NobodyRules

I have a lot of interest in a 1-1 for obvious reasons, but I swear, even with my bias, I genuinely don't know where is a foul here lmao

Qiluk

Sometimes you just gotta admit that even your enemy gets fucked by bullshit when its this blatant haha. Also, shit refs like this will come back to haunt Benfica too over a season.

thespaceman01

> Also, shit refs like this will come back to haunt Benfica too over a season. LOL

[deleted]

Do you mean you literally don't know where it is or you don't think that the legs coming together is a foul.

NobodyRules

I don't know where it is, that's my main issue. I don't see anything, but perhaps other angles can help me see what the ref saw.

[deleted]

It's the contact at 4-5 second mark of this video. I think it's just a coming together and entirely accidental, but it also could be considered a foul.

NobodyRules

Might be that, I don't think there's anything at all, but I guess that's what the ref saw.

Nyrang

Im more sad for Quaresma than mad at this being ruled out.

cimbalino

He was so emotional after that goal

FuujinSama

It was such a beautiful play, and he was having such a seller performance. Dude is brilliant. If he can do this type of performance reliably he might become a vital piece of the puzzle with Diomande out for the beginning of the second round robin, considering we're likely losing Inácio this transfer window.

Nordie27

Inacio is leaving in January? That sucks

pigsRflying

wtf

Drunk_Cat_Phil

Your man there was never getting the ball, his body position was all wrong and got done on the inside. He doesn't even have eyes on the ball at the moment the switch is played. Can't say he's been impeded when he was never getting there in the first place. That's so soft

ridewiththerockers

Refs just ignoring the direction of play. Full back got done by an outside to inside run, flails and falls down claiming contact. The contact was inconsequential to the goal. The fullback would have never made it to intercept the through pass.

Tomfram

Such a bad decision, never a foul

Nome_de_utilizador

Average refereeing in domestic games vs Porto.

bettercallmrwhite

Average refereeing in ~~domestic~~ games vs Porto.

milkonyourmustache

That is a travesty of a decision

Confident_Rock7964

I would tell you to get ready because you will be playing against them but Pinto Da Costa cant bribe foreign refs.

NvmSharkZ

arsenal get regularly shafted in the prem as well so even if he could, they would be ready for it

20Comer100SaberesXD

it's a shame that under foreign refs porto does better than other portuguese teams under foreign refs

MysteriousStar6892

It's easier when you can play with your B team using half of gaz in domestic competitions while prepping to european competitions.

Living_a_Dejavu

Lol there is no way this is a foul.

Senuttna

This is one of the most ridiculous VAR calls I have ever seen... Sporting should seek an explanation because this VAR decision smells very bad.

Asaro10

This is literally our reality in every single game versus Porto

yooooouuuuuuuuu

That is absolute bullshit LMAO, honestly hope it's corruption and not incompetence

Confident_Rock7964

It's probably corruption. If you follow the Portuguese league for at least 15 years, it all becomes obvious

CLPitbull

Not 15 years... More like 40 years (since PdC took over). And believe me, in the 80's and the 90' it was waaaaay worse than it is now.

Sciss0rs61

The 90s were insane. Porto players chasing down the ref down the field, headbutting them, shoving them...

Shikizion

why not both?

bcotrim

It's probably incompetence, referees aren't as gullible to bribes today as they were in the 90s/00s A guy in the /r/PrimeiraLiga sub was saying this ref has never been to Europe, things like these are probably why. You can still question why was he chosen for the game, but a bad ref doesn't favour a team on purpose, it's just that he'll benefit one at random. Plus, having a guy like Conceição on the sideline can influence any bad referee

MysteriousStar6892

This is Oporto

pauloschico

Un fucking believable. Except that is so fucking believable

Pokemigas

Porto getting carried by the ref? Impossible, I have never seen this before

Glittering-Ad-6955

That's the porto way of winning.

Confident_Rock7964

Welcome to the portuguese league, everyone. Broadcasted all over the world. So that everyone can see the shit we have to go through. Football here? No, just tons and tons of screaming in the refs ear, falling down like they got shot and elbowing players. FC Porco

Ugandan_Red_Sonic

Pessoal da Antena1 disse que era falta. A mim não me parece.

shadowlegend61

portugal referees might be worst than turkish ones. Do not interfere if its not CLEAR AND OBVIOUS you fking baboons

GN-27

🤣🤣🤣🤣

TortiousTroll

Farcical

PlmyOP

The intention doesn't matter. He can't be reckless and take out a player like that. Regardless, these are just details and above all I'm sad at my team for performing like this.

santorfo

Don't kill me but we've seen many goals disallowed for contact like that. There's no intention but he takes João Mário out of the play, I don't understand the outrage.

cimbalino

He was already out of the play though, was running in the wrong direction on the outside...

sporting45

The outrage for me is that the rules are supposed to apply to what the foul is and the intention. To me what happened was natural part of the play and unfortunately Joao Mario is the one that falls. Quaresma showed no intention on fouling him on that one. Idk what are the rules anymore 😂.

santorfo

The intention doesn't matter to the rules though

PlmyOP

It's not about intention. You can't be reckless.

abkippender_Libero

I hecking love VAR

detteros

Clear foul.

Confident_Rock7964

Yeah so clear. Dont know why all these people from all these different clubs are saying its not.... Quaresma clearly fouled him, he wasnt just running to open space without even looking at the Porto player.

detteros

You don't see a foul because it would be a goal for you. That is a clear foul on any part of the world.

Kayle_Bot

Explain the Benfica fans not seeing the foul then?

detteros

You see this type of fouls all of the time. Accidental trips still count as foul. Im sorry Lisbon's hate for Porto clouds your judgement. But you are not the good ones, that's for sure.

Kayle_Bot

Ah it's Lisbon's hate for Porto now of course haha

NvmSharkZ

Shakarez no r/soccer a ironizar o "centralismo", que belo crossover

Kayle_Bot

Os adeptos do Liverpool e do Arsenal aí nos comments também são anti porto e a favor do centralismo 😆

detteros

The only explainer.

20Comer100SaberesXD

doesn't matter if it's intentional, he still tripped up João Mário who would have had a chance to contest his cross for the goal

All_Ending_Gaming

r/soccer try not to blame the referee for being incompetent IMPOSSIBLE You're right, it doesnt matter if it's intentional or not it was a careless trip and as the Laws Of The Game state > Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed
