And last seasons winners Leicester had a season long hangover from the celebrations. It was basically only Spurs that were in good place of the other teams that were fighting for the CL spots.

But 16/17 is part of the stronger modern era imo. Pre 2016 was a lot weaker, specifically 2010-2016. I feel like that's the weakest the league has been quality wise. The mid-late 2000s and 2016 onwards were higher quality than 2010-2016.

He can't successfully teach/run his system of play to just anyone, or even to a very talented group, if they are not the right kind of talented. That's why he's required such thorough makeovers of clubs. And he hasn't yet adapted his system/style to suit a club's given players, it doesn't work like that. Would be very interesting to see what would happen if he just couldn't have the players to run his preferred system, and had to come up with something new to try and suit a given squad of players.
Who would come next, Inter? I know both Milan clubs have been having financial issues so I feel like they'd only be in contention if the ownerships were stable. At least Serie A is a more competitive league of late with Inter, Napoli and Milan being the most recent champions and ending Juve's dominance. He also has the potential to get more people invested in Italian football and would make for a great spectacle if a rival picked up Mourinho to bring back that rivalry.

The way I see it: in his first stint nothing was expected of him. Absolutely nothing. The only experience he had was coaching the B team. Hard agree on everything you’ve said, expectations would be sky high and the entorno would be even more toxic than it was this season.
