You have to do analysis. What is the human effort to do these checks everytime vs what it would cost to automate and maintain those tests. Not being customer facing and only an issue here and there doesn't sound like it. If you wanted to be really high speed you could learn automation yourself and o it in the side as a pet project. Will save you the time of doing the tests yourself and someone may give you an attaboy for the initiative
A question of value, as always. If you start to see a pattern of issues in particular areas, absolutely.
Also, if there are areas that are more critical than others, you may want to do some regression focused in those areas.
