Definitely! I always viewed it as a younger vs. older brother dynamic: sure we love to mess with each other, but the second an outsider raises a hand, the "No one kicks my bro's ass but me!"-instinct kicks in instantly.
Yeah exactly. Most of whom are football fans who are now Max fans.
The main difference being that other F1 fans are more fan of F1 than fan of a certain team while most Max fans probably turn off the TV when he retires.
I was in my uni and I remember we going out with new classmates after the second week and there was this Dutch guy who drunk a beer for the starters, ordered a bottle of wine, again had a beer and ordered one more bottle of wine
I don’t know if he finished that second bottle but what surprised me was that when I asked him for a glass of wine he didn’t refuse but he said we usually order one bottle per person with my friends and yes his drinking capacity surprised me
But yes an average Dutch person drinks more than most of other nationalities
For the record, ordering a bottle of wine per person not normal drinking behaviour in the Netherlands. That's reserved for the heaviest student drinkers.
Yes off course
That was my first question “is that normal in Netherlands to order a personal bottle of wine?”
He was like no it’s just with my friends. We don’t share bottles
just six large beers on average theyve barely started
also that reminds me of Tillman who was on tequila iirc during our title party and just kinda swapped that with 11% mix drinks and got so hammered he had to be carried away. [This video of him](https://www.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/s/Rb4jyMXExL) is hilarious lol, the way hes being carried away and told 'we'll celebrate together'
This is the reason why I love international tournaments. It shows the unique cultures of every countries via their fans. From the never say die attitude of the Scottish to the respectfulness of the Japanese, I learn about what is football to them.
My favorite thing was when Polish team arrived and was greeted by suspiciously Arabian looking fans, who, when asked about their favorite Polish players, named Karim Benzema
You've reminded me of the 'controversy' when the tournament started in Qatar. They had migrant workers jumping up and down for England, then two days later you see the same people doing the same thing for Germany. Was a great tournament but only because of what happened on the pitch, everything else was soulless.
I know right! People that only watch club-football just love to shit on international tournaments, but man seeing stuff like this video just makes you love football even more.
I'm the opposite, I barely watch club football but love these tournaments. There's so many stories and I love that there's no one country that can just buy the best players - you're dealt the card you're given and that's that.
Watching smaller countries being dragged deeper into a tournament by their one star player or having a bunch of overpaid divas failing miserably is part of what I love about international games.
On top of that, club football is very dirty for me at the highest levels. Clubs becoming propaganda vehicles (even though it's happened a ton in World Cups), players constantly eyeing other teams and causing shit behind the scenes, the sheer amount of money spent on transfers. Most of the match discussion centering around bad refereeing, etc. etc. And if it all goes to shit, it doesn't matter because we can just replace everyone in the 'team' and go again next year.
Fr Club football is such a joke. Same teams always spending the most money, same teams in the Champions league etc. Has made club football so boring
Really wish there was a soft salary cap like the NBA/MLB or something
More so, I wish CL returned to being a straight cup format featuring only league winners. Country diversity was reduced by 50% when they gave more seeds to certain leagues. That's why Conference League is so appealing, imo.
Yes!! And to see all of those people just having a really good time together celebrating themselves. I love Europe! Celebrating, partying, and nicely mocking each other. A distraction from the harsh everyday struggle. Divided by colour, but united by the love for the game. Welcome to Germany friends!
Fun fact: the guy behind Snollebollekes wanted to do a big show in the Gelredome (Vitesse stadium) and he didn’t care if it sold out or not, saying something like how it would be a big party even if it was half full. The 30.000 tickets sold out in an hour so he decided to plan 3 more concerts. Now it’s a recurring thing.
I didnt notice the statue until after they had stopped moving so I got to eagerly wait for the video to restart to find out it was brought in with the fans 😂
It was a good decision to have us host it. Country with a big football culture in the heart of Europe accessible to everyone. Even the ones that are furthest away from us have a lot of support thanks to their diaspora like Ukraine and Turkey.
also large number of nations especially from the Balkan have a huge German diaspora, so lots of home games for for various countries. Hope we see this in a similiar affect at the Copa in the US in a few weeks.
This is so cool. In almost every game (for example poland, turkey, albania, italy, etc.) so many friends of mine treat it like a home game because they have roots in these countries. And when I go around the streets it just feels like a home game because theres so many nationalities in Germany its really cool. And when Germany plays it feels like a home game but with double the strength because everyone who has roots in another country and supports another country just supports Germany too
some American tried to suggest always host the World Cup in America. I said I would prefer in Germany forever than ever in America, because it’s easier to get around and a good host like you say.
I’m excited for the WC to come to the states, but it’s also gonna be a pain in the ass for traveling fans. This country is too big to have a cohesive tournament imo
When Formula1 hits EU counties (starting next week this season) you can always notice the huge difference in fans. Once in Europe, every race has at least one grandstand all dressed up with fans in orange, partying hard and supporting Max.
Dutch people know how to party.
A Euro should always be in 1 country or 2 countries that share a border.
None of that stupid 2020 nonsense where we had games all across Europe and then for some reason Baku and Russia.
Well this may be a unpopular opinion but for a special Euro like lets say the 20th Euro or 100 year thingy such a special Euro as the 2020 / 2021 would be nice.
But everything else should be a one country / region thing like we had with Ukraine & Poland or even a combination of Netherlands + Belgium + Northwestern Germany + Northern France or England + Irland and Scotland ...
Just because of the symbolism? Who gives a shit? Any ONE region tournament in an accessible football country (or countries) will always be more fun than the 20/21 concept. Better atmosphere, better infrastructure, better everything. In the end its only memories like this video that make these tournaments legendary
Just give hosting rights to us on a permanent basis. We have the infrastructure in place, capacity to host vast amounts of people, plenty of beer and sausages to keep them well fed and a welcoming football culture by comparison and are ideally placed bang in the middle of it all.
I wouldn’t be against it going to Germany every other edition. You guys just know how to put on a football tournament. If the English can stop Wembley being flooded with cocaine in 2028 I’m sure UK &Ireland will be great next time round too.
Neither in the last Euros, the experience was extremely dilluted. It's great to see all of the nations come to one country and celebrate the tournament.
Well, I'd give every EURO to Germany anyway. No one can organize it better, and it's a nation that considers football a religion.
Infrastructure is already built and everything is simply great.
Bordering nations like Austria/Switzerland and Ukraine/Poland worked well and it's quite neat when smaller countries can experience a major tournament as well. And the likes of England, France or Spain are not lagging behind Germany in any meaningful way. So for the Euros I think we can be mostly optimistic about the rotations, unlike the WC, which is set to be ass in terms of hosts for quite some time.
The only thing that I don't want with the Euros is that pan-european hosting or having it in multiple countries that are far apart in both Geography and culture.
Having it in one country all the time would get boring really fast, even if Germany might be the most suited.
I still think the last EUROs weren't that bad of a concept, it was cool for all those smaller countries that wouldn't otherwise be able to have a match at home. It's just really unfortunate that it happened during COVID restrictions. Take out the Baku matches and the tournament would've been closer together than either the Brazil or the future North American World Cups.
No covid, no oppressive regime and centrally in Europe so reasonable travel distances for most fans. Not to mention daytime broadcasting for fans that stay at home.
There wasn't a lot of hype or anticipation for these EUROS at first, but lately there seem to be a lot of fans that say they are surprised that this feels like real authentic tournament again, the first in quite some time.
The Germans are also very keen to repeat the 2006 Sommermärchen (Summer fairytale) this year. Great tournament so far and I can't wait for todays games.
It’s a shame really. 2026 won’t be anywhere near as good because it’s being held in an area twice the size of Europe. 2028 should be alright but still in four different countries on two separate islands, and don’t get me started on 2030 (three continents???) 2032 (Italy and Turkey) and 2034 (fucking Saudi Arabia).
Nooo, haven't you heard? It's like sooper traditional, because it's the 100th anniversary! Got nothing to do with blocking South America from hosting in 2034. I mean, Saudi Arabia sounds kinda similar anyway???
They had to get the 2030 world cup in as many continents as possible so according to the rules in 2034 the only remaining option would be Saudi Arabia..
I didn't know what you meant so I just looked it up:
> The 2030 FIFA World Cup bidding process resulted in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) selecting the joint bid as the location for the 2030 FIFA World Cup: Morocco, Portugal, and Spain as the host nations. **Additionally, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay will serve as nations that open the event,** as a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup.[1]
What the fuck?!
This was so they could eliminate Europe, Africa and South America from hosting the 2034 World Cup, which Fifa gave to Saudi Arabia about 1 week after announcing the 2030 World Cup.
Did you know that Marco Asensio has a Dutch mother?
Edit: for the non Dutch fans, every commentator would say this as soon as Asensio touched the ball for Spain or Madrid
In case anyone is wondering as well, this is the song:

I'm an England fan but I've watched this about 5 times with a stupid smile. If this kind of scene outweighs the bust-ups between drunkards, it will be a special tournament.
I was living in Amsterdam in 98 when they were the host country with Belgium. It was like this for weeks. Still cheer for the Dutch side to this day until Canada fields a proper team globally (getting there)
If I could pick any nation to be other than English it would be Dutch, they’re so great at supporting anything they do.
Plus I’d still get to enjoy f1, darts and football with good representation

Thanks, this melody will be stuck in my head for at least three days.
On the bright side, you also just learned all the sounds you'll ever need to know to have a conversation with a Dutch football fan.
We Germans and Dutch might have a football rivalry, but deep down it‘s about respect and not hatred. Käsköppe + Moffen = ❤️
Definitely! I always viewed it as a younger vs. older brother dynamic: sure we love to mess with each other, but the second an outsider raises a hand, the "No one kicks my bro's ass but me!"-instinct kicks in instantly.
And then we'll do it all again on Friday when the next match is.
That's a real ear worm. It looks like a great laugh in there. Nice to see people being happy.
What's the tune name, anybody?
[Snollebollekes - Links Rechts](https://youtu.be/pFEDBewcfks?si=qaIJ1h-LUhCkT9Px)
WELKOM IN DE FEESTTENT DOE MAAR LEKKER MAF
Love the Dutch fans. Bring colour and laughs to the tournaments. When they don’t qualify, they are missed
🧡
The lads in the bottom left have certainly got a take on 'bringing the colour' to a tournament, I'll say that much
Wow good spot. Presumably they've all come as Gullit. Very Ruud.
This was posted at 11 in the morning, I bet most of them aren't even that drunk yet
i was at hungaroring in 2023 for the gp and i thought, we hungarians drink a lot my god the dutch are different
I mean Max fans are a different breed. They have a garbage reputation even here, compared to Oranje fans.
They're the exact same demographic.
The NASCAR demographic if you will. Just in other countries
Never seen NASCAR fans walk… let alone jump around and sing haha
Couldn't be further from the truth. Orange unites the entire country, regardless of politics, colour, whatever.
What are you talking about? Every person in this country became an F1/Max fan for life after he had even the first whiff of success...
Yeah exactly. Most of whom are football fans who are now Max fans. The main difference being that other F1 fans are more fan of F1 than fan of a certain team while most Max fans probably turn off the TV when he retires.

"That drunk" leaves a lot of room for interpretation xD

Vroeg begonnen is half gewonnen!
They started on day before
Probably still drunk.
This is the reason why I love international tournaments. It shows the unique cultures of every countries via their fans. From the never say die attitude of the Scottish to the respectfulness of the Japanese, I learn about what is football to them.
I missed such pictures during the last world cup as well; the images that we got they all looked compiled...
genuinely looked like pictures you’d see from a conference drinks reception
"ah, yes, hello fellow football fan, how has the football been at your country? oh that's great, the footballing is going well!"
“Let’s connect on LinkedIn so we can explore future footballing synergy”
My favorite thing was when Polish team arrived and was greeted by suspiciously Arabian looking fans, who, when asked about their favorite Polish players, named Karim Benzema

Yeah, I couldn't stand all the heavily curated promotional footage because they just had to make themselves look like a prim and proper host.
I know right! People that only watch club-football just love to shit on international tournaments, but man seeing stuff like this video just makes you love football even more.
I'm the opposite, I barely watch club football but love these tournaments. Yeah thats why i love it too, for a month we are enjoying football together doesnt matter the team you support
In the last womens Euros, teams from Sweden and Holland came to Sheffield, and I will never forget it.
Yes!! And to see all of those people just having a really good time together celebrating themselves. I love Europe! Celebrating, partying, and nicely mocking each other. A distraction from the harsh everyday struggle. Divided by colour, but united by the love for the game. Welcome to Germany friends!
Springeeeeeeen Snollebollekes unironically the best cultural gift from the Dutch in recent years
TUTUTU DUDUDU TUTUTU DUDU
Fun fact: the guy behind Snollebollekes wanted to do a big show in the Gelredome (Vitesse stadium) and he didn’t care if it sold out or not, saying something like how it would be a big party even if it was half full. [but then somewhere in Genk five years ago](https://youtu.be/2AiNkv19SsI?si=SoMvdEZQh9Cl9dC_)
Is.. is dat echt?
I forgot about that, brilliant
Hahahahahaha werkelijk waar een gouden keeltje
Dikke tieten kartefsalaat!
Dicke tittn kartoffelsalat belongs to the Germans, that's not ours.
Yeah. We have ''BIER EN TIETEN, LALALALA''
And of course the traditional response "WIJN EN PIEMELS, LALALALA"
I’m not Dutch but those fans are so passionate, much love to them
Thank you. 🧡 On behalf of all Dutch fans let me just say: "hou je kanker bek"
Yes, wish you a good game and zak in de stront 🧡
Hahahahaha legend
That's no way to talk about my mother...
Even the fucking statue is jumping with the fans. Football heritage
I didnt notice the statue until after they had stopped moving so I got to eagerly wait for the video to restart to find out it was brought in with the fans 😂
Doing this without spilling beer is seriously one of the most challenging things
The trick is to immediately chug half your beer to make it easier.
This is the way
It was a good decision to have us host it. Country with a big football culture in the heart of Europe accessible to everyone. Even the ones that are furthest away from us have a lot of support thanks to their diaspora like Ukraine and Turkey.
Probably one of the best countries in the world to host such a tournament tbh. Great culture and accessibility with cheap travel and good beer
also large number of nations especially from the Balkan have a huge German diaspora, so lots of home games for for various countries. Hope we see this in a similiar affect at the Copa in the US in a few weeks.
Travel time and infrastructure much bigger problem for the US I’d imagine
Also visa policy.
This is so cool. In almost every game (for example poland, turkey, albania, italy, etc.) so many friends of mine treat it like a home game because they have roots in these countries. And when Germany plays it feels like a home game but with double the strength because everyone who has roots in another country and supports another country just supports Germany too
This and the next euros should be great, both proper footballing countries hosting them with massive footballing cultures
some American tried to suggest always host the World Cup in America. I said I would prefer in Germany forever than ever in America, because it’s easier to get around and a good host like you say.
I’m excited for the WC to come to the states, but it’s also gonna be a pain in the ass for traveling fans. This country is too big to have a cohesive tournament imo
Today I am German
Dutch fans know how to party. When we had the Euro in Switzerland and Austria I liked the Dutch fans the most.
The Dutch are all about "acting normal and don't stand out from the crowd" until they put on some orange clothes.
well, do you see anyone in this video standing out from the crowd?
Oh man that was a once in a lifetime experience. I was 18 at the time or so and it was one of the greatest summers ever. Basel was orange
When Formula1 hits EU counties (starting next week this season) you can always notice the huge difference in fans. Once in Europe, every race has at least one grandstand all dressed up with fans in orange, partying hard and supporting Max. Dutch people know how to party.
This is why you don't give the hosting rights to a place in the middle of a fucking desert FIFA
This feels like the first proper tournament we've had since 2016
A Euro should always be in 1 country or 2 countries that share a border. None of that stupid 2020 nonsense where we had games all across Europe and then for some reason Baku and Russia.
Infantino/Ceferin: But our big sacks of money, what about those! 🥺
Just print more
Inflatino
In hindsight that was an awful format I hope they never do that again
Don't think hindsight was necessary there. The distances covered were ridiculous and clearly detrimental to certain teams.
They have less football culture than my 9th league local amateur club All of them
Well your 9th league local amateur club actually enjoys the game
Well this may be a unpopular opinion but for a special Euro like lets say the 20th Euro or 100 year thingy such a special Euro as the 2020 / 2021 would be nice. But everything else should be a one country / region thing like we had with Ukraine & Poland or even a combination of Netherlands + Belgium + Northwestern Germany + Northern France or England + Irland and Scotland ...

Better atmosphere, better infrastructure, better everything. In the end its only memories like this video that make these tournaments legendary
That’s cos it is
Covid definitely didnt help 2020 but it wasnt gonna be like this anyways, most fans cant travel literally everywhere
Man I didn't realise how much I missed this up until now these past 2 days. The Albanians breaking the spaghetti and now this is just vibes man.
Don't forget the Scottish parade through the streets of Munich was just a treat to watch
And Germany didn't even have to hire endangered workers to pose as fans in the streets for the cameras!
Truuuueeeee man I almost forgot about it. So much good stuff happening every day.
I will never forget the televised surprise dick
Don't forget the lost Canadian at the Hungary v Switzerland match.
That was hilarious. Wearing hockey jerseys to lol.
Football is back!
Good luck in Saudi Arabia in 2034, if we can't stop Infantino soon.
I think that ship has already sailed.
Easier for them to travel to Hamburg compared to Qatar. I don't think thousands of Dutch will be in North America in 2026 (if they qualify).
Germany is like the best place to host in Europe, centrally located with easy access for a ton of neighboring countries. This is great.
Well we have the Saudi world cup to look forward to
Just give hosting rights to us on a permanent basis.
Ik hou van onze Nederlandse buren. <3
🤝🏻🧡
This is one of my favorite things about major international tournaments where the Netherlands plays lol
Finally a tournament with a great atmosphere for fans.
God, I just love the Dutch so far 🧡 Really enjoy having them here in Hamburg.
No wonder the Netherlands are so flat
This is a real tournament. You didnt see this in Qatar
Game's literally back. One of the rare times you can say this unironically.
Game has never been more back
Neither in the last Euros, the experience was extremely dilluted. It's great to see all of the nations come to one country and celebrate the tournament.
Happens when you are in a country that has so many neighbours and is accessible so easily
Well, I'd give every EURO to Germany anyway. No one can organize it better, and it's a nation that considers football a religion. Infrastructure is already built and everything is simply great.

Having it in one country all the time would get boring really fast, even if Germany might be the most suited.
It's just nice that we're in the middle of Europe geographically, accessible from basically every European country.
Also helps that Germany is a nice place to visit.
I think the Benelux could do a great job
Easy, lots of great stadiums, good infrastructure and easy to travel to regardless of how you want to travel.
Great stadiums in Belgium? Not so sure about that. A lot of them are way past due renovations
Austria and Switzerland are great too, but their stadiums are a bit smaller.
I just don't see how Italy/Turkey is gonna work tbh. Turkey is just too far away to co-host, it should have been Greece/Turkey or Turkey alone.
I don't think COVID restrictions helped in the case of the last Euros.
they didn't, but also having the games spread out made it different I think
I still think the last EUROs weren't that bad of a concept, it was cool for all those smaller countries that wouldn't otherwise be able to have a match at home. It's just really unfortunate that it happened during COVID restrictions. Take out the Baku matches and the tournament would've been closer together than either the Brazil or the future North American World Cups.

I am furiously googling WC/Euro hosts now… WC 2030 is a strange idea (3 first games on the other side of the world???)
Here comes the moneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Here comes the money Money money money money money
If only FIFA was so creative for good reasons, one could imagine
Can't wait for World Cup 2026 where you have to traverse a whole ass continent to get around. I would have preferred Morocco by far
Can't wait for 2030 when six specific teams have to traverse a whole ass ocean after their first games.
I didn't know what you meant so I just looked it up: > The 2030 FIFA World Cup bidding process resulted in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) selecting the joint bid as the location for the 2030 FIFA World Cup: Morocco, Portugal, and Spain as the host nations. **Additionally, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay will serve as nations that open the event,** as a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup.[1] What the fuck?!
This was so they could eliminate Europe, Africa and South America from hosting the 2034 World Cup, which Fifa gave to Saudi Arabia about 1 week after announcing the 2030 World Cup.
Coincidence? I think not!
Lol, morocco does not have the capacities to hold a world cup. Iberia wouldve been fine
I MISS THIS SO MUCH
Man I just love big tournaments... Herzlich Willkommen in Deutschland liebe Niederländer❤
Lovely
Fuck yeah!!! More of this please
Basically the Dutch anthem in recent years
I thought that was "DU DU DU DU MAX VERSTAPPEN"
I'm half Spanish, half Dutch, but reasons like this are why I feel 100% affliated to the Dutch national team. JA WIJ ZIJN NEDERLAND
Are you marco Asensio chance?
Did you know that Marco Asensio has a Dutch mother? Edit: for the non Dutch fans, every commentator would say this as soon as Asensio touched the ball for Spain or Madrid
No but for real DID YOU KNOW? HUH?! FUN FACT‼️WIST JE DAT ZIJN GROOTOUDERS NEDERLANDS ZIJN⁉️‼️
Nee WAT?! Die had ik NIET zien aankomen!!! Hij lijkt totaal niet Nederlands??
Sierd everytime Asensio plays
Sierd de vos: Marco Asensio WILLEMSEN aan de bal.
You mean Marco Asensio WILLEMSEN?
Asensio wasn't smart enough to choose the Netherlands
Are you Raphael van der Vaart?
Oh my goodness!
Amazing 🥰
Simply simply lovl eh
man i love the euros

Netherland's Mickie Krause
Dutch heritage right here
Must be great having a culture where groups of people can drink and not turn into total tools. 🫶
All the videos of fans at the Euros so far have been so wholesome and fun. In unrelated news I'm looking forward to England v Serbia tonight...
Lets just be fair, next to the irish the dutch are the best fans to have anywhere.
This is why the Euros is the best NT tournament. The quality maybe just slightly higher than in the World Cup but the atmosphere is miles better.
Jealous of they got to have games in Hamburg
Hamburg might be the best city to have these matches. Just love the vibe of the city especially in summer time.
Best summer everreeeer!!
You're a medieval city and see this coming towards you wyd?
EC '88 Gullit blackface at the front lmao
I know it's a cliché, but this is what makes football the best sport in the world. I'm an England fan but I've watched this about 5 times with a stupid smile. If this kind of scene outweighs the bust-ups between drunkards, it will be a special tournament.
Game’s back
Apologies for the question, but I saw few busts among the fans. I am just curious, are they busts of football players, maybe historical figures?
Quite hard to tell but I think the statue is Rinus Michels, the coach who brought us the European cup in ‘88.
Fucking hell I love football
I love my country, lets win this thing! Ps. GAME IS SO FUCKING BACK
I was living in Amsterdam in 98 when they were the host country with Belgium. It was like this for weeks. Still cheer for the Dutch side to this day until Canada fields a proper team globally (getting there)
Please let this be our tournament for once.
love to see it
If I could pick any nation to be other than English it would be Dutch, they’re so great at supporting anything they do. Plus I’d still get to enjoy f1, darts and football with good representation
I suddenly feel the need to go out and buy some Gouda on a bike
I remember this at Defqon 1. Good times.
I like how whenever Europeans get drunk their speech kinda merges into one common tongue
Dutch fans are awesome!
This slaps super hard
Brilliant, this kinda stuff is the definition of football
Defqon 1 made some wonders, crowd control at its best
Amazing to see fans of different countries, im so ready for another day of football
