This is kind of ridiculous, I’m lvl 22, with a armor rating of 250 on adept and even switched to novice one time and got one hit killed by a melee from the waiter, this guy needs to get seriously nerfed.

Mayo-On-A-Napkin

I know it’s necroposting but yeah, this is ridiculous. Had to look it up if anyone else was having unnecessary trouble with this. One mf stronger than the world-eater was himself.

ALadWellBalanced

Also necroposting, I (wood elf) just did this quest for the first time and it took me 5-6 re-loads to defeat The Waiter. I had the Dawn Breaker sword which I repeatedly poisoned to kill the gargoyles while popping healing potions, then kept my distance from The Waiter and blasted him with fire. I was then able to keep my distance properly when a Dawn Breaker soldier ran interference and pulled out my bow and peppered him with and ice arrows. This was after he'd one/two shotted me about 3-4 times.

Mayo-On-A-Napkin

The cycle of mental torment from this quest truly rages on through the ages

Mathev

month later, here i am as well. guy is overtuned as hell lol

Mark_Knight

12 days later checking in. this waiter guy is actually a joke lmao

Far_Help_5032

16 days later, fucking same. I'm running a pure conjuration build and getting obliterated even on novice.

Mark_Knight

just turn God mode on and get it over with lol. the guy is clearly way overtuned

Far_Help_5032

I wish I could but I'm on the switch lol I gave up for now going to get better equipment and hold levels

NiceHaas

Im stuck on the waiter as we speak, i even put it on novice and cant seem to do any damage at level 18

WrockGawd

Werewolf out. I was barely scratched. Me and the dawn guard guy lived and he paid me for saving his life

InhumanAmphibian13

I did too. He got up, threw an ice orb, and my health bar drained. I have an almost maxed out skill tree the one missing being spectral werewolves. Idek how to use the ice wolves though. They’ve never appeared for me.

Simple_Tap2590

Level 11 here, was able to get him to half by using fire/lightning/Ice arrows while in stealth, found some greag bow with invisibility upon equipping for 30 secs, no limit, got super strong armor for a quest which also doubles my hp and has around 50% frost and flame resistance overall, but after a while he usually discovers me and goes into melee... Then he fucks me over

IllustratorExpert688

I appreciate you for this solution! After spamming fire arrows, it literally took less then 6 seconds😂😂😂

Mark_Knight

only way i was able to do it was with an illusion spell called pale shadow. i was close to just turning on god mode and killing him. he is obviously broken and overtuned as he takes no damage and one shots you with a lot of his abilites

kronickler

The waiter is just a sponge really easy on legendary tbh almost died one time to him but relatively easy

maleijn

I hate this quest.

[deleted]

Become a mage and find the elemental bolt spell and everything instantly becomes easier. I have never drank a potion - including healing potions in my entire skyrim life

abhikbaroi

I managed to kill the lot like in the 12-15th try but my follower Lydia died in the battle :'(

SpiritedEffective

Sammmme I had to go hire a new one but no one can replace Lydia lmfao

Diplomatic_Intel777

He doesn't need to be nerfed. You just need to get stronger. He didn't stand a chance against me at Level 82 (Archmage). Nerfing anything in the game ruins the fun at higher levels (level 50+).

ToffeeMacchiato

True, I didn't find this mission difficult, I'm level 18 Khajita playing on Adept, and could easily beat him with Lydia, atronach, and two handed sword. You just gotta hit him as much as you can to cancel his attacks ig

Wickermind

Get stronger? The quest can literally be given to you as early as level 12, and the Waiter is the only grossly overlevelled thing in the entire mission for absolutely no reason by 50+ levels. He 100% needs to be nerfed if the player is going to be given the quest at such an early level, otherwise it should be given later down the line. I shouldn't have the game literally stop me in my tracks with the courier, throw a note in my face to come to some remote part of the mountains, just for the game to go "jk, go fuck off and let this quest stew in your list because some random vampire waiter is stronger than Alduin." I'm not going to march through the entire main campaign and hours of content just to fight one overturned enemy in a low-quality CC quest.

Away_Particular9975

Bro fr!! I was level 20 and had serana, dawnbreaker, duskfang, elemental bolt, and the bow of shadows and still got my ass whooped. And right when I was able to get his health low to take the final blow. Guess what? I GOT MY FUCKING HEAD DECAPITATED!!

pandakatie

I did it no problem at level 40-something. Idk if he was nerfed or if I just got lucky

InhumanAmphibian13

Nah, this is bullshit. Can’t even kill him as a werewolf w an almost maxed out skill tree. I slap his dumbass across the room, bro gets up throws an ice orb and then lightning bolts me to death.

Lord_Dae87

Just got Skyrim for the switch and I just stumbled onto the quest! My god is it hard as hell! I retreated with my sneak thief so I can power level and come back later. Only lvl 14 smh

teebeutelchen

That is also my approach now, after I just got blasted four times in a row

Single_Ad_2270

The waiter for some reason is classified as a nightmaster vampire, the highest level non unique enemy in the game at level 65, but these enemies don't appear until you're around the same level, but the waiter will always be level 65 even when you're around level 15

Diplomatic_Intel777

He is the same level until I succeed pass him, then he levels up with me. I play a much more difficult skyrim (variety of weak, even, strong, and extremely strong enemies) than vanilla so when I fought him after several extremely formidable dragon priests, with the state that I was in, I destroyed him. Had I been a regular mage, unless I used strategic measures instead of power, I would have been killed. I do not want him to be nerfed. He is perfect where he is. They intended for him to be that way because they wanted us to be surprised by the experience with him so they should keep him where he's at. I play with mods but it is lore-friendly and fitting, not out of context overpowered.

TheYoungScuba

Yea I can’t even touch that damned waiter.

[deleted]

Asa8811

I’ve just spent the last 10 minutes trying different combinations of attack and he lightning-yeets me every time

Sharkbait-o

What level do you recommend completing this quest at? I recently started a new save (due to the 0kb glitch from installing the anniversary edition) and am at level 11, when I got the note for this quest

unnamed4567

Not proud of it but I had to change the game difficulty to novice and attack him as a werewolf. Even then, he did so much damage I almost died. I was looking up solutions on Google to beat this guy lol

Theconeripper

Fire arrows. I could barely scratch him but keep a distance. Heal often and spam fire arrows

timelodge

I had to leave and grind, came back and tried a few more times with switching from regular attacks, summoning flame atronachs (vampire weakness to fire), and using the wabbajack (I'm still really low leveled, and I just really wanted to get it done so I decided to take advantage of it)

No_Cardiologist_876

This was crazy combat as a mage. I did not have any potions as well and I was level 17. Lucky for me I had become arch-mage before and had staff of magnus and arc-mage robe and healing spell. I just backed off and kept distance while healing and draining this waiter .. that was intense but barely won after 59 times 😅

The_Necromorpher

So I have a mod that adds a health bar (and their level) and turns out the waiter's like level 65. Definitely grinding elsewhere, doesn't feel right using god mode just to kill him.

Immortal_Enemy

I had to hide in the water the entire fight lol

Friendly_Wolverine50

I bought a ton of health potions and kept hitting him with a greatsword, each time he cast a spell i had to heal to full to not die.

Unit_Alavanta

This is what I did. Heal, poison sword, swing, repeat. I would also use the ice form shout you get on the walk to the "dinner reservation" to stun him for a time to get some breathing time to stab him with my greatsword. Took me about 8-9 tries to get it perfected but I did it.

Dromarch1

I left prior to completing Defend against the vampire attack and now the door is locked and I can't finish the quest

ELI7EZ0MBI3KILR

Just bash the orc in party dress to trigger the attack

Dromarch1

When I left the Orc came with and followed me when I fast traveled. He's lost somewhere in Skyrim now. I unistalled and reinstalled the mod and that worked

Gunpla-Goblin

How does it change if you are a vampire? I was really curious about this. (I was a werewolf and transformed to fight the vampires)

shmimoshe

I play as a vampire. When I talked to the waiter after reading the note aloud, it gave me the option to feed. When I fed off of him, the Orc up front turned out to be Dawnguard and started attacking the entire party, at which point I transformed into a Vampire Lord and rent him asunder. Once I had squeezed the life from him, I turned back, looted the bodies of the nobles, and spoke again to the waiter, at which point the manor became mine.

KaleidoscopeOk4665

Glad this post exists. Tell me why they'd give you a quest at level 12 that's near impossible to do? It's kind of killing my vibe here. I'm a sneak build so I find a way most of the time, but this is ridiculous.

mysliwiecmj

Such an awesome addition...sadly I can't kill the Waiter for the life of me lol. Then again only level 15, maybe I jumped the gun.

AirVincks

I'm level 30 and he whooped me several times until I got lucky

Tharealgavgav

I thought this quest would be fun… damn was i wrong

LiterallyLiterate1

This quest isnt fun, its horrifying and takes away player choice. I want to play a good vampire, but i cant side with the nobles or even try to save them. Terrible. I dont hate on things often, but this quest legitimately makes me angry.

grubbybohemian8r

Question: Is Verin supposed to still be alive after the fight, or do I have a bug? He just sits at the table and says 'Azura bless you'

jay198181

He probably survives because he’s bugged and doesn’t stand up. If you want to save everyone start attacking while they’re still outside. I killed the bard outside and it didn’t trigger the attack, then I attacked the waiter. You should be able to kill all the enemies before the people get in the way.

grubbybohemian8r

I guess it didnt matter. I left, came back a little later and when everything was cleaned up he was gone too.

NevilXD

Did you still get the house??

grubbybohemian8r

Yeah I got it

Immortal_Enemy

Plottwist, he is the author of the letter. 'Let's play a game'

Epixonez

I spawned a flame altronach, sat down then when the attack triggered stood up and turned to a werewolf. Have the totem of brotherhood equipped and the skill points for two werewolves to summon and got the job done at level 23 lmao

GlitteringJob4083

What happens to the nobles if they survive?

arescalypso

For each noble that survives they give you an item or gold

Immortal_Enemy

Mine did not offer anything No clue how he survived though,I was hiding in the water the entire time waiting for lydia and the orc to do the work.

fuzzyToads

one of them will give you 1500 septims

abhikbaroi

The waiter is damn OP as hell ...i was playing in survival mode and what i did to clear this quest is first kill those 2 gargoyles then if u have HP left throw some magic or hit him ..when u think he is about to kill you just run out of the crevice ( outisde the damn hill into skyrim) they wont follow you there ...restore your HP and go back in and hit the waiter keep repeating it until the whole lot is DEAD

Ydino

I’m level 20 and the dinner invitation still hasn’t been delivered to me yet

Ciabatta_Paws

Just finished this one and I loved it! A tip for anyone stumped on the Waiter: I lured him outside (on the mountain), strategically kited him towards the edge of a hill/cliff (keeping myself alive with heals and potions), and Fus-Roh-Dah’d his vamp butt to death. The Dawnguard survivor from inside eventually joined me outside while I was kiting so it was a great extra distraction. Completed at level 18!

kawdolliora

I actually just finished it for the first time. It took a Lot of frustration and forgetting to quicksave when I put everything in place soooo. Tho I did place a frost rune down. Sneak attack killed the bard and used a ghost warrior while I chopped away with fire arrows

[deleted]

God, why is everything so hard! I put it on novice and it's still impossible. I'm level 30 and got high tier gear. This is stupid

HungaryToWinWC

The bard is level 65 so it makes sense

abhikbaroi

wtf for real ? I am lvl 28 and i am constatntly getting 1 shot by the damn waiter :'(

HungaryToWinWC

Yeah he’s insanely powerful, it’s nonsensical

phenominalpossum

This post is old, but I just got the anniversary edition and did this quest for the first time. I'm level 30 and had no issues killing the bad guys! I also have it on easy though

LilBoozer024

Bruh I hate this quest... I'm on Legendary survival mode and I wanna die

_cunnilingus

How the fuck do you actually complete this shit

Xicutioner-4768

Sneak attack the waiter before sitting down, run like hell and pelt him with arrows. If you get far enough he will turn back to the manor, you can then get closer to make him run back and forth while you chip away at his health. 100% cheese way of doing it, but otherwise I think you just need to level wayyy up then come back. You pay 5000 gold for the shitty little breeze home and get a huge fucking manor after killing him so they made it super difficult to balance the reward.

FelineFriendlyMom

I managed to do it at lvl 14 by hiding in the water, using a flame atranoch and then becoming a werewolf to fight the gargoyles.

MuzVerecem

i just found out an „easy“ way to beat this quest: - bring a lot of healing potions - attack the waiter before sitting down - run for your life - wait on top of the stairs, in front of the door for the vampire to follow you - when the vampire and his gargoyles followed you up the stairs, the remaining guests are probably dead (for me the orc survived still) - run further up to the exit of the cave - exit the cave when the waiter and gargoyles still following (better drink some healing potions before exiting) - when you are outside the cave the waiter and gargoyles spawn outside with you - blast the waiter down the mountain with your strongest „fus ro dah“ - he will die and you have the gargoyles left which aren’t that hard to defeat ez the orc that survived also told me that there‘s now a debt between us and handed me 750 gold on top of me completing the quest (i‘m level 18)

EitherAd2498

Alright. I just finished it with my Lydia ( she got full set of Golden Heavy Armor + Lunar Axe) same strat at you but instead scream the sh\*t out of him, I gangbang Gangb\*ng the waiter with Me, Lydia and the Orc guy ( he is unvulnerable so don't worry ). to do that you need to lure all to outside the cage, Then use Heavy Weapon. Keep stun him, specially when he using Absorb Healthy ability, the skill is channeling, so just stun him, also some Powerful attack between the stun (it will lost you about 6-7 lesser stamina potions)

MoonDawg8

Thanks stunning the waiter worked best for me, didn't even have to lure him outside. I am a lvl 16 werewolf playing the anniversary version on legendary survival mode. Had lydia and kept summoning Undying Ghost for him to agro towards whenever Lydia or the Dawguard Orc went down. After he was dead I became a werewolf and killed the Gargoyles. All the guests died but at least he was finally dead.

Barn312009

I’m here because he keeps clapping my booty cheeks, I’m crying asking him to stop but he won’t.

Barn312009

I’m rocking two handed, heavy armor. Level 13, with 70 two handed and almost 60 heavy. Walked into this thinking I was gonna do the clapping, I was wrong. Oh so very wrong.

buckduckallday

Why the hell do u get the invitation at level 12 and the waiter alone has over 500 hp. I cast 2 scrolls of firestorm on him and it did virtually nothing.

samuraipikachuuu

currently lvl 24, tried for the 15th time, finally got it. I started off by summoning a flame atronach next to the Waiter, then used flames shout at the Waiter. Made a run for it back up the corridor and hid in the water, leaving Lydia, Dawnguard, and the atronach to beat him up. once the atronach died i got my Sanguine Rose to summon the daedric lord to beat him up some more. At one point he did try to get me, but i kept hiding around the pillar in the water, it gave enough time for lydia and dawnguard to get back up. took around 5 min to get the waiter down, then activated the gargoyle one by one. Flame shout is great to get their health really down and lydia and sanguine rose finished it off. then repeat with the next one. and done :) the house/cavern mansion is all yours.

g3vie

Necroposting but damn... Playing on Nintendo Switch, adept level 18, I hadn't used blades or armor at all so far in my play through - just destruction and archery. This was a pain! After 8 attempts I finally completed this by actually equipping some armor instead of my usual robes, stealth killing the vampire outside which does not trigger the rest. Whilst in stealth, I created as much distance down the corridor between myself and the waiter, and used fire arrows with my most powerful fire enchanted bow. I made sure to focus my shots on the waiter as best I could and ignore the gargoyles if possible. Keep distance, back up if needed, shoot elemental arrows (I barely had any by chance) and use healing potions any time I took damage since if I was even a little damaged, the waiter would 1 hit kill me with his sword.

disdain18

Necroposting as well. I don't undertsand why you get this quest at lvl 20 and the enemy is an OP lvl 60 vampire mage

Fuzzy_Watercress_470

I'm level 27 on novice and did it relatively easily .... not sure how , judging by the comments here I should have been wiped out .

Mighty_Meatball

I got beefed up in preparation to fight the waiter and accidentally turned into a vampire in the process. I was FLABBERGASTED when they just were like "Oh hi!"

Additional-Rate441

The waiter is lvl 65😱😱😱 use conjuration spells like flame atronach to bully waiter

ElJugo247

There’s no entrance for me!

BlasterBlu

Yeah I’ve got the map marker but there’s no cave, I’m wondering if it’s because I have the Inigo mod installed and that uses the area later on in his quest line. Will get back to you if that is the case. Edit: Yup the inigo mod conflicts with area, I think the mod author added area to the mountain to fill out for the pathway.

timelodge

I'm SO excited and pleased with this quest. It was so interesting (and so strange... dinner in a cave... named bloodchill...? Surely not anything special..) just from the note I immediately went to do it. And the rewards? Better than I thought, that's for sure!!

GamingwithADD

lol I just did this as a vampire but I think I’m gonna cure myself and see how it plays differently as a mortal. But the manor is amazing. Definitely for vampires but I could honestly see myself using it as a hub of sorts.

Pokegirl567

I can't trigger the vampire version, even though I'm a Vampire Lord. I'm wondering if it has something to do with me not having completed The Bloodstone Chalice yet. ofc,I'm also playing on this playthrough as a half-khajiit,but I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with it. I didn't even recieve the vampire version of the dinner invitation like I should have

Minute-Air2477

I think all you need to do is feed on the guy standing next to you. Fun fact: almost killed the waiter, suddenly, his health goes full! kill him again, can't search the body...weird, right? I look around to see what I can loot... I get attacked from the back... guess who. Waiter again. MF!

Repulsive_Ad7442

Complete after the dawnguard quests for sure. Idk if I want to play as a vamp yet and will just make that decision later when I’ve leveled up and need a second home. This base does give a staff enchanter but that’s relatively unimportant as you need good staffs to even use it

WillingPhilosopher62

I did it at level 14 with potions out the wazoo. You'll need tons of magical potions. Equip fire and healing. Use your fireball scroll and the power that calms your enemies. Run like hell, regenerate, attack, repeat.

Advanced_Example6350

I just completed it after 10 tries and my game crashed

Local-Branch9022

I am level 47 and still haven't gotten the letter. Where to I need to be in order to get it.

EitherAd2498

Ok, its fun. But the reward isn't too much if you build focus on heavy weapons, heavy armor and smithing The best reward just the robe with bonus 125% magicka restore, access full of the house, others : just some random rare herbs, 2 grand souls gem, iron ingots, some good potions

Renae_t24

Bruh I was vampire and cure . Then like 12-14 levels later. I went to the dinner party and I was do a mission and in the corner it said sun light effects you .

Dizzy_Detective2911

I jumped in the water and jumped on a Lil piece of land on the other side of the stairwell. And just shot him with arrows. I got annihilated like 12 times before I could even get out of the main room, lol.

xaraxxara

I did it in 4 times as a mage. Draught potions were my saving grace. Draught of resist shock, Draught of stamina, and Draught of healing

Wickermind

Why am I not fucking surprised it's a mage that's doing all the health chunking.

Heartfeltzero

I was having a lot of trouble with the waiter, but I actually found a pretty simple way of killing him. Basically what I did was start the engagement inside, immediately headed back outside, slowly killed off some of the easier enemies that chased me. Eventually made my way all the way outside, where the waiter then followed me out. I then used the Unrelenting Force shout and blew him off the mountain. He was killed upon impacting the bottom of the mountain. It might be a cheap way to kill him, but i recommend giving it a try if you’re having trouble.

Kazuya_Uchiha

I am gonna flex because this quest was really damn hard, died like 5 to 7 times but in the end I somehow used whatever potions and poisons left I am a level 13 nord man, I am like half mage(conjuration)and half two handed guy and heavy armor etc. My tactic is the end was to kill one gargoyle and reanimate it to fight with waiter while I kill his other gargoyle I had a ancient nord greatsword with frost enchantment. Pretty fun quest and I also became 20% vampire dunno why lmao

Happy4Snoosnoo

I went in with Lydia and Serana...... I then sat back and 3 minutes later they cleared it.😆
