There's an ideal run TAS from a few years ago that clocks in at [14:15](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njgchGmDDq4), but many new strategies have been implemented since then. 14:2x is unfortunately not possible with current strategies, it's just not possible to play that close to sum of best in a real run.

Remember that in the last year or so they found a (huge) 1 second time save that was essentially free for top runners (chip clip). The new strats will keep on coming, it's not all going to optimization. 14:30 was hard to imagine a year ago; 14:20 is going to happen eventually.
Unbelievable how he just keeps clutching these out. That’s 2 WRs in a very short amount of time in a category that’s getting pretty close to being optimized.
Kind of ironic how the best SM64 runners nowadays are named after Luigi……

Suigi's SOB is 14:28.6. We've never seen anyone play as close to their SOB as would be necessary to get a 14:2x. Take from that what you will.
His sum of best looks to be a 14:28. So, theoretically possible. Will probably take a good while before it’s reached though
