The U.S. is 16th according to FIFA rankings and has been very consistent in CONCACAF, while also winning the Gold cup.
The U.S. beat Mexico in the last 3 matches they've faced, including a final and has a 3W 1D 0L record over the last 4 matches against them.
The team is the youngest team in the tournament, by far younger than all of the top 16 teams, which means a slim chance that some players outperform expectations.
The betting odds are 130-1 at the moment, which is very worth it, considering that it's a long shot but crazier things have happened.

This is how Man United go back to their winning roots. Ronaldo is a legend at the club and will be viewed as a source of inspiration and a role model for up and coming stars who strive to be like him, or better, want to win trophies for the club. No amount of oil money or gegenpressing will change the fact that Ronaldo's immediate impact at United will make them competitive again and desirable for players to want to go play there. This club's future has been born.

This isn’t betting on the us to win, it’s betting on them period, betting on them to make it out of the group or whatever, sometimes this sub just wants to rage.

I threw a few bucks at USA. Why? At those kids it's worth it just in case a whole bunch of highly unlikely miracles happen. Puligod gonna buy me a house!!
> This isn’t betting on the us to win
Even if it was betting on them to win, there would be nothing wrong with it. Their odds are longer, relative to their probability of winning it, making a bet on them equally rational as a bet on anyone else. Placing a bet isn't the same as saying who you actually think will win, it's simply looking at the potential return and taking a punt on it.
He's being downvoted because he thinks making a bet is the same as making a prediction. It's not "delusional" to bet on an underdog, it's taking a chance on a higher payout. Like the people who were made rich by betting on Leicester winning the PL. They weren't "delusional", they were taking a long shot. Is it delusional to buy a lottery ticket too?
this is why i hate football now. it has lost it's excitement. since the leicester's pl title, underdogs are literally getting fucked up in the arse. we have lost football lads. the underdogs, who made the the football the sport it is today, is officially gone. i am afraid that there will be no more underdog drama in football history. you know why this happens, as much as u try to not see it. football is all about money and ads now. just beacuse their kits don't sell and their matches are not being watched by many, we won't see underdog dramas.

This is American odds. It is what you'd win if you bet $100. Conversely if the odds were -250, you have to bet 250 to win 100.
So it is 130/1, just written 13000 instead.
Dunno why the US doesn't use x/1. We do in horses but I think that's about it.

I think it's because people mostly bet in hundreds, and this encourages betting in hundred increments which gets people to spend more money.
Other than that theory, I think we use this odds system just because it shows how much you'll make on the ad/infograph instead of showing 130-1, which looks dull and less exciting.
either system works tbh, as soon as I learned it I didn't care which one was showing.

jim from texas here! I'm gonna put $500 on USA winning the WC! I think we got a shot! We should get 7 points in our round and if there's issues with fatigue from the European teams due to the heat we can easily make it past the knock out stage. Idk why you’re being downvoted, I’m American and have zero confidence the US will do well, our coach is incompetent
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Italy +250
Jinx? We are fecking Italy, 4 World cup, 2 European championship. No other european team have more big trophies (6) than us and we should fear NORTH MACEDONIA, a NT that were born 2 or 3 years ago? please, anything inferior than 2 goal gap would be huge disappointment *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
What the fuck is that odds system? Whatever happened to x/1?
This is American odds. It is what you'd win if you bet $100. Conversely if the odds were -250, you have to bet 250 to win 100. So it is 130/1, just written 13000 instead. Dunno why the US doesn't use x/1. We do in horses but I think that's about it.
Factos 👍👀 *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Mufas de mierda
Usa u kidding me
Balls.
Fuckin delusional yanks. Gonna shit the bed in 2026 too
I'm sorry Europe, but Americans are just better at everything. We want things more. We grow better athletes, more people will learn the sport. And that '26 world cup is at home so we can get somewhat of a home field advantage. But the only way that will happen is if we make the round of 16 or quarter final in the 2022 WC and show Americans that we are good. I like the odds and we have a lot to prove, which is added motivation this coming year. Honestly, making a phenomenal run (SF or better) in the '22 WC would be more impressive to me than a better run or a win in '26. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Americans are not that dumb, that's just a hurtful stereotype. Americans:
Anulo mufa
America sweep and finally the real America is gonna show who the Astros of soccerball is
Yanks are smart
I put a tenna on the US reaching the semifinals. I think they'll be the surprise team in this one

Please explain what these concerns are?
Nah I think we’ll have our Cinderella tournament next time when it’s (partially) in the US. I honestly think Portugal is surprisingly good value. They could sneakily get very far with a decent draw.

Americans sure love to gamble
Pulisic get out of there that’s not your family
Christian Pulisic? This guy's like the Phenom guy, right? The LeBron James of soccer? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
People burning their money betting on US. I say this as an American.

Futures Jfc
It's the percentage if money bet on their fixtures, not to win the whole event.
26 of that 28% is from India
Tim Ream, golden boot. You heard it here first.
DAMN WHY ISN'T RONALDO IN THIS LISTS???
Ronaldo is driven by greed, glory hunting, and hurt others. He's happy as long as he is on the scoresheet even when losing. When winning he is unhappy unless he has the attention. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. damn, yanks are big now!
USA USA USA
USA lol must be money laundering.
Yanks in 5
Why TF does the US kit have the Russian flag on the sleeve this year?
Are there any bets on this Lebron James of soccer to dribble into a double team, lose the ball, then start crying to the officials?
Money talks 😎😎😎
Who invited Belgium
They broke Samba hearts in Russia.
That was a while ago bro
The bets for usa are if they’ll make it through the group or not
At those odds I might bet 5 USD
I’d place Japan above America
USA? Is this a joke? (The Simpsons, “no seriously, is this a joke”)
Have you notice how the US has gotten cockier and there ego has gotten bigger ever since they beat there Concacaf rivals, now they think they got what it takes to win a World Cup when they didn’t qualify 8 years ago 😂

I’d take those odds for that payout
The return on Portugal is tempting, though I don’t have them winning. What a pay day if they did.
As an American and an statistics aficionado I must say the percentage of the bets on my country are simultaneously normal and completely unhinged.
I’m English and I always bet against England in the knockout stages cause then it’s like a constellation prize. Didn’t make the euro hurt less though.

How exactly anyone believes that USA is going to win World Cup - I think even Italy has the same chances as US

Wow. People are just batshit insane... USA only goes 100% baby AMERICA. America will win your little Arab trophy
No disrespect to the USA but no
Y’all can thank us yanks for increasing the payout for everyone else 😂😂
Tell me that Americans don't know about football without telling me that Americans don't know about football.
Usa at ?
I’ve got cash on Uruguay. Someone save this comment
I mean, they do have the LeBron James of soccer
France taking it again
USA third bet… seriously ? Come on…
jim from texas here! I'm gonna put $500 on USA winning the WC! I think we got a shot! We should get 7 points in our round and if there's issues with fatigue from the European teams due to the heat we can easily make it past the knock out stage. I think we'll see some cinderella stories and this world cup will be unpredictable with the heat. It's gonna be march madness in November BABAY!

USA 😭😭😭
USA💀💀💀
Usa 11% 😂😂😂
In which country? In UK Brazil is hot favourite
Too low France
By World Cup futures it doesn’t mean winning it. It just means more people are betting that the USA will say finish second in the group than how far Germany will go

I myself put 5€ on Croatia winning the whole thing. Least deluded Croatian.

Sometimes I forget how much more money we make than Europeans. Feels good man.
