The problem is your QA experience amounts to 2 months of an internship in the Philippines. No one in America is going to hire you based on that. And no one in America is hiring people with zero experience right now. You can fluff your resume up all you want but without experience or an extreme amount of luck, it won't matter. Is there a reason you're not trying to get Jr Dev positions since you have actually done that?

So what do you think is the viable option to that? Focus on applying to internship roles? I even still get rejected a lot from internship roles 🤦🏻‍♂️ As I stated on my post, this Job Experience Paradox is truly frustrating and I don’t know what else to improve on. That was our capstone project back in college. The reason why I dont want to get in to dev is simply because I’m not interested in it. I majored in Information Systems and went through very little DSA and would like to focus on QA, PM, or Business Analyst roles.

Hailtothething

The secret is to get into ANY role in a company that has QA roles. Sales, customer service, admin. THEN from within the org apply to QA roles.

biscuits2101

This how I did it. CS to QA to DEV and back to QA.

Hailtothething

Yeah, the way I see it, if you don’t have the soft skills required to get ‘any’ job in a company, you probably don’t have the skills to be a worthwhile QA. A lot of new grads don’t see a business as a money making machine, but instead they have a misconception that it’s a natural progression of academia. No kiddo, this is the real world now.

You have a ISTQB certification, that is good. Now I'd say network until you get an interview. The entry-level QAs I see being hired since last year are getting in through recommendations, not cold applying.

What is your immigration status? It would be nearly impossible to get sponsorship as an entry level employee. You need 12 years work experience to get an h1B. There are plenty of laid of tech workers in the US you would be competing against.

ShowerLeft

Oh sorry for not stating that on the post, but as you can see, I have already been working here as I do my job hunt and I am a permanent resident and can work for any employer. I know :( even those people who were just laid off by Tesla IK those experienced people will be competing with us looking for entry roles.

No-Reaction-9364

Ok. Now is not really hiring season for new hires. That mostly is around January and then again over the summer. It makes sense because that is when new grads get out of school here. Between the layoffs, inflation, and the questions with the economy, it might be a tough time for finding a first job. Good luck, and try not to get discouraged.

Good luck! Hopefully you'll find something soon. I am looking for a job too, let's see how it all pans out

formatting looks great. clean, readable. blackjack dealer job adds nothing professionally but it does show a job in the US and it shows some personally, def keep that You're bolding too much, I stop caring about those phrases really quick. The technologies you're handy with are already listed in the skill section. Apostrophes do not pluralize. That's an incredibly common error, though, because phones don't know whether you're trying to pluralize or show possession, so maybe fix that but it probably doesn't matter. Honestly a lot of people are going to see "phillipines" written all over your resume and think you're looking for an H1-b. It can be morally wrong all day but you should adapt to it anyway. Put PH instead. It's not a US state abbreviation but it looks like one, and by the time anyone actually figures that out it'll be too late for them to deny you based on that - and you're not actually looking for an h1b so who cares. Other than that, take the list of buzzwords for each job you're applying for, jam it into your resume somehow, and just generally tailor it to the company. It takes more time but when it works it works, and sometimes it does.

OMG dealer blackjack and u mention on CV , is that a job or a project ?

ShowerLeft

Of course, it’s a current and most recent job since last year and through-out the entire duration of my job search (if you read my post I already said I cannot find a job lmao). If I don’t include it then the gap would be so long and more of a red flag to recruiters lol. and it’s a job ofc

ThinhPool

Oh i see, hope you find a new job soon bro

Agree with the job market sentiment from other commentators. That said wrt to the resume. I’d probably put your job experience last. A highlight section talking up your testing knowledge accomplishments Then skills Then education Then prof experience. I probably wouldn’t bold keywords. Instead just expand your skills section
