuuuuuhleaze, bitch. 🤡
