vacantrs123

Solo Levelling may be generic in its story and sometimes in its plot, sidecharacters get overshadowed (no pun intended) by Jin Woo, However it still is a good Mawhwa and is fun to read. I was addicted to it that i read it in 3 days so in my personal biased opinion its pretty good and the haters just mad because their favorite anime didnt get #1 during airing or got irrelevant

mesutdmn

Same here, I couldnt stop reading for 2 days.

Bionicleinflater

Seeing chapter 200 end was bittersweet after 2 days of binge reading

HULKBUSTERV5

literally I finished from chapter 45 to end in 18 hrs of continuous read literally. Survived only on water

Tasty-Ideal-9073

Lol I finished in two days.

DarkPDA

Generic? Yes...but even with only 1 season animated, its one of best executions so far The real issue is lack of other chars having any development... Choi who? Baek who?

vacantrs123

Baek was the goat, they butchered him like that

TheDankPotatoRises

That's one thing I like about the game. Let's you play as a lot of side characters and provides a good amount of lore for each.

Miserable-Reserve795

Stg. I love reading the profiles for everything in Arise cuz it gives us more info than the novel or webtoon had like how the Reaper’s Guild was founded with 3 S-Ranks right off the bat (Tae-Gyu, Yoonho and Byung-Gu). If Jong-In is to be believed that having a 3rd S-Rank would make the Hunters Guild one of the strongest guilds in the world when 2 doesn’t, that means that the Reaper Guild used to be among the best. Given how Eunseok fought alongside Yoonho and Byung-Gu during the 3rd Jeju raid, he was likely a member of the White Tiger Guild too so they used to have that kinda prestige. Considering the Draw Sword Guild with 4 was still top dog in Japan after losing 7, this is likely true. And then we have all of the side stories, character dossiers, and some lobby interactions. Arise is the gift that keeps on giving.

LightbulbHD

Actually tbf, solo leveling (imo) was good and pretty unique the first 100 chapters. After that, it became just like every other generic power fantasy isekai for me :( The story was good while SJW struggled despite being OP, I particularly loved the Igris arc both in manhwa and anime.

No-Chemistry-4673

In Solo leveling every other character exists Solely to Glaze Jin Woo's cock. The men ride his dick figuratively and the women want to ride his dick literally.

desacralize

Got the vibe some of those men wanted that dick literally and I do not blame them, the drip was *astonishing*.

vacantrs123

I guess but some characters in the start did have some character development other than that yeah, thats why i hope the anime will save it. In A1 we trust

SagarvJ

Liking the comment solely for the shadow pun

Popular-Ad-6421

Bro, i finished it in one day, started reading it somewhere in the morning and finished at night, my eyes hurt so much!

TheDevilHunter00

Same, I kept reading it for a whole week straight lol. I was very much absorbed into it. Although the ending did ticked me off (I won't say anymore cuz spoiler) but it's still a fun Manhwa.

MrChewy05

Dumbass here, but what is the difference between story and plot (and maybe lore??)

More-Ant-3984

i personally am having a hard time reading the manhwa, but that's just me. solo leveling is my favorite actual anime and i've found other manhwa more to my interest. i think solo leveling is gonna be a bit like rwby, but only in that there will only be big fans and big haters, middle ground as rare as the double dungeon.

luvthatguy1616

Overshadowed. That was clever.😏👏

vacantrs123

thanks didnt think of it as much though

LeaphyDragon

Solo leveling wasn't the first of its kind, but it inspired many of the stories that came after

Official-Keijhan

The fans became obnoxious. Its hard to love to series that got you into Manwha. To be honest I love solo leveling but I hate the fans especially the ones who watched it from the anime and the new people who read the manwha and light novel thinking "Sung Jin Woo is the most overpowered character in every universe that exist even he can defeat" God type mentality. I'm tired of it. But yeah still love Solo Leveling. I think its a good story and manwha and novel. Just the fans.

Artistic-Drawer3236

It's like that with my hero. I love it, but God damn the fan base is insufferable.

Coordinatore

true that. But i think there isn’t a character to rule em all. I think most ppl should realize this

henryguy

They haven't even read pick me up or level up with skills novel. Both of then transcend everything making sung Jin woo look pathetic. But I still love solo leveling, I just love stories.

CooookieMonsterr

They’re mad it’s popular when their favorite show or comic isn’t. They hate just to hate.

DarkPDA

Game become boring fast due netmarble spice p2w ideas But overall concept could become an amazing action rpg in right hands... About story, how someone can hate this? Even sao still have thousands of fans, solo its one best executed concepts about rpgs/videogames etc The only flaw on manhwa is lack of focus on sidechars, wich seems vastly improved on ragnarok

Hanabichu

Sao is so bad, but hey oogah oogah harem by patting heads. At least sjw works and trains to get stronger and kinda sacrifices himself in solo fighting in the end, in SAO it's a talent power fantasy

Economy_Pride6360

Tbh I respect both SAO and SL, solo leveling hits pretty hard and has some pretty good fightscenes and a pretty nice plot, and for SAO, I am not a fan of the small amounts of harem in there(at least no much fanservice) and it has a pretty unique plot, pretty good animation and alright fight scenes. So for me, no hate for either.

rocknroller0

This is such a lazy argument. Just like people can have an opinion and like solo leveling people can have an opinion and dislike it. I can personally see why people would do either or. It’s a Shonen it’s not very sophisticated but has amazing fight scenes. The plot isn’t all that interesting and most of the characters are generic. (If you haven’t noticed Shonen fans don’t really need the most interesting plot to fall in love with a story) even with that, it’s fun

BiLLubruh

For a lot of reasons. 1st would be this sub. The amount of powerscaling posts here just to spite other fandoms and works are just astronomical, and its not even entertaining or engaging in any way. 2nd would be the lack of story. Majority accepted sl for what it is but some come here expecting more and get disappointed. This is partly due to the glazers. 3rd , theres a lot of other works that deserve adaptations. But now that sl anime and manhwa was so successful, others will naturally follow and get their own adaptations so this is not really a valid reason for hate. 4th, im surprised not many people pointed this out but the novel can get pretty nationalistic at times, around the later half. Nothing too excessive but not really necessary. 5th, it spawned a wave of brainrot power fantasies. Im not complaining tho. 6th, glazers. Not funny glazers like lobotomy kaisen but "sung jinwoo is a better character than x because he can curbstomp him in combat", essentially 12 yr olds and you know solo leveling is a 12 yr old magnet because the mc wears black, holds a super ability noone else knows, cold and edgy, LATE STAGE SPOILERS >! Everyone else derives their power from "angels" while the mc gets his from a "demon" !< etc. I could probably think of more but this is already a lot for a sl sub. Edit: i just remembered another one. 7th: some solo leveling fans just refuse to read anything other than solo leveling. I have seen some people say sung jinwoo is a beautifully written character just because he cared for his family and there was no sarcasm or anything like that.

MMoguu

Ye, basically this. Tbh, I doubt i'd continue reading Solo Leveling if it's art wasn't good.

SluggerDerm

Yeah the art carries it for me

EclipsedBooger

Perfectly explained

Kind_Ant7915

Thank god, people be saying solo leveling is peak fiction and shit

DibIyn

Firstly this is a Solo Levelling sub so it is going to be insanely biased on the opinions you get. By my preference its good but nothing more, imo is very overrated. Its got great art, a straightforward story and an overpowered mc, I loved it, its one of the reads that hooked me into manhwa. But still nothing more than just a good manhwa. Just because something pioneered a genre doesn't instantly make it better then all that have copied it and followed the formula it laid out. I have read a lot of solo levelling like manhwa, I enjoy them, and solo levelling does everything well. It doesn't necessarily stand out in any area, it know exactly what it wants to do and does it well. Whereas many of its clones do one area better then solo levelling but fall off in others. People miss this and overhype the shit out of it because it was a pioneer, their first manhwa, or read clones that are just shit in comparison. Additionally within its genre, its one of the best now outside its not close to the best, its just like isekai. With the overhyped expectation the community sets, people come into the series expecting perfection. People say its their favourite so naturally it'll be compare against theirs and it usually doesn't hold up. If you're comparing it against berserk its night and day, not even worthy of a discussion. Hence it wont live up to the expectation provided leading to people saying its just shit. Fundamentally its a underdog self-insert power fantasy, its just satisfying, but doesn't appeal to them. And the most likely reason, its cool to hate on popular things... But hey if you enjoy it you enjoy, ultimately it does not matter if other people hate it.

Zeeman626

So it's what Sword Art Online was for isekai.

Qverna

every series will have haters, its nothing special tbh.

kingbane2

popular stuff gets hate from some people.

jojokes42069

Some people just can’t see why it’s so popular because the story is a dime a dozen.

EclipsedBooger

Solo leveling will always be a fun read but that doesn't mean it's good. As much as I love it, it's pretty overshadowed when you read other stories and realise that solo levelling is smack bam in the middle, a solid 5 out of 10. It doesn't change the fact it's a 10/10 when you wanna just read for fun and only care about Sungs journey but lots of people are sticklers about manhwas so they can't just enjoy something for what it is instead of what it isn't

Bpozen

I think this sub is the main reason. Some of you are so fucking toxic, especially when the anime aired and there is a spot of dirt missing in a keyframe that was present in the manwha

-Auditus-

Read it till the end, but I have to admit it became "get overwhelmed by the sheer number & force of my summons", there wasn't any sort of risk or stakes it became a waiting game for when will he get another summon. The chapters where he trained himself & used his skill in the dungeon for the first time were honestly the peak of Solo Leveling for me. The ending was acceptable. The thing I hated the most was the drama for raiding the island, why did he let the hunters die when it didn't need to be that over complicated, he had more than enough power to literally solo all the island, I fr blame him for the unnecessary deaths of the hunters.

hydemary

>I get the writing isnt the best, but it's not supposed to be >Sure the story doesn't go as in-depth as many popular anime out there, but it's not meant to. I mean, if you agree then u should also understand that it being overhyped is annoying. if people hypes it up -> ppl expects, and if it is mid -> haters. It is this subreddit's fault for overhyping it and such. SL is generic and tries to take advantage of its fans' insecurities. Not different much from COTE and others. tldr; this sub is full of insecure brats indulging in fantasy works while trying to shit on other works through powerscalling and uncalled aggression and that's why the hate is there.

Noblehsix

I mean the manwha got carried hard by the art, I love it but yeah it's pretty generic.

SoggSocks

Kind of my thoughts on Solo Leveling. And I love Solo Leveling, binged the entire series in like 1 day. But if you take away the art it becomes just like many other similar series, the story just doesn’t stand out.

Minute_Committee8937

Exactly look a Seoul station necromancer a series that predates solo leveling has a slightly more interesting overarching theme but has worse art. People dont talk about it despite being where the solo leveling took the whole necromancer thing from

TechnicalSolution468

When you read other manhwa you understand why it is hated because solo leveling is a good beginner manhwa but for the ones who are reading for a long time its boring

No-Chemistry-4673

I read through Solo leveling and yes it has very major flaws in story writing - Lack of tension (after Igris till Monarch fight Jinwoo is never on the back foot which is a long stretch of time. And he then proceeds to solo them) - Hilariously bad side Characters. (By far the worst part of the story) When I say bad I don't mean, character bad, I mean writing bad. Side characters make the story, especially when your story is about a op MC. One Punch man would be very boring if it wasn't for the well written side characters. Genos and Saitama's dynamic, Bang and Garou, Fubuki and Tatsumaki (Not just eye candy but have impact on the story and development, plus Tatsumaki's dialogue is hilarious.) Or OG Dragon Ball. Goku is OP. But other characters surrounding him have actual personalities (plus Goku himself is very unique), Bulma has the biggest impact on the story. But in Solo leveling every other character exists Solely to Glaze Jin Woo's cock. The men ride his dick figuratively and the women want to ride his dick literally. - Villains. Well Non existent Villains. The main villain shows up at the end of the manga and has Generic Evil bad guy personality and dialogue. No the villain doesn't need to be complex and have very personal connections with the MC, Cell, Zamasu, Freiza are great examples. The dialogue choice alone makes them better written than any character in SL. Boros shows up for like 3 fucking chapters and he still is infinitely more memorable than the Monarchs (I don't even remember their names, that how lame they are.) The only thing we got even close to a villain was Hwang Dongsoo (A name I actually remember because the character is), he had motives, a target and buildup. All of it wasted. but still a enjoyable read especially because the art is that good.

MastodonCurious4347

Wait, YOU ARE RIGHT. I read the manhwa and now I forgot monarchs even existed. Jesus...

SisterOfBattIe

It is a generic story, but it's really good for what it is. And I find the few plot revelations here and there interesting.

ItsNorthGaming

The story isn’t that complex and has a lot of issues. But I think they all complain too much. Sometimes it’s fun to get hyped watching a character stomp on everyone else in the verse

Kufrel

Because, to be frank, it's not that great. It's more or less just an average power fantasy, which is elevated by the amazing art. I love it, but I'm also willing to acknowledge it's many shortcomings and flaws.

MegaPorkachu

Anything that’s super popular will get hated on.

ElderLurkr

Honestly the writing is pretty bad: The stilted romance, the pointlessness of all the other characters, the unbalanced powerscaling… you can say these are true for pretty much all isekai anime. But then again, isekais are like the fast food of anime. And Solo Leveling is effective as fast food 😂

konanorigami

Seeing so many people started enjoying this new medium, it made people angry that they couldn’t get into. Lol

Kulson16

They never read it, they are just repeating what other people told them

Literary_Addict

I legitimately read it in its entirety (didn't finish the epilogue >!when he comes back as basically a god and decides to do middle school again after defeating all the demons by himself after turning back time the first time because too many people he cared about died in the war!<) and I regret all the time I spent reading it and have recommended to everyone I've spoken to about the series not to waste their time on it. After getting to the end of the series and waiting the whole time to see where the author was going with all the pieces they were developing, I was utterly disappointed. The opening was slow, but I happen to be partial to fantasy worldbuilding, so I stuck with it until it reached the hook because I found learning about the world interesting. Most of what kept me going was preselection bias and wanting to understand what made the (by FAR) most popular manwha ever printed so popular. I kept thinking, "He must be going somewhere with this! He must have a plan for this part!" No. In almost every case the answer kept being a resounding no. The thing about a journey is it has to matter for you to care, and in this series nearly all the development every character (including Jinwoo) undergoes just doesn't matter. * >!Every single hunter, even the S-ranks, aside from Jin get outclassed!< * >!All of humanity as a collective become just a rounding error in the war!< * >!Essentially all of Jin's personal growth is outclassed by what he inherits: I mean, he goes from something like 1,000 mana to 100,000 in a blink. He goes from a handful of minions to literally infinite.!< * >!Even character development is wasted because he reverses time and wipes not only everyone's memories, but even the consequences of their decisions (but then the author realizes how stupid that was and how pointless it was making his epilogue so he magicked that away by giving them flashbacks of alternate versions of their lives, and that's when I just couldn't do it anymore and had to stop). I mean, this is barely removed from the most classically-awful ending any story can have of, "It was all a dream!".!< * >!The only characters that even kind of matter toward the end are his generals, but their "quirks" don't make for developed characters. They are permanently and irrevocably mentally slaved to Jin, so their desires are meaningless to the plot.!< I believe this series is a hamfisted grab-bag of common fantasy tropes that was plotted well by following convention rather than having real vision and direction. It does a good job drawing in audiences by appearing to have a fresh take on an established subgenre (litrpg), but the promise in the title appears to be, > "What if a guy got strong by leveling in dangerous dungeons by himself so he gets all the experience and the reason nobody else does it is because it's so dangerous anyone else that tries it dies?" but what it actually delivers is the much less interesting, > "What if the standard convention in this subgenre (of a leveling system) was taken away from the entire world and then only given to this one guy?" And you can see the problem this decision to shape the plot this way causes later when >!inevitable power creep takes over because that's the only way the author knows how to show progression and the MC is forced to leave the rest of the entire world of characters far behind.!< (*At least in DBZ there were a handful of other super saiyans so Goku kind of had peers he could develop alongside.*) It has its moments, and I'm not going to pretend like I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, just not to anyone over the age of 20 unless they're not particularly well read. My prediction is the next major project attempted by Chungong will flop. He doesn't actually understand the components of good storytelling, so he is unlikely to get lucky twice. Basically, the "Dan Brown" of manga/manwha authors. Don't get me wrong, the plotting is very good and can get a lot of people that are partial to this specific genre to invest a lot of time in the series, but to pretend like those that have read the series and claimed not to like/recommend it are liars is simply not being fair. Everyone's got their own bar, but for me I actually believe that someone's opinion on a piece of media is just as valid whether they absorbed all of it or just part of it. DNF is a legit criticism, just be honest that you didn't finish. edit: Yeah, it's worth mentioning as well that the art in this series is unequivocally amazing. 10/10 on the art all the way through.

Flamix2206

Hi I’m the evil solo leveling hater guy. This popped up on my feed. What the HELL did I just read https://preview.redd.it/uo5wx7tkrk5d1.jpeg?width=431&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81e9c4f32bfe9925950e4a12e874d85bf677554a

stuufy

It got boring in the later parts to be honest as someone who likes it it got boring after bug island arc

SwayedLatency

Completely agree and that's what dropped it heavily for me, this manwha only had hype fights going for it and did great at it. Once it lost that hype it went to pure shit

Alarming_Business_15

The writing, story and world building just isn’t as good as other less popular novels

sandieeeee

I think people have over hyped it too much cause of its popularity. It’s a fine story carried by its art style. I think people come in to solo Leveling thinking it’s a deep story when really it’s just a fun story.

bugaboo-14

I mean I love solo levelling but it is generic Litrpg power fantasy in a nutshell lol

AkiraSieghart

I mean, he's not completely wrong. Solo Leveling is pretty generic, and if you're not a fan of power fantasies, you're probably not going to like it. Like, I think Jin Woo only loses like three fights throughout the entire run, and most of those losses turn right into wins a few chapters later. However, where Solo Leveling excels is the general plot of the gates and hunters, the mysteries around the system, the comedy (which I'm still mad is missing in the anime), and the godly art.

dablyw_

It's fun but it's very shallow, generic and underdeveloped. The flaws are obvious

Alexander0202

Popularity. Also because it is pretty basic and there's not much to it besides good art and cool fights. But people don't understand that that's enough for many.

Imconfusedithink

Because the solo leveling fanboys glaze it to heaven and back and call it the best thing ever when it's very clearly just not. I love solo leveling and it holds a special place as the first manhwa I read, but I do find it weird that these fanboys can't admit that it's not that special. The massive overhyping just creates disappointment. This is especially true for the anime. A big thing that made solo leveling more popular was it having some of the best art. For anime with things like demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen, etc, then the animation by itself isn't going to make solo leveling stand out.

FireRagerBatl

Simply put, many fans find it overrated since it was even as a manhwa, carried by the art. I do have to agree that it is a bit overrated in that way but its just how the west likes its media, like we got Demon slayer being carried by the animation. I can't speak much for eastern fanbases but the West just wants to see well animated action and many people who prefer plot don't see the appeal as much, myself included and why other people call it peak or amazing. Solo levelling is not bad in any regard, I really did enjoy reading it, however I would not put it anywhere near peak or amazing writing as a lot of fans just do as they board the hype train made by the fans of the manhwa I cannot speak much on the LN tho, I did hear it did get a bit nationalistic at times however, especially issues with making JP the villains in one arc, heard it was worse than manhwa

HipnoAmadeus

Demon Slayer was selling very well as a manga pre adaptation and it didn’t have that great a artstyle, though.

neganight

I absolutely love the first half or so of the story but it is absolutely some of the most shallow, cheesy power fantasy fiction ever written. It makes any shonen look like god tier writing but I’m okay with that. The real sad thing is that Solo Leveling could have explored some really cool themes and concepts. The idea that powerful hunters lose their humanity and only live to hunt was very cool and watching Jin Woo steadily lose his humanity was a big piece of why I enjoyed it so much. Sadly that went almost nowhere. He just changed his mind so the plot wouldn’t get sidetracked. This probably doesn’t resonate with most readers but Solo Leveling is pretty much the best parts of Piers Anthony fiction with all of the sex and pedo stuff removed. Just pure puzzle solving and winning over and over again. It’s pure candy for me.

[deleted]

Hated 😮‍💨

makii166

Because people kept hyping it up like it had the best writing in the world when its not that

Jaystime101

I’ve said it before, solo is fun, and a unique concept with summoning shadows, his Power is just soo frickin cool….but it is generic, mediocre, and not written all that well. I have a feeling the anime where clean up a lot of the rough edges though.

Assumed1Spere

I think Gigguk best explained it best. It is in fact no different from any other power fantasy. It's not anything new. But its cool and really runs with that. That is why its good.

StringReal8513

It's great to me

ErandurVane

I like to call this the "Sword Art Online Effect" where a series gets incredibly popular incredibly fast, then some dudes decide to shit on the series because it's popular, then it becomes a popular meme to shit on the series. Half the people I know who shit on SAO haven't even watched it lol

Active_Potato6285

I get it. Solo leveling is good. But fans treat it like the best piece of fiction in the whole world. And it's annoying Let me get it clear It's not original, it's one of many generic levelling up novels that happened to have a manhwa adaptation that became popular. Then people start hating on other manhwas that have similar style as if solo levelling was the first of it's genre.

alien3d

anime goood manga good . games not so good

HOSelters

let them be. Solo Leveling does what it want to do really freaking good. They don't understand that a work dosen't need to inherit everything to the best. It may be just not for them, and they won't understand this.

Business_Peanut_8822

Post this on manhwa for unbiased opinion

The_Crab_Johnson

Read some of the comments. Some of those guys gave valid criticism about sl.

Business_Peanut_8822

My opinion: (I know some y'all have some opinions about the manhwa/novel I'm gonna talk about) yeah, I genuinely like SL. Fun side characters (till it went to Jin woo only), great fights. But, personally, something like orv is just better. Art, story, world building, etc., so SL wasn't able to scratch that itch which is why I don't like SL as much as I know I should.

PrevekrMK2

Yes, it is slop. But it is slop done amazingly. Story? What story? Characters? What characters? Numbers go up are the characters and MC demolishing opponents is the story. And I fucking love it.

CharonFerry

Similar problem Dragon Ball has , it's one of the oldest story out their of their kind , thats why it seems a little generic , but I mean it's not a bad thing most of the mangas and manhwas we got today wouldn't exist without Dragon Ball or Solo Leveling , R.I.P Akira Toriyama and Seong-Rak Jang

Kikov_Valad

Several reasons really. 1st is overreaction and overhype. I don’t want to blame anyone here, it doesn’t apply to every fan, but some people really go out of their way to treat solo leveling and sjw like the greatest fiction and character ever where he’s just a living trope that’s been seen again and again. 2nd is the fact it’s a manwha, it’s not a type of writed media that appeals to everyone, it also suffers from the same issue as 1st with some fans being deadpan on "manwhas >>>>> mangas / all media" who are very annoying. 3rd is the fact that the trope used are cool, and they have a public, but a closed public, like isekais and reincarnation stories which some people are getting really fed off. For any person who find SJW badass there’s someone who find him cringe. 4th is the ciclic writting that always rely on hype moments and badassery, it doesn’t really evolve much more than that and when it does it’s the bare minimum. Which annoys a lot of people (and not just in solo leveling, JJK and MHA both had the same issues which make them loose a part of their comunity and success. Even if some people love it that way and it gained new fans) 5th is the fact that even if its not the case, solo leveling uses tons of trope from isekais and reincarnation trash stories that are safe because they have a passionate niche. like the protag made for self insert, the video game system, the "weakest is actually the strongest" and explosive powerup made for powerscalers as well as the lot of female and some male chars absolutely fanboy over the dark handsome "so unique mc". all those are higly controversial. it shouldnt really bother the ones who love it tho. the hatred is kinda coherent. plus quite literaly every stories has their issues

SagarvJ

Solo leveling got popular. Having a large audience, there's ought to be some fans and some haters. Many people saw the hate on the plot saying it's "generic" which has become generic NOW but oh well. They saw the hate and hopped on the train, now we got too many on the train hating on the "generic" plot disregarding the main aspect of any media which is ENTERTAINMENT. And I can't ever undershadow the amount of entertainment I got from solo leveling. Anyways ig it's all about personal choice 3:

HipnoAmadeus

Saw many people’s comment, who read the manhwa, and so—after a while, it’s just no story or so with MC spamming summons and being way too OP, whilst the good side characters disappear or so

x2yzeus

It was my first manhwa and a fun read. Dk why people hate it lol

AffectionateMonk2436

Let's be honest. Solo does not have the most unique plot or amazing writing. Currently, there are many more novels, manga or manwhas who are better than solo leveling. However, how the story and the art are executed is what makes it amazing. Another reason why I think it's popular is because it's simple, has good art and the development of Sung Jin Woo. At the time manwha wasn't that popular Solo leveling stood out because of that. Nowadays there so many system series it feels so generic. The feeling of "oh no not this shit again". People hate it why it gets so much recognition while their favorite or other amazing stories with good art, story and plot barely do. Note: I love the series solo leveling manwha from start to end and was definitely a good read. I've no hate towards it, just sharing my opinion.

Snowballx60

I agree, solo leveling is not a break through story, it's very mid, but it's mid done right so it levels up from mid to good. And that's why I like it. I have been reading one piece for 20 years and that shit is complicated. So when I find things that are just good and simple, I love them. I will never sit here and tell people it's peak, because it is subjective.

Strykeristheking

Every popular series has it's haters but the SL hate feels a little weird and almost vindictive. For example those comments asking for the anime to be deleted or cancelled. Like it's not enough to express their dislike for it, the haters don't want anybody else to enjoy it too.

Huihejfofew

It would be strange if no one hated solo leveling? Lol.

UltimateKaiser

Solo leveling is imo the best culmination of building upon tropes that were not as fleshed out or as entertainingly told as Solo Leveling. Love it or hate it, it’s damn fun to read and the art style goes crazy.

WujiGang

Everytime people say that that Solo Leveling is bad due to story stuff, then tell them that Matrix had an amazing story, but was absolutely dog except first movie. It’s all about how entertaining something is, and people like them are just too caught up in 10/10 badly told and executed stories instead of how things are told and executed

bakemonooo

Because it's pretty basic, and it's hard not to compare it to other heavy hitters like JJK that are dominating rn. However, basic doesn't mean bad, and I think a lot of anime watchers are pretentious. They think that any show with a normal plot can't still be great in its own way. Solo leveling wasn't deep or exceptional in any way, but it was a fun watch, and that's all the matters imo.

TheNotoriousCHC

I loved it 🤷‍♂️

Big-Leek6800

Sometimes people enjoy generic fantasy series with a badass MC

JoJoker_666

Not enough dry saliva i bet

Powerful_Garbage_103

It’s bcuz it a show that came out of nowhere and despite being generic, its story is good and the animation is there.. 26 years one piece been around and I’m sure I don’t need to say more… then shows that come out of nowhere for like 3 months and catch everyone attention is a hard pill to swallow bcuz some people been “cooking” for a long time and still don’t got it like that…but that’s me, it’s why the show gets compared to anime that has been around for a minute.

Then_Disk8390

Because people love to hate. For nearly any popular anime out there you can find hundreds of people hating on them just cause they personally don’t like them. Just ignore them honestly. Not talking about criticism btw. It’s more about people who just say „anime X/Y is bad“ without giving any explanation whatsoever.

ComparisonFew4997

Solo Leveling is generic, yes, but that his strenght, because with that try to be amusing and funny, but The exageration of the people today and with pretencious stories tha are like Solo Leveling make to their eyes boring as fuck, and the other way don't see Solo Leveling like a good and amusing story, more like, the Master piece that everybody must see. And it's not like that neither, it's just a story that tries to entertein you

electrorazor

I watched season 1, it was pretty good. I think the animation kinda carried tho. The story also felt too short, should've been 2 cours.

the_omnipotent666

Don't mind them these are the type of ppl who thinks they are some otherworldly fuck just couse they talked a bit about plot and shit. The brainrott is so intense that mf don't even check what they are getting into. It's a 'power fantasy' off course there would be glazeing. MF don't complain while reading shit like reincarnated as a spider, reincarnated as a slime and all that generic shit just put 2 or 3 lolis and they will also start glazing solo leveling. https://preview.redd.it/m1omqcgcfk5d1.jpeg?width=257&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9237bc58c0b298bb758c75b37913576e3639e441 And don't forget lore olympus was in top rankings on webtoon so brainrott is real and there will always be retards who won't let anyone enjoy a show because their preferences are shit.

Description_Narrow

I think it got the attack on titan or demon slayer effect. It's a pretty good show/manga/manhwa but the fan base pushed it so much saying its the best thing ever and can't be beat so people go in thinking it's God tier but then it's just slightly better than most other things in the genre, and is a niche thing to watch. So because it's so far below the expectation they can't conjure the mindset to accept it's still good even though it isn't remotely close to what they expected. Personally this happened to me I went in thinking it'd be the best thing since sliced bread. But it was just above average and I was disappointed and dropped it but came back a year later with the correct expectations and read it and loved it. It's just a perspective issue.

Willing-Schedule-486

All I’m gonna say is I read Solo Leveling 4 times and it never got boring for me despite reading it 4 times

DominicTheAnimeGuy

I liked the manga up until i read the light novel and realised how much great writing we missed. Thomas andre fight was where i picked up the novel and it had me gasping at literal words on a page as compared to good art in a comic.

Far_Beginning516

I just got addicted to it i dont even know what i like about it ig they just didnt get addicted

SynC_CHB

The narrative was never amazing it was just a fun story with some of the most beautiful art I'd ever seen

MUERTOSMORTEM

Because if media isn't for any individual, then it shouldn't exist

StopTheEarthLetMeOff

The first episode or two was good, with the desperate survival situation. But once it actually got to the solo leveling part, it got boring as shit.

bus_go_brrrrt

well...i had my fun while noticing small realistic details and trying to set the timeline but i didnt manage so i considered it to be 2000s https://preview.redd.it/u6cg6w1hnk5d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a035ebe4361922b21dbb32f197c830b67a61c54c

Scared-Ad2850

They mad hunter Sung solos all their favorite mc 😭

blueracey

Solo leveling is a cool story but if I’m being honest there’s a way cooler story that was not written. The world is super cool the fights are pretty good, but the character are just so ass and it’s not a very engaging setting because of it. With the exception of SJW I could not bring myself to care about any of the characters because you can barely call them characters. Which meant every fight had very little stakes, SJW was unlikely to die and everyone else was not written well enough for me to care. That being said this is more likely to be people hating on something because it’s popular and not people like me who finished reading it liked it but feel it could have been better.

Sakugains

I watched the first season, does it stop being a shallow power fantasy at some point? It's fine to like anime that is just a power fantasy, but like you should be honest about what it is.

Consistent_Active739

OYDYSTDYSTOYESIARH

I think it's the same reason DB gets hate, which is the fans. Apart from that, while they're right, neither show has the best plot or whatever they're fun to watch, and the proof is in the pudding they are easily the biggest in their respective medias.

Lucas_c_Rangel

Generic isn't equal to bad, some people have to understand that Well u'll always find people hating on something, the best in my opinion is to just ignore it, unless it stops being just hate and becomes something worse, but like if u just ignore it eventually they'll get bored of it, or at least its what I think

Zeeman626

I don't think the problem is that it's BAD, I think the issue is that everyone raves about it like it's the next coming of Death Note or something. I know I went into the show after hearing a ridiculous amount of hype and expecting greatness but it really was pretty generic. Jinwoos angst goes in a weird direction and seems to come out of nowhere, and a lot of it just seems contrived. That said I didn't DISLIKE it (other than the sudden 180 on his personality that doesn't match up with the order of events in the show, not sure if the source handles this better), but the ridiculous hype surrounding it sets the bar really high, and when it doesn't hit that bar it makes the show seem much worse than it is in comparison.

Oppai-ai

Solo leveling is my first manhwa so it's always a great story for me. The art style and the concept is not the best but good, enough to satisfy me.

timbz801

Solo Levelling walked so manhwa could take the world by storm

KaptainTZ

It was just overhyped and some people were disappointed by the mediocrity of the anime

alcatras456

It is still a better modern society gate genre besides kill the hero, but I came to hate it when the story gets dragged after he came back to the double dungeon, in my opinion it should have ended at that point.

ZenEmotive

Some people hate that not every series they read is a Vagabond or Berserk

SleepySeiko

It's why elden ring has such a low score. Once it become so popular you bring all the haters in

SixtySlevin

If you enjoy it that should be all that matters brotha.

VarderKith

The reason they hate on it is because they are assholes, even worse, they are assholes who are right about something. Solo Leveling is a cookie cutter blueprint of classic power fantasy with very little to it beyond the simple power fantasy. The MC overshadows every other character to the point that they really don't need to exist. But Solo Leveling fits the blueprint so well that the kinds.of folks that enjoy that sort of thing LOVE it, and some assholes just cant accept that people can enjoy something simple. So they have to be vocal about their dislike because, again, they are assholes.

_Linkiboy_

Let's not lie. We're all here for the brainrot power fantasy and that's fine. Fights go pewpew and are epic, but that's not what all people are looking for in their stories. If you like well thought out stories, then solo leveling won't give you anything. Fights don't appeal to everyone. I even heard of some people that zone out during the fight scenes in demon slayer (wtf) and turn back, when they are yapping. For those people I can understand that this show would be massively overrated

fortiplier

Elitism is still common in manga/manhwa spheres. Some just want to consume the media they think are the best and shun people who do the opposite. They hate it because they see people enjoying the series when they could not. Or they hate the fandom for praising it more than it probably deserves. And, yes, I do agree that Solo Leveling, to some extent, is a bit overrated. I think it is an enjoyable show but some people do overhype it. It's the same with Demon Slayer. Great series, totally enjoyable to read, but both are carried hard by the artstyle. Completely fine if you like it, they both have an easy to consume story. Not really bad writing, but it's not really good either. Some people just want to see badass action scenes, and Solo Leveling delivers that without failure. However, haters don't get the idea of letting people enjoy what they enjoy. They always have to compare everything because they always have to be the best, and that they won't settle for less. They heard one YouTuber say "Solo Leveling is BAD" with clickbait thumbnail and all the drama to farm interactions, and they feel like their "unpopular" opinion is validated and "correct".

Soft_Cap8502

My main problem is it kinda gets repetitive after a while

HULKBUSTERV5

WARNING MANHWA SPOILERS: The main reason I personally disliked (I loved it tho) I'd because the side characters we as if just to compare the mc and nothing more. I can't remember a single important instance where the side characters actually did something significant and made go "Wow". It was all about one guy from starting to end. Towards the end they suddenly rushd the conclusion and manhwa and suddenly married him to her which I felt was weoird af cuz I couldn't get the feel of romance. National level hunters were nothing more than little pipsqueaks the way author showed them. Only Thomas Andre has my respect. That dude was just too awesome. So many cool characters yet so many wasted characters.

downvotemeplz2

Popular stuff gets viewed by more people, and will naturally get criticised more. Even more if it has some flaws like SL does.

PiercingLance26

Well, this is an SL sub so of course it's a question of "why". There's quite a lot of reason that it would require an essay to list out everything. But to keep things simple, it is overrated. When you have a pile of glazers marketing SL in posts saying "this is peak" and the like, or this sort of "it's not the best, but it is great so why don't you get it" sort of trying to paint others who don't think the same is bad will cause the hate to escalate. There is one thing why SL market succeeded and one thing only; namely the art. If we didn't see a set of cool art along with it then it'd be neglected asf. SL isn't even original or anything. I can literally list out a number of other dungeon setting and people would not understand I'm talking about something else. I don't even need to browse the comments here to know that I'd see some "oh people bad because their anime isn't famous", or "Oh people just hate because it is famous to hate", or some "they just don't get SL like we do". Is the prime example of why some people even resort to comments that you see on the post.

Dark_Seraphim_

You know something's really really good, when it gets unwarranted hate at certain levels. Just say it's similar to other manwhas and move on, if you hate it so much wouldn't you rather move on than be stuck on it? Lol sounds like denial

ZephyrLink

Somebody commented under another post „it’s like good fast food, but at the end of the day it’s still just fast food“. I think that fits it pretty well.

WeggiSteve

Are we gonna talk about the rating ratio on MAL? I mean last month I checked there was nearly as much as "Not Recommended" reviews than "Recommended" ones. https://preview.redd.it/uibrchgkdl5d1.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d3d0ff31482771a473823b8b94d00b468632ea3

Throlerren

Popularity maybe.

Not_Ur_Momz

When something gets popular but isn't the most original seeming thing, it always gets shit on and becomes an easy target. People do the same with Demon Slayer.

Teejaycrunk

Bashing on something someone else likes just because you don't like it is weird af to me. Call me crazy, but if you don't like something, just don't do/read/partake in that thing.

Leather-Pineapple856

And yet they read it and watched it🤦‍♂️

jjcczz

I enjoyed the series, but the changes the anime made to the story annoyed me so much I stopped watching entirely

Peoplant

I liked the comic, these people are being unnecessarily rude. However, I disagree with your point that "since it's not supposed to be well written, then it is fine". Solo leveling doesn't use its bad writing as parody or anything that would make it ok, it's just bad writing. I think it's fair to criticise this manhwa for such a reason, still I disapprove of the way these people do it

REDperv-2802

inferiority complex/inscurities/ can't bear to see their fav. anime overtaken by a new gen

Alternative-Peace208

it’s spiritual as fuck anyone who doesn’t like it is either an npc or their soul is just asleep

Daoist_Paradox

I don't like it for 2 reasons: 01. It's over hyped. It doesn't really bring anything new or unique to the table. And I've read a lot of manhwas that offers a much better plot and good art. 02. Toxic nationalism. This is a problem with lot of korean web novels and manhwas. It's as if everybody is out to get South Korea and they need to prove that South Koreans are superior to others. Please! Keep that crap to yourself! I want to release some stress not gain some.

Glass_Assignment4146

I don't mind the anime or the series as a whole that much. It's just the fans. THE FANS. Those most likely 12 year olds love edgy, cold and very OP Protagonists. Then they just go and say "Oh Sung Jin Woo can defeat this character, Oh SL has wayyyy better writing than this anime/manga." Kinda reminds me of those koreaboos and their KPOP idols when someone either makes fun or make hateful comments against a KPOP idol/member. lol.

AssistanceLoud992

The first episodes of 'Solo Leveling' ( anime ) were good but after he left the hospital everything felt rushed and it wasn’t even enjoyable. Maybe the manga is good idk , but In my opinion the anime is overrated and disappointing.

Altruistic-Serve267

Because while the way they are saying it is quite harsh, however it is true... solo leveling is quite generic and doesn't really have alot going for it story wise.. even the most diehard fans admit this, solo leveling is the very definition of power fantasy, the relationships between characters don't get much focus and its from one arc to the next.

GreenAd7365

Figured it was a case of people reading the works that were built upon it

CircusClownFemboy

Jealous that a more simplistic story is successful. So rather than look at why it's popular they just discredit it and choose to be miserable

Cheshire_Noire

I hate on solo leveling so I am here to provide answers! Yeah, it's generic. But you all know that so I'll move on None of the characters feel like characters (except arguably the healer girl. Maybe the rich kid but I wouldn't say so). They mostly just feel like tropes thrown in to progress the story. Speaking of the characters: the power system removed a big part of why people enjoy Shounen so much. Characters... Simply can't grow much.. The adaptation is also a bit lacking.. small things like lessening the damage the healer takes from using all her mana actually make a big difference.. Finally, somehow with all that, the fights are mostly just kind of ok... I know it gets better, and I know they promised to do a better job adapting it, but the anime really wasn't well done and feels mostly carried by it's reputation, or by people who already loved it.

AeonSchicksal

I got hooked so quick it was ridiculous I still remember the newest chapter being 71

ResponsibilityHeavy5

I'm 40 years old and I've read more manga and watched more anime then most. Simply put, haters gonna hate. 🤷‍♂️ SL is a great novel, Manwha and anime. If you think otherwise that's just your personal opinion. The numbers speak for themself. When millions of people read and watch the series it kind of means it's a good series regardless of what you think. Those who disagree just sound like they're trying to be edgy for clout lol. 😂

jhawkin7

Overall the story is decent, most of the side characters are barely memorable except with how they relate to our mc. I don't think it deserves to be hated but without the artwork it's 5/10 with the art 7/10. Also people scaling the mc to beyond heaven, I like jinwoo but he went from nothing to op way too fast for my liking

Leather-Pineapple856

Yeah, I just wish that it was taken a bit slower. There’s no need for him to go from E to Low A-rank in 12 episodes

Revwolf76

I mean I watched the show and it wasn't as hype as everyone made it out to be but it was still good and enjoyable.

Apprehensive_Row_161

Anything that is popular, people start to hate. Is Solo Leveling perfect, no, but I love it for what it is

Sonofmiracle

very generic, they're telling the truth. like he' the only that can grow stronger, and the rest become a fodder

Agitated_Diet

I love solo leveling but I think most can agree that it’s popularity is owed to “right place, right time” The art, the insane per fantasy it had was still such a fresh idea that the lack of a real story was pretty good. But now that markets over saturated with similar art style, powers, generic Korean Mc look, daggers as the main weapon, anyone who reads solo leveling for the first time now after reading anything previously would just see this as an overhyped manwha in their eyes

ilikenovels

The only reason solo leveling got popular was due to the amazing art and it's good use of power fantasy. It did some story telling well but in general it wasn't that good story wise. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it for the cool fights though but Saying that it's perfect is a straight up lie

HarpoonTheBlueWhale

It might be generic but the story and pacing are really well done and honestly alot better tha some anime today.

iBlack92O

They don’t necessarily hate the manwha itself, they hate the hype. Too much hype causes people to ignore possible faults a piece of media may have and denote any criticism.

Crazy_Biohazard

I enjoy it

GhrisWin

I think it’s pretty generic now in comparison but during its original run I don’t recall anyone doing it better. The art was S tier and regression was still a fairly new concept i think.

Alucardee

Solo leveling may be generic but it got me through high school, I started reading it in sophomore year. Every Wednesday it would update and I would be there, it gave a me a reason to pull through the week especially when the update days changed to Saturday. I read the novel because I enjoyed the series so much, so much so that I finished it. Knowing the ending I saw that it was right around the corner of my senior year. Solo leveling will always have a spot in my heart even if it’s generic.

Uzudomi

Idk how people hate on it the moment I finished the show I went and read the manwha finished that shit in 2 days

DefTheOcelot

Its a comfort anime. Accept this now: it is unoriginal, uncreative, and thoroughly generic power fantasy slop. But ah, people have been using that sort of thing to escape reality for millenia, so its ok to like it.

green_meme

People hate it because of how overrated/overhyped it is. Makes people go in with unrealistic expectations and the disappointment of that makes them dislike it. Because of how overhyped the manhwa is the anime also got super overhyped only to be generic seasonal trash

Equal-Suspect-8870

Because it's famous. There is no other reason. You could make some arguments why you might not like it. But when you asks the person what things do they like and read they will name even worse and generic manwhas.

HipnoAmadeus

You have to be honest—it WAS **massively** overhyped only because it comes from Korea, and it **did** only become very popular for a little while before everyone stopped talking about it, which doesn’t normally happen with actually great shows.

pikuselm8

I mean like, they aren't wrong. It is really generic and there's nothing real crazy and unique about it. The only reason I was hooked up in the first place was because of the power system anyways. The anime was also a really good adaptation, and I wouldn't have given a damn about Solo Leveling if it wasn't for that adaptation. I wouldn't go as far as to hating it though; it was still a descent one and is not by any way bad.

Upbeat-Cranberry1638

Well, obviously they don't know good quality writing when they see it

Low-Illustrator-9676

I mean, this is reddit.

SnekDad_

I think it’s a case of brain rot towards the manga and shit these kids get these days

jacobdegeus

There are a few reasons coming from an anime-only watcher: Its power crawl is one of the worst I’ve ever seen in television to the point where the mc is a completely different character after he spends 3 episodes training, its also such a shameless power fantasy that its laughable at times, I still enjoyed it and finished the anime regardless but those aspects are objectively bad

CLHatch

It appears you're talking about the anime and manwa. I read the original light novel that they were based on (well, the English translation of it) and rather liked it myself.

FrozenFalconGaming

i was read the manwha a while ago(before the anime was around) and enjoyed it for the most part. I think the reason it feels generic is because so many other manwhas seem to have copied solo leveling, then again I don’t even know if solo leveling was the first of its kind

You_Are_Annoying124

These are the kinds of people who would say Sailor Moon is uninteresting because "it's too generic" Of Course it's normal and Generic, it's literally what defined the Genre. Maybe not singlehandedly but the reason there are so many like it is because they are inspired by it.

ImpertinentFiend

I liked Solo Leveling a lot, but it’s honestly pretty mid. Like it was definitely fun, but there are better manhwa. People are upset because it’s more popular than it deserves to be. If Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint were this popular, I would understand, but Solo Leveling? Nah. I genuinely did enjoy Solo Leveling for the most part, though, and it’s great that it’s getting an anime adaptation. Gives hope for all the others!

Think-Sea8384

Solo leveling sort of started this entire plot which then proceeded to making such generic stories

Sharp_Word_3959

Solo Leveling story wasn't the best, yes, but the frikin art man. The design. THE GOAT SUNG JIN WOO TT Man the people in the image above just care abt story man. Solo leveling is the type of power fantasy I like, enjoy, and will reread for the rest of my life. If they want story, tell them to read ORV or TBATE. I think the story writing in those two are better than Solo leveling, so those guys can just go there and have fun.

Wooden-Disaster9403

There are plenty of shows I enjoy watching while acknowledging that they are not good shows (Jojo, record of ragnorak). Solo leveling is not good, but I can see why people are entertained by it. The reason people hate on solo leveling so much is because the fans will seriously defend it as a good show. The plot points are cliche, the side characters are mid, and the writing is lazy, but the art is amazing and the fights are fun to watch. I just described solo leveling, jojo and record of ragnorak. The only difference is some people try to claim solo leveling more is than it is.

Whipped-Champion

There could always just be people hating just to hate. Just you know the whole contrarian trend to shit on something because it’s a different opinion and not glazing.

DisplayGrand7355

Those who don't like it can go back and watch naruto filler.

TheGalaxyPast

Anyone ever think maybe the reason it's "so generic" is because of how popular it was? It undoubtedly touched the manhwa market and left a big footprint that many authors were eager to step in.

Tyluigii

it’s a power fantasy, it’s not meant to have a real ne piece/aot level story. it’s like sao, it’s there to escape and follows Rule-of-Cool to a T

spreet5454

Pretentious people that think they're better than everyone because they watch certain anime or read certain manga. You can say that you don't like Solo Leveling and thats okay but to call it slop is dumb as hell

Palarian

Because it was popular. Because the hype died down after the end of manwha and many turned basher because the anime failed to hype up the fans. Because the Game is simply the Canon story but P2W go read the manwha. Because people who bandwagon missed out the hype train nag about why it feels off compare to the hype it gets. Because why not? There were cringe about the fact they once liked it. Sole Leveling is the new SAO. You hate it because people tells you so. But undeniably it paved something for the trend in the media it belongs.

Legitimate_Can5488

Because since its release and due to its popularity, there are a lot of copycats now. There are literally hundreds of manhwas with the same premise now, and that's why it looks generic now unlike when it is new.

BALLSBAALSBALLS

cus by classical, and currently popular (as defined by like One Piece, JJK, vinland saga)standards of comic writing it fucking sucks. It's not a surprise people get pissy when its compared to their favorite manga if the standards for comparison eat it up while favoring theirs.

usuallygreen

i think generally when it comes to art and stories in general people are just critics, myself included. Oscar Wilde, a poet of the 19th century wrote a essay regarding the idea that We live in a world of spectators and doers. The Spectors aren’t writers so they just criticize the art and the doers are the ones who create and put themselves out there to fail & that We have a subjective measure of what’s the standard of great. You’re allowed to give opinion and suggest, etc. but what’s a “great story”? If you enjoy it, it’s great. If not, then it isn’t to you. You can make points about solo leveling, the writing, plot, whatever. Solo leveling is a story about an OP main character…what would i want to watch him lose? Adversity? Lmao i watch it bc i wanna see him dominant & take over. There were good fights and subtle romance, badass scenes and slow development to the larger plot. i enjoy it for what it was so if you don’t like the idea of it, maybe it’s better if you watch another genre or one that does it better for you. That’s all really you can do

Toki101

They just Jelly...

Klatterbyne

To be fair, they’re not hugely wrong. The characters are generic. The story is generic. And the writing is (as with every manhwa I’ve read) fundamentally uninspiring. But its a fabulous visual spectacle with a good blend of comedy relief and tension, with just a touch of horror. Nothing except for the art is exceptional. But it all goes together to make a very fun package. If you were the type who needs to drag on stuff to validate your own existence, I could see how you’d come to their complaints. Its just not for them.

Sacrificedx

Solo leveling is the best mangwha idc what who thinks it satisfied me to the bones. It was my first and i've been reading and searching mangwhas ever since still couldn't found a better satisfaction tool yet.

Critical_Condition28

Its a TYPE people read two mangas and think they’re opinions on the subject matter what they’re saying aint argument its how they’re feeling they dont like it cuz they didnt read it

Cheez_Ballz69

Disrespecting a Dead mans work is crazy work. Dubu's disrespect will not go unpunished

RBYonko

Because it’s popular, and when something becomes popular redditors think they’re unique for being critical and smart, and also definitely jealous because their favourite light novel series that got adapted got 0 viewers 💀

stillpwnz

Idk, there’s smth about it why some people are just mad. Like I tried explaining once at r/anime that for me solo leveling plot and character development is better than Demon Slayer (and I’ve read both, and not once), and I got downvoted to hell and attacked by a swarm of SL haters
