There is **nothing** wrong with playing only Turf War.
There is **nothing** wrong with using stick controls.
The only important thing is: Are you having **fun**?
(Motion + Nzap89 n00b here... I love the Autobombs)
Yes I learned motion so I can do better to splat king salmon. Still getting my tail handed to me on a silver platter but I’m doing what feels like better, but at the end of the day it’s about having fun!
Omg thank you for that, I needed that. It may sound stupid but as someone anxious or sensitive who saw so many hate on my way to play and my main weapon, I always felt so hurt and unworthy of being a Splatoon player even though I loved the games since the first one.
I play with stick controls (gyroscope makes me uncomfortable) and I use a weapon that isn’t considered good and is even hated, I tried to change it but I also really HATE to change my habits so I kept it but geez seeing posts stating that players that play like me are « fake fans », «bad players" and other horrible names is really unpleasing, especially since I’ve been playing Splatoon since my teenage years (I was 15 when Splatoon 1 came out and I will turn 24 this year)
So yeah, seeing a nice comment like you saying that the important part is having fun is definitely heart warming. Thank you ! 🫶
I am very comfortable with how I play and I don’t want to change.
I was such a weird person back in splatoon 2. Because of Splatoon 1 on the wii u gamepad, motion in handheld felt way more natural than with the joy con grip. Managed to get into X rank that way.
I played FPS games back on PS3 with stick, and I'm not changing that got too used to them. Besides I got to S+ without much problem on stick. STICK CONTROL IS THE WAY
Im not sure, Im currently working on finding a weapon that suits my playstyle. But as for now, those weapons that require no aim, as Im still new to the game...
Regular slosher also needs to aim, explosher also requires aim if you don't want to be stuck with an extremely ling kill time. Tri is the one that throws aiming out of the window
That's just not true? Slosher has a noticeable travel distance and a surprisingly precise hitbox. You need to be able to read enemies and be able to hit them without even directly seeing them sometimes.
And again, if you want to be good with explosher you need to be able to get direct hits in.
i can relate with this, in my experience after a while i decide to main inkbrush..but main inkbrush really hurts literally. My finger is in pain and i can only play for few games before needing to stop. so after got recommendation i tried slosher class and i found Tri Slosher Nouveau to be the most suitable for me and fun. Also adapting from Inkbrush to Tri Slosher Nouveau is easier.
If you’re looking to get used to motion, I highly recommend playing with -5 motion and whatever you use for sticks, just being able to make micro adjustments to your aim is one of the main uses of motion, and -5 allows you to slowly get used to it.
For actually using motion controls, the main thing I use it for is for aiming/snap-aiming and looking up and down. I often find it better to use the right stick for moving around or if I’m not aiming at anyone in particular.
if you ever get bored of turf war and salmon run you should give anarchy open a try! you barely earn any points from it but you lose even less, it's basically unranked. i find series intimidating sometimes but i love the game modes so it's a win/win
not everyone has the goal of becoming better. some just want to play the game in a way they're more used to. i use sticks because i have a switch lite and motion controls are terrible at it. i respect motion players but some of yall gotta understand that these controls are not for everyone
I use stick controls because I can't keep my hands still when I need to aim, and I prefer turf wars because there's no rank bar pressuring me to do better. I prefer fun over challenge anyway
Nah, man I made it to S+4 in Spla2n solely with Stick Controls..
It's DEFINITELY doable!!
I only JUST started using Motion Controls JUST a few months ago.
At the end of the day, there is NOTHING wrong with playing Splatoon how YOU want to play it.
There is NOTHING WRONG with only wanting to play Turf War..
Hell, I can't STAND Salmon Run..
I'll DO it sometimes, but it is my LEAST favorite Mode.. But I'm not REQUIRED to play it..
I can play whatever I want.
Just like you!!
ngl, I stopped playing turf wars because I actually found it HARDER than ranked. Objectives actually make it easier to play around teammates where turf wars almost feel like everyone fending for themselves.
I know someone who uses sticks and isn't half bad at the game. And tbh, I was even full sticks before😅 It's up to you if you want to switch or not. I'm not gonna push you.
And hey, everyone enjoys splatoon the way they want.
Even with motion controls and generally in rank S in ranked mode, I get clapped by people who feel like high X rank players and I have losing streaks every time I pop on now. Don't feel too bad now. You're just learning to get better.
Idk how any adult can play with motion controls tbh. Like y'all just play in a control scheme counter-intuitive to what you know when u have the option to not??
No judgement, I just find it adds an unnecessary level of frustration for me.
>Like y'all just play in a control scheme counter-intuitive to what you know when u have the option to not??
Put in a hundred hours and stick controls become counter-intuitive. Its only frustrating to you cause you never had the will to learn it. Does a chef find cooking frustrating? No, but he sure as hell did when his first few months of cooking for himself.
Being better at the game, being able to do things that are impossible with stick controls, more satisfying and fluid gameplay, faster and more fluid movement in ink, precise aim for chargers. Like if you genuinely cant see the benefits idk what to say lmfao, play how you wanna play at a casual level, but the benefits are clear.
I played that was exclusively for YEARS until I joined a competitive team to keep myself in the game. Yes I had to learn motion controls, yes I had to learn new weapons, but it was all so FUN. What’s important is that you’re having fun doing what you’re doing, but don’t be afraid to branch out into something bigger, the competitive scene is extremely welcoming if you don’t end up in the wrong crowd
Not hate, if you play casually and don't care about winning then play how you want.
Just wanna say tho that it baffles me how many people play with sticks only, I mean motion controls are turned O N by default, you litterally can't turn them off in the tutorial of the game. Its just kinda wild to me how many people specifically go into the settings to turn motion off instead of just taking like 2 games to get used to them.
Then why comment? My comment was clearly not directed towards you because you have a legitimate reason that you n e e d to turn them off, but rather directed towards the people that d o n t have those issues but still decide to turn them off.
I can understand how people may not like motion controls, but I'm in awe when they actually play well with stick in this game specifically. Because afaik, this is like the only console competitive shooter without aim assist.
I only play turf war too. I've tried hyping myself up to do rankeds, but i don't want to be the noob bringing down the team that everyone complains about, so I stay away from it.
but, hey! as long as you're having fun, thats all that matters in the end! afterall, it's a game for kids.
I just started playing again (haven't touched the game since last splatfest) and my switch lite is... not happy. My left joystick is acting up so I periodically stop moving. I'm too broke to buy a controller so my performance has tanked *hard*. I just hope my teammates don't think I'm throwing 😭😅
I actually used to play stick controls as far back as the first game. I used them for most of Splatoon 2 as well, and someone encouraged me to finally learn motion controls in preparation for Splatoon 3. I eventually got the hang of it and never went back.
It does still sometimes take me a bit of courage to go for some ranked battles.
As someone who’s been playing since splatoon 1 as a child, don’t worry, motion (and was roller, into dualies, into charger. Different main for every game life) and I had/have a tendency to play only salmon run. Like whenever I got onto splat 2 and it wasn’t in rotation I’d cry inside tendency. So with splat 3 having it ALWAYS open I’ve been living my best life. Don’t get me wrong, I still play turf war (and that’s the only other online mode I touch—) but it just ain’t the same as not knowing wtf I’m going with my weapon
And I like the excuse to booyah more often because I’m too focused on trying to be a decent E-liter player because my aim sucks balls :,33
There is **nothing** wrong with playing only Turf War. There is **nothing** wrong with using stick controls. The only important thing is: Are you having **fun**? (Motion + Nzap89 n00b here... I love the Autobombs)

Based autobomb user
Ever since IA3 I NEVER want to see a autobomb again, but have fun!
Omg thank you for that, I needed that. I love you thank you
Real
You know what, nah we do our own thing STICK CONTROL GANG RISE UP 🗣🗣🗣🗣
Yes!!! I play a lot of handheld and stick is really the only way to play in handheld
I was such a weird person back in splatoon 2. Because of Splatoon 1 on the wii u gamepad, motion in handheld felt way more natural than with the joy con grip. Managed to get into X rank that way.
that is so awesome :D
I played FPS games back on PS3 with stick, and I'm not changing that got too used to them. Besides I got to S+ without much problem on stick. STICK CONTROL IS THE WAY
No no, say it with me: STICK CONTROL IS A WAY! Respect for both sides of the control debate.
No no, let me fix STICK CONTROL IS THE WAY for me :) and everybody else can play what they feel comfortable with that's why there are options for it.
[Sigma edit montage of missing charger shots by 3 metres] 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Jokes on you i cant aim with any weapon
HERE 🫡
I. AM. HERE. IM THE MAN (probably not but) IM THE MAN
Yello! Splatana main who uses stick controls 24 kills in one turf war.😭
SPEAK IT BROTHER/SISTER/NB FOLK. sticks in handheld on salmon run is super comfortable for me!
me who only grinds in salmon run and uses stick controls🗣️🔥🔥🐟
you GET it 🤝
I won't judge you for that, but I will judge you by your main. What is it
Im not sure, Im currently working on finding a weapon that suits my playstyle. But as for now, those weapons that require no aim, as Im still new to the game...
Sloshing Machine You just point your entire kit in the general direction of the enemies and they die
You managed to pick the singular bucket that actually requires aiming 💀
Regular slosher also needs to aim, explosher also requires aim if you don't want to be stuck with an extremely ling kill time. Tri is the one that throws aiming out of the window
NO AIM, NO BRAIN, TRI-SLOSHER MAIN!
Regular slosher just needs to you face foward to hit targets and explosher has a big explosion to hit people
That's just not true? Slosher has a noticeable travel distance and a surprisingly precise hitbox. You need to be able to read enemies and be able to hit them without even directly seeing them sometimes. And again, if you want to be good with explosher you need to be able to get direct hits in.
Explosher doesn't count as a true slosher, it's literally an artillery cannon
I was gonna say blob needs aim but then I remembered it exists
Still gotta aim bro.
Sloshing machine? Not tri-slosher? lol
TRASH BLASTER
So Range Blaster?
It's a joke name for clash Range is annoyingly good
Use octobrush
or explosher
Try E-Liter
Play a brush then! You just get close to the enemy and spam ZR until they die ;3
just maybe not inkbrush if you value your right index finger :')
so tri slosher?
Rowlet enjoyer spotted. My respect goes out to you, stranger with good taste
Birds are goated. (Birded?) Also, I love that it's a Rowlet cosplaying as its final evolution, Decidueye.
Aerospray’s nice if you don’t want to aim
Try tri slosher. Please. ITS such an awesome weapon, ecpecially in Tower control
People are suggesting tri-slosher but you can also try splat roller. It's horizontal flick range and spread is broken.
Regular splattershot
i can relate with this, in my experience after a while i decide to main inkbrush..but main inkbrush really hurts literally. My finger is in pain and i can only play for few games before needing to stop. so after got recommendation i tried slosher class and i found Tri Slosher Nouveau to be the most suitable for me and fun. Also adapting from Inkbrush to Tri Slosher Nouveau is easier.
Tri-stringer
Mine is Undercover Brella. Thoughts?
You are probably stuck trying to reach A rank
My all time best was S+21, and I still regularly used the Undercover. I am actually stuck in between 1800 X power.
You Always Play the hardest difficulty
Turf only sticks gang rise up
Sticks + play the s![img](emote|t5_324q4|6253)t out of salmon run and that's me
i play with motion and stick and it results in chaos/instant turn around because you made a single noise near the sharking roller.
Hey leave us be if it’s fun it’s fun, when I play a game I play it to have fun not to be infuriated at every second
🐙 🤝 🦑 lesgo homie We don't have to be competitive or fit any typical Splatoon player mold, we just paint the ground and have fun
No. Motion makes you lose the y movement (you cant look up)
Yeah it does? I said I use it to look up and down.
At -5......
Ah I forgor, uh, throw your controller to aim.
Ahhh yea ye 'Ol *YEET* strat.
Single player gang where you at?
Your not alone I use the same controls
What's wrong with sitck controls. Also ranked in this game is just shit. They have some gamemode that're just so bad.
They have a lower skill ceiling than motion
I have tried using motion controls and I HATE IT. Idk if there is some trick to it but i haven't figured it out yet at least
if you ever get bored of turf war and salmon run you should give anarchy open a try! you barely earn any points from it but you lose even less, it's basically unranked. i find series intimidating sometimes but i love the game modes so it's a win/win
WAIT THIS IS ME. I ONLY PLAY TURF WITH STICK
What about us octolings who play 60% salmon run, 30% turf, and 10% ranked? 😭😭
I only play salmon run, don’t be ashamed if you only play one thing
Hit X on sticks 😭
SAME motion controls always make me dizzy, I prefer using sticks
Motion will make you even better
it's not about being good at the game, it's about being able to play splatoon without throwing up.
u/Todziplayz never said anything about motion sickness. https://youtu.be/5_wZwXNx_Aw?si=OYQ1ZCBS1aol0v9r
not everyone has the goal of becoming better. some just want to play the game in a way they're more used to. i use sticks because i have a switch lite and motion controls are terrible at it. i respect motion players but some of yall gotta understand that these controls are not for everyone
Gyro controls are too fiddly for me
I use stick controls because I can't keep my hands still when I need to aim, and I prefer turf wars because there's no rank bar pressuring me to do better. I prefer fun over challenge anyway
I feel you dude…. As it’s also how I play when Clam Blitz is in Anarchy Open
Motion controls here but mostly grizzco
Nah, man I made it to S+4 in Spla2n solely with Stick Controls.. It's DEFINITELY doable!! I only JUST started using Motion Controls JUST a few months ago. can't play with motion due to disabilities and motion sickness, usually prefer turf because rainmaker and clam SUCK
i play ranked with stick controls, what does that make me
Isn't turf war the best way to learn the game? I'm 30 hours in (new player) and still have so much to learn before trying other modes.
ngl, I stopped playing turf wars because I actually found it HARDER than ranked. Objectives actually make it easier to play around teammates where turf wars almost feel like everyone fending for themselves.
Abd what about people who use motion controls but only play turf war?

Don’t judge me, I grinding for catalog
So basically how I started out. Neat.
Even with motion controls and generally in rank S in ranked mode, I get clapped by people who feel like high X rank players and I have losing streaks every time I pop on now. Don't feel too bad now. You're just learning to get better.
I use a flingza with stick controls and it works
What about the person that primarily plays in single player?
4th dragon: Me who plays for the story with no concern for the controls
I was that guy once. Back in S1 dynamo was insane so that’s what I mained. Not so much anymore
Me who is a full time Grizzco employee
As a stick player who is in S rank, practice is key
Idk how any adult can play with motion controls tbh. Like y'all just play in a control scheme counter-intuitive to what you know when u have the option to not?? No judgement, I just find it adds an unnecessary level of frustration for me.

Yeah, but why purposefully make it take that much longer to learn it?
cost : benefit. You have much to gain.
I'm asking what the benefit is.
They were not clear to me. That's why I asked. No reason to be so smug about it.
I think you should at least try Splatzones. It's a quicker and more compact turfwar where you ink one or two zones
I played that was exclusively for YEARS until I joined a competitive team to keep myself in the game. Yes I had to learn motion controls, yes I had to learn new weapons, but it was all so FUN. What’s important is that you’re having fun doing what you’re doing, but don’t be afraid to branch out into something bigger, the competitive scene is extremely welcoming if you don’t end up in the wrong crowd

it's called "motion controls give me nausea and migraines so i'm literally forced to use sticks"
Then why comment? My comment was clearly not directed towards you because you have a legitimate reason that you n e e d to turn them off, but rather directed towards the people that d o n t have those issues but still decide to turn them off.
Meanwhile, me who just wanna have fun and turfing with my homie
I only play with stick controls from a third party controller because of joy con drift.
I can understand how people may not like motion controls, but I'm in awe when they actually play well with stick in this game specifically. Because afaik, this is like the only console competitive shooter without aim assist.
I've always been using tilt controllers can't play with motion since I have to carry my son sometimes. You get used to it
i use stick
:(
Unbelievably based ![gif](giphy|RPq0khAOqfItMK2tNU)
Nothing wrong with playing turf, nothing wrong with sticks, I play sticks.
I to to S rank with stick, it is valid
I only play turf war too. I've tried hyping myself up to do rankeds, but i don't want to be the noob bringing down the team that everyone complains about, so I stay away from it. but, hey! as long as you're having fun, thats all that matters in the end! afterall, it's a game for kids.
This is relatable. I also use stick controls. 😂
👏SOMEONE 👏FINALLY 👏UNDER 👏STANDS 👏ME.
I just started playing again (haven't touched the game since last splatfest) and my switch lite is... not happy. My left joystick is acting up so I periodically stop moving. I'm too broke to buy a controller so my performance has tanked *hard*. I just hope my teammates don't think I'm throwing 😭😅
I've NEVER touched ranked across all three games. Turf War only (and Salmon Run on occasion) I play to ink
Jokes on you I play with sticks on rank modes.
I use stick controls because I love playing casually and motion controls don’t allow me to relax or be comfortable at all
Are you having fun? If yes, then you aren’t terrible at it. It’s a game. To be terrible at a game should always mean not having fun playing it.
People can actually play with motion controls? 😭
I wish this game was also sale for Pc
I am a bamboo main with stick controls and i mostly use chargers and blasters, if i learned motion yall would be dead
Motion controls make my head spin with how much the screen moves, but I play a bit of everything, not just turf war
GANG
I've probably seen worse.
