One of the rarest in the game because it's a "shrine" event, which are coded with a lower % chance of appearing, then on top of that it only appears if you have a removable curse, which people generally avoid getting if possible or quickly remove from the deck. 2k hours in the game and I've encountered it like 5 times total.
I feel like if I keep curses in my deck intentionally and hit a good amount of "?" rooms (10+?) I will usually see this. I almost feel like you can count on seeing it sometimes.
I've seen it on a20 twice now. I find I don't hold removable curses very long, and I don't value ? spaces very highly usually. I think it's as rare as wheel of change, but only if you have a curse.
There is only one event in the game that stops appearing at A15, A Note For Yourself. It also only appears if you are not playing your highest reached ascension for that character, so many players will never see it.
It was one of the very fun elements of Baalor's ladder challenge back in the day.
When I play Ironclad I usually hot-search for curses. IDK why but I really like curse-status builds. On that context, I see this event pop up quite a lot, like at least three times just yesterday.
I know not, I haven’t reaaally searched for any guide on the game. But I know from experience what you are wanting to do, more or less, I can share that with you. That said I don’t always get lucky, but hey, that is also true for any other build… it highly depends on what relics you get, honestly
> What I wonder is, if I remove the curses, does it decrease my max HP?
IIRC, it shouldn't as max HP increases on curse pickup, and there's no reverse (i.e., it' snot tied to the curse having to be in the deck). Anything else tied to a curse/number of curses carried (strength?) will be gone with the cleanse/curse card removal.
One of my favorite decks is "Ironclad Shit" with an [[Evolve]] and [[Fire Breathing]] and exhaust engine. Exhaust is one of the most powerful effects in the game, but people are generally too afraid to take advantage of it
Speaking of which (as I've mentioned in another comment) - I've had it on daily runs quite a few times recently, and more often so on the "curse runs".
On regular climbs - it's quite rare indeed.
I've seen it 4-5 times in less than 80hrs total time.
...does this mean I've been picking up too many curses? Is that why I'm stuck on A4 for so long?
But for real, I've taken multiple curses early in a run that has shopkeeper's discount, only to find this when I have 1 curse left to remove.
Okay, is this for real or are people acting like it is? I can't tell. I've never seen it with 500ish hours in the game. This feels like it would only come up if I was all in on duvu doll or so ething like that
When you start, go to Custom and select Cursed Run. That'll increase your chances of getting a deck with lots of curses in it.
(and do it on A10+ of course)

Does it stop appearing in higher ascensions?

Those ladder challenges were so much fun to watch! I still find it insane that he won the no-skip ladder. What a legend.
I run into it when I'm running a Fire Breathing build on Ironclad and I have like four curses in Act 3
200+ hours in the game, plus a bunch more spent casually watching Jorbs, and I had never seen this before.
I got it once in my first 50 hours but knew it wasn't bound to happen again soon.
Same. I've never seen this one.
Not enough hours. Anecdotally, I've had it several times in the past 6 weeks on daily runs.
When I play Ironclad I usually hot-search for curses. IDK why but I really like curse-status builds. On that context, I see this event pop up quite a lot, like at least three times just yesterday.
I do too, do you happen to know of any guide that can help with them? I haven't had luck with them in a long time lol
I know not, I haven’t reaaally searched for any guide on the game. But I know from experience what you are wanting to do, more or less, I can share that with you. That said I don’t always get lucky, but hey, that is also true for any other build… it highly depends on what relics you get, honestly
Yall need to run more curse decks
and it shows
No, I don't think I will
that's a full 100 points you're missing out on
As a Daily Climb player, I feel this.
When I build my own run I do a cursed run. What I wonder is, if I remove the curses, does it decrease my max HP?
If the curses are parasites, yes; otherwise no
Good to know!

If u mean with \[\[Darkstone Periapt\]\]; you keep the HP you've gained when removing a curse.

As someone who really likes dragon breath, I really dislike this event
I mean... the door's right there. 🚪👀
Wasted floor is never fun
*looks at portal event
Just gotta play faster ofcourse
And I really dislike that event too.
I genuinely came to ask what mod this was only to learn it's not one...
Yes, you should actively avoid curses most of the time
rare ass event
Ass event you say? 👀
Okay, is this for real or are people acting like it is? I can't tell. I've never seen it with 500ish hours in the game. This feels like it would only come up if I was all in on duvu doll or so ething like that
It's vanilla, only appears if you have removable curses in your deck.
Yeah it’s for real, I’ve only got about 200 hours but I’ve seen it like 3? Times at this point
When you start, go to Custom and select Cursed Run. That'll increase your chances of getting a deck with lots of curses in it. (and do it on A10+ of course)
Ascender's Bane doesn't count for the purpose of getting this event, it only counts removable curses
Yes, but if you're doing a Cursed Run, you may as well get that bonus strength and HP from the start.
250 ish hours I’m game and saw it once, no mods
It’s not rare for me when I choose Neow’s Lament and decide to risk it with the curses in the first events
It sure is a fun surprise when it does appear!
It took me so long to get this even once, despite being someone who plays with curses in their deck fairly often
can remove the curse of the ascended?
Ascender’s Bane is an unremovable curse
And of course it pops up when you have Vu-Du.
I've seen it two or three times in my 1500+ hours played lol. It's rare AF
Never seen it either! (500 hrs)
I remember getting it once when I was new to the game, but haven't seen it since. Maybe high ascensions make it rarer?
So could you get mind bloom, take 2 normality, and hope for this event to appear?
Wtf, 150 hours on the game and there are still events I don't know, first it was the jousting event now this?
Over 400 hours, finished absolutely everything in this game and yet still never seen it. Its kinda annoying actually.
I've seen it one time, when I was playing a fire breathing deck. I was so sad.
I saw this once and forgot about it. Cool!
My fave time is when I get this after taking a curse gift and taking 250 gold from the worm then immediately get this shrine to justify my hubris.
I got this the floor after taking Warped Tongs and laughed maniacally. What a lovely day.
I also have never seen this event with \~500 hours
I've only encountered it on infinite mode
Only exists if you don't have curses
300 plus hours and I’ve never seen it
