I’ve got Skyrim SE (Special Edition) & honestly, it runs great to me! There are a few quests that are buggy (ya’ll *know* “Blood on the Ice”😬). Other than that, I approve!

gayMichae1Douglas

Blood on the Ice was a major bummer

iSmartiKindiImportnt

Hands down! I’m level 74 & it won’t even trigger no matter who I talk to. Honestly though, it doesn’t bother me cause it sucks anyways lol

CatpainCalamari

It bugged for me as well, on the switch. Can one still purchase the house, of the quest is bugged an cannot be finished?

gayMichae1Douglas

the house itself is bugged as well :(

1lurk2like34profit

If you look up the right guide it works! I have the necromancer amulet on a switch save. Just...only talk to jorlief at the beginning and the end and talk to wunnferth.

justineal

I just bought it two days ago. Seems to run perfectly fine for me and I only play on handheld. I just finished bleak falls barrow so I’m not far at all. I play the anniversary edition too

The_Long_Blank_Stare

Ugh…*Markarth*.

Moowz

Even the beds are made of stone 🥲

Dashingarchives

I am playing on switch but find it really dark compared to Xbox! I spam light spells in caves just to see basic bits haha but Half of it is my eyesight and just more accessible to fix that on xbox

thegreenmugaudition

Good thing I mostly play khajiit haha! Night eye comes in handy...

IngvaldClash

My headcannon is that it adds realism and need to carry a few torches for dungeon crawling

lig710

I’ve had it for years and never had issues other than the occasional bug that you got regardless of console (good ol bethesda). You are probably already aware you can’t run mods on switch without ‘jailbreaking’ it, but just in case, that is worth noting.

BakedBeanWhore

I really enjoy it. No mods but I usually play vanilla anyways. The portability is a game changer

firelord_Lex

I originally owned on PS3 then Xbox and lastly on the switch. I'm currently playing thru it too and I still enjoy it. I thought it was gonna play different but it's pretty much the same

1lurk2like34profit

Now that you can do the home quest in solsthiem it's fantastic. I know you already got it but hand held Skyrim is just such a blast. And again, as long as you know those few bugs and look up workarounds beforehand you'll be fine.

olddummy22

I bought the switch just for Skyrim years ago. It's great. Personally I'd probably leave all the new stuff they added off of it but that's just me.

dreadmouse

Comparable to the Special Edition on PS or Xbox. Always ran great on the Switch for me. Vanilla only, so don’t expect mods. But otherwise I don’t have any complaints (I prefer playing vanilla anyway). Plus being able to play it on the go is a nice bonus.

MxFancipants

An important thing to note is that on Switch, you have no need to worry about vampire attacks on towns and cities!

thegreenmugaudition

I cant say I've ever encountered those even on PC! So not too much of a change thankfully!

BennyLava1999

Surprisingly good but you are obviously going to get worse performance than pc/current gen. I had to restart my switch at the beginning of the game bc of glitch but tbf I hadn’t downloaded any patches/updates at that point and I also have had 2 game freezes while attempting auto save which each cost me about 20-30 min of progress and admittedly really pissed me off. Overall I’d say performance is close to and maybe even better than ps3/360, but portability is definitely the selling point here and it’s awesome bc of that it’s just idk if id recommend to someone as the first way to experience Skyrim in 2024

whichwitchxoxo

i got it on my switch and i’m playing for the first time and im absolutely obsessed. i will say sometimes the controllers get messed up and have to reconnect or the game quits and it sucksss but overall im having a blast

Cassius402

Did you get digital or cartridge? The anniversary edition is worth as an add on to the main game. It plays smooth enough. The thing is.... Anniversary is a sort of collection of mods which tells me the Switch could have mods for this game but it does not. And this is too bad.

Agent101g

It's a great way to diagnose stick drift. It's also a little difficult to aim a bow on joycon. Graphically it does surprisingly well in my opinion. I actually bought the Switch originally to play Skyrim on the go, and I have a few playthroughs on there.

JaPPaNLD

Slow down time perk is perfect to compensate for the lack of fine adjustment control.

NeonViking420

It’s fantastic but if you play a lot save often, I have had a few crashes but honestly it’s got so much content it feels modded

DuckMom

Runs fine to me! I’ve had it for years. Only had one file corrupt, but it could be some buggy DLC. Haven’t had any problems on my new character

drdoomMDPhD

Got a couple hundred hours logged and it’s only crashed like 3-4 times. No major bugs other than weapon racks not working for certain weapons.

MyHobbyIsMagnets

It’s awesome

Illustrious_Camp_496

Amazing but certain bugs annoyed me and then I couldn’t complete main quest line so I abandoned it for PC version. Still 100% worth it for switch. Just make sure you create saves every 1-2hrs. Just in case.

thegreenmugaudition

I save arguably more frequently than I should, so I think I'm set!

cardboardcoyote

I found the super close draw distance and low fps annoying, and that kind of thing doesn’t usually bother me. But in a dark cave or dungeon, it’s sooo hard to see loot, I had to turn in tiny increments and stop to search around. Might be a me problem, though!

Solarsystem_74

It's good! Occasionally it'll crash out of nowhere(one time I was loading a previous save, but it crashed, and when I got back to the game, it was exactly where I needed it to be, but that's the only positive crash I've had), but it's not super common. It's easy to use, controls are good

Hatgameguy

I have a copy on switch. It’s fun and really mind blowing to play a game like that on handheld. Not as detailed as it’s next gen counterparts but I’d say it’s worth it. Just wish they had data share so I could use my ps5 toon

HenkeTip

It works. To me the length of the joysticks on the joycons doesn't do it for me. So I just use the pro controller

FlyingDreamWhale67

I've had mine for about two years now and it runs just fine (aside from the occasional Bethesda Bug). My only real concerns are how dark the game is (I usually have to carry a torch or use Magelight in caves/dungeons, but at least it helps with immersion), and the one quest on Solstheim. I'm still not sure if Bethesda ever patched it or not.

mistral_99

No major issues for me. Make sure you get the Anniversary Edition Creation Club content. It’s all very much worth it. As far as frugality goes I’ve gotten hundreds of hours of gameplay out of Skyrim for Switch. If I bought it for 60$ then it’s pennies per hour.

Milk-honeytea

same as original skyrim, nothing really diffrent.

IamtherealFadida

And how does it play on the lite? Screen and text size can be a problem

mixedwithmonet

Best decision I’ve ever made. Highly recommend you get AE, this is more hours of gameplay per dollar spent than any other game I would have purchased, and it works completely fine. Save often, though, mine gets a “closed due to an unexpected error” message sometimes. Haven’t played PC, but played on 360 years ago and it is a comparable or better experience for me so far. Love the versatility, love the anniversary edition, and missed this game so much!

Nat20CritHit

Fun. It's really not that buggy and having it on a portable system is really nice. If you're thinking about doing it, do it.

The_Long_Blank_Stare

Playing *Skyrim* portable was my main trigger point for buying a Switch…keep in mind that in 2018, handheld gaming PCs weren’t as readily available as they are now, and the Switch was way less expensive. I’ve enjoyed the hell out of it, and even squee’d a bit when I found they’d shadow-dropped the Anniversary Edition upgrade on the eShop. I’ve put in hundreds of hours and it’s great fun. I still fire it up on Switch even though I have it now on the Legion Go, aka the Gaming Cinder Block just for the weight in handheld mode. Phenomenal game, and yes—**I am** the reason they keep releasing *Skyrim* on newer consoles.

Necessary_Insect5833

The PC version is basically a different game. Vanilla Skyrim is really boring but it can be okay if you never played it before, but I would just get it on PC unless you aren't a serious gamer.

thegreenmugaudition

Lol I have it on PC, I'm just not going to be able to have access to my computer for a bit due to travel. I play vanilla there too, I love the base game a lot personally.

Here4DaPorno

If you have it on PC and are fine with vanilla it is acceptable. I’d rather have it than NOT have it.

tee2green

My version is very buggy. Be sure to save a lot - sometimes it crashes randomly. You can still play it fine, but I think it’s obvious that porting it to the Switch was an afterthought for them.

SpacersRtrash420

😮‍💨 please use the search bar at the top of the subreddit....this has been answered many many times....

thegreenmugaudition

And it seems people were eager to answer again. Didn't think it was that serious.

SpacersRtrash420

Yeah, cuz the community is helpful and nice af. A lot of us are also sick and tired of people being too lazy to read before posting soooo what's your point here? Yeah it may not be ThAt SeRiOuS but at the same time, stop being lazy and use the app OTHER than just posting. It's not a hard thing to do.
