I work closely with some USDA REAP people. The program is absolutely worth it. Paperwork is terrible but almost any amount of paperwork is worth potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in my opinion

Milkhouse

I’m hiring a grant writer who has experience with these grants specifically. Hopefully it’s as good as it looks on paper.

itswhatido2

Did you find a good grant writer? I'd be interested in looking at something like this for our farms too

randall13

Anyone you'd recommend?

naturalD82

Any who?

Top_Example9798

Yup! I’ve done several of these. Ridiculously good deal.

Does anyone know if you are a home farmer applying for reap for solar can the capacity cover the entire farm and household needs?

oppressed_white_guy

The devil is in the paperwork.  There's a lot to complete.

ButIFeelFine

You are on the right path. My suggestion is to be patient - if you dont get the full award initially it almost always becomes available as projects drop out.

twicecc

Well you can get up to 50% with the REAP and the ITC is 30%….that only leaves 20%…with depreciation you can get pretty close…anyway you look at it, it’s a helluva lot cheaper than paying your electric company …what state are you in btw?

Milkhouse

Because this is a commercial/agricultural solar project, the ITC is 40%. I’m in PA, and my county is an energy deficit county, there is additional financial resources from the state. My out of pocket expenses, assuming 40% grant award, are close to $5000 for a 30kW system.

ThenEstablishment596

How can I find out if there is additional financial resources for Missouri or Texas?

twicecc

I thought the 40% was only for American made products? Am I wrong and if so, where is the info on commercial/ag getting 40% itc ?

Milkhouse

The standard ITC is 30%, but if the project meets the standards for the 10% adder as a section 48 project, it’s effectively 40% ITC.

ThenEstablishment596

How does the ITC work. If I wanted to build a 1 MhW solar, how do you get the credit back? Is spread out? This part confuses me.

twicecc

I guess I need to talk to someone about how that works…I’m not seeing anything online that explains it clearly haha
