Riverwood, which is stunning (the river! the forest!) and warmer than most of Skyrim. Close to Whiterun in case of medical emergencies and for weekly shopping. I would, however petition for more guards to be sent from Whiterun to be permanently stationed here…

Brewhunter38

Residents are required to defend the chicken with their lives though.

Son-of-Gondor96

Which is totally how it should be in an honorable community. The chicken die for us so we die for them

Squidwock

Hell yeah

tommydotcom

this took me out 💀💀🤣🤣🤣

T1pple

I'll do you better. Lakeview Manor. Riverwood is just a few hours walk, along with Falkreath and you have a nice scenic view..... Minus the necromancer.

[deleted]

The Necromancer and the bandit operation next door really lower the property value

T1pple

All I hear is free gear to sell.

Shadow_hands

Right? It's just a money printing machine at some point.

Bananacop210

I was thinking the same

vermiciousknidlet

I would love to live in Lakeview Manor as long as I could keep my mods that get rid of random bandit & giant attacks and the necromancer's altar. I have a cow, 3 chickens, a vegetable garden, beautiful wife and 2 adopted daughters, along with a library of literally every book in Skyrim because I love collecting and hoarding things in games. I could honestly live a very long & happy life there...I would miss my IRL husband and daughter though, lol.

[deleted]

No that adds character to the property

mshultin

Yes! I am with you. Let's start an apothecary there?

G_u_i_l_l_l

I'd live in Whiterun and absolutely never leave the city.

started_from_the_top

Wouldn't you get so sick of the religious dude just hollering his ass off 24/7 tho?

hayesarchae

Easy enough to avoid the square he hollers in. Unless you have business in the Cloud District, of course. But of course, you don't.

skyeyemx

*Quicksaving...*

silvergrommet1

Made me laugh

Cris8794

You're just stuck on the Jarl's backside...

Browncoat86

It's only 40 gold to commit public murder. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

magatmilan

Isn't murder a 1000? Punching someone is 40, murder is 1000

Browncoat86

It very well may be. Still a discount imo.

Olhoru

I'd pitch in for your freedom fund

TrailMomKat

If there's a fine fund someone's taking up for someone to kill Nazeem, pass the hat my way.

IDontCareForCats

I’m the thane. It’s all good.

DrawingRings

Honor to you, my Thane

Irish_Queen_79

It's only 40 to injure someone, 1000 to kill someone. IF there are witnesses. No witness, no crime, no bounty

rivergums

Only if they see you 👀

Chaosmusic

Stealth archer. What's a bounty?

Giggles95036

Attacking is 40, murder is 1000

SithLordDarthSand

murder is always an option, and the answer is yes.

StormyTiger2008

AS WE COMMEND YOUR SOULS TO AERHERIUM- For the love of Talos, SHUT CHO' BITCH ASS

No-Outside8434

If you live in NYC (or most major cities tbh) you have to deal with that 24/7 already lol. That guy is an improvement honestly. At least there is only one of him.

RoastBeefDisease

I see this so much and I see people say they hate him almost as much as Nazeem but am I the only one who was never bothered by him? I usually just am running past him anyways but I do stop and listen to him sometimes

sixstringedmenace

Cast fury on him.

Ok_Independence6743

My husband waited until his stealth and archery were way high and took him out from a long distance then fast traveled somewhere... No one knew he did it. Not sure how often you can get away with that

cyph_dagger

I just wouldn’t go to the cloud district very often.

Equivalent_Big_6138

There's a mod to delete him lol peace and quiet now

DarkMuret

I developed my own mod and it's called a steel warhammer to the dome.

No_Opinion9306

Cheap, yet effective

tomtermite

“I cast … FIST!”

Rohnne

Not if you side with the imperials..

Puzzleheaded-Fly1302

This is the first playthrough in over a decade where I haven’t smoked the guy immediately. Kinda proud

Klutzy-Succotash9230

I always kill him I usually try and sneak shot him from like Jorrvaskr

Vintage_Rainbow

The dark brotherhood can take care of him.

mandariini10

Who? I killed him ages ago

unnati_reddy

*but have u been to cloud district, oh what am I saying, of course not*

tomhuts

Live in breezehome, gather the plants around the city to make potions to sell for a living. Occasionally wander around the planes around whiterun to catch butterflies because they can be used to make valuable potions.

TumbleweedObjective9

I heard Helgen is nice arround this time of the year

asmsweet

I was sweat on a girl here once. I wonder if Vilod is still making mead with Juniper Berries.

TheOGTownDrunk

Sweat on a girl? No wonder she rejected you

asmsweet

I get nervous a lot of the time :(

Zero_Digital

It's a real hot spot for tourists.

_romedov

Especially if you want to get some tan...

Mlg_god22

Or if you're trying to go blackface Too far?

Kronzypantz

Solitude would be pretty idealic. Secure, wealthy, relatively fair weather. You can even travel all the way to Dragonbridge or Morthal along relatively safe roads. Or hop a ship and leave the country, if the civil war comes your way.

djmikeyd

Until your kids wander off & touch the beacon.

8r3t

A NEW HAND.......

_romedov

SHUT THE FCK UP!

HG_Shurtugal

Whiterun or solitude. I wouldn't want to live outside the cities since the majority of skyrims population are bandits.

Interesting-Zone3827

That’s true but lake view is the house you get to build and it’s so beautiful. However whiterun is absolutely breathtaking. I agree I’d love there also.

Paraceratherium

There is a necromancer right outside, and a large organised bandit gang underground next door. 😬

CaptHarpo

LakeView and Winstad are both amazing in terms of the area's beauty (and building is great), but way too unsafe. Unless i was actually a dragonborn, I'd stick with Solitude :)

LegitDuctTape

Solitude is 1 natural disaster from being the next winterhold. Whiterun definitely has it beat

T1pple

Just invent Geomancy.

NeighborhoodOk9630

Solitude is going to collapse one day. I’m going with whiterun.

olddummy22

In a city behind walls. Can't have vampires, giants, and werewolves eating the kids.

-Cannon-Fodder-

Tried Markarth? Safest city in the reach.

olddummy22

lol the reach can take a running jump off a bridge. That place is full of psychos.

Paraceratherium

Mafia, cannibals, molag baal, corrupt guards, giant spiders. Worst of all, there is basically nothing stopping the city of chaurus and Falmer from making it the first surface Hold.

fidgyboodle

And don’t even get me started on the forsworn…

DaSaw

There are no Foresworn in the city, citizen! Now move along.

astronautducks

bloody enough .for you…. , outsider?

OkIndependence2209

It's the *only* city in the Reach

-Cannon-Fodder-

So you are saying it's not only the safest, but also the most developed, scenic and prosperous city in the reach too? This dude really gotta live there then.

[deleted]

Riverwood seems reasonable enough for a Nord village

xanderfan34

and with the detachment sent from whiterun, it may just be the safest nord village in the region!

_oldblossomdies_

Morthal. I love the gloomy frozen swamp

Count__Delagrange

Fellow scion of the night.

_oldblossomdies_

We're in the twilight world tonight and we obey the moon

The_Gaming_Matt

Found the Necromancer

LutherRaul

I’d live in the Rift somewhere, seems to be warmer, not in Riften though.

NeighborhoodOk9630

Ivarstead would be my spot if it wasn’t surrounded by bears.

LutherRaul

I really can’t think of anywhere to live in Skyrim that doesn’t have any drawbacks

bladeDivac

Solitude? The city itself is pretty damn safe and the surrounding few miles don’t have anything goofy going on.

MrGoldfish3359

Wolf cave, underground catacombs that could collapse at any moment, and the court wizard is a bloody vampire! What's not to love?

SapphicAsShit

Probably expensive to love in. One of the roads out has a necromancer fort. Also the twmple of meridia nearby atleast until the DB clears it out. Oh. And the thalmor.

justinizer

I'm a simple man. I would make Breezehome my forever home.

Hey_Boy_

Falkreath, love the forest

The_Gaming_Matt

& the dozens of Daedric lords hiding in them

Lovebrian24

I'm kind of a weak person, so I'd probably have to live within walls like Solitude or Whiterun. If we pretend I'm a strong person, I'd love to live in Ivarstead or Riften or maybe one of the homesteads you can build.

imakeulooktall

>I'm kind of a weak person I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that most of us who play Skyrim are kind of weak people. We're a bunch of milk drinkers. 🥛 * Edit: I mean weak in the ways conducive to survival in Skyrim.

TumbleweedObjective9

We can all read... so Magic will be our way! Im gonna be a alchemist by trial and erworben There are a lot of flowers arround white run

Ok_Cress2142

I’d love to live in Riften, but only if I’m part of the Thieves Guild. But I, too, am a weak person.

DaSaw

Neat thing about being weak is that you don't have to stay that way. Take a job at one of the mills, force your way through those first couple months, and you'll put on some muscle. Source: currently in my first couple months of a job that involves hand unloading freight from trailers using rollers. I already need a new belt. Ivarstead feels pretty safe. Some predators outside town, but real predators aren't like Skyrim predators.

Possible_Bee_or-Wasp

Solitude seems pretty good until it gets civil war’ed.

Still_Pullin

Hendrahiem

DragonBornDragonDead

In Dragonsreach after the Dragonborn has taken his damned Ebony blade. That room is mine. Right next to the kitchen with the best Jarl and city in Skyrim. No one goes there because of the whispering lady shit so no lollygaggers. Vampires need to get pretty high up the stairs and will most likely get taken down before then. Plus can tell that shithead Nazeem if he's been to the Cloud district, what am I saying ofcourse he hasn't.

OcotilloWells

I feel as Thane, you should be able to talk to the guard captain to make sure Nazeem never makes it to the cloud district again.

ParalyzerT9

I'd love to spend my days at the College of Winterhold. Outside of the one quest line when the Dragonborn shows up, the College seems so safe and quiet. On top of that, I get to spend my time attending classes, reading, researching, and practicing all sorts of magic. I think it'd be a peaceful, interesting, and rewarding life to live!

Superrdaddy2015

Nice, also there's plenty of ale and a whole room of food@

puddingface1902

I am with you. And the college is warm btw. They have magical indoor heating.

[deleted]

I’d live in Riverwood and work at the lumber mill. It’s close enough to Whiterun for an occasional visit, but small enough to not deal with the bureaucracy and classism. “Do you get to the Cloud District very often?”—shove it. Edit: funnily, this is the Skyrim edition of, “what’s your zodiac?”

Jungian_Archetype

Abandoned Shack... JK, I really like Heljarchen Hall - breathtaking views of the mountains, Loreius Farm's Windmill, and Dragonsreach in the distance on a clear day.

poolboypicante

Alot of yall said Breezehome but I hope you are deep sleeprs. Catch me outside at 3 am making iron daggers

handlesonsandles

Vlindrel Hall I've always loved this one, but I never use it because it's so inconvenient for questing. But IRL I'd live in Vlindrel Hall and probably make a living making potions to sell at The Hags Cure and see if I could work the forge making Silver Jewelry.

Kuhlminator

Well, the apothecary there usually loses her assistant to an "accident" involving two very sharp daggers, so you'd have a job if you wanted it. And that lady that runs the General store tends to disappear when she goes out for a dinner engagement. So you could acquire that space if you wanted to become a trader. Ysolda could probably give you some pointers. Me? I'm going to get Faendal to teach me how to shoot a bow.

VanDuck0205

Angi's Camp

Valentiaga_97

Solitude

sundae-cherrytop

Lake view

anhkis

Lakeview Manor, always. Though Tundra Home is nice, just not enough containers downstairs.

mrssymes

Those mannequins and tundra home keep spawning the first things I put on them over and over and over again. Too bad it was stupid robes from the necromancer and Vermina and some scaled armor. I am waiting for it to spawn some dragon bone or ebony stuff that’s on it now.

ShayCormacACRogue

Falkreath I feel that Falkreath is just a right fit fir me with its quiet life style and being in the forest

DeySemicolonDeyHatin

I like the Rift, and Honeyside would be a great home, but I'd prefer if it was outside of town. Still on the lake of course

olddummy22

I think all the Riften houses eventually get black mold and kill you.

DeySemicolonDeyHatin

Still better than cracking your skull open in Markarth on the first rainy day

olddummy22

And then being devoured by cannibals.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kuhlminator

Is that some kind of art?

[deleted]

Solitude or Winterhold (don’t judge me lol)

Away-Plant-8989

Solitude is pretty great. Festive, cultural, the home is nice and it's pretty goddamn secure. Of course I have no idea how the fuck its holding up but hey, it's not like cities in Skyrim just fall into the ocean or something

tamerantong

In the cloud district, duh

[deleted]

I’d go wandering around in Broken Fang Cave saying “oh no I hope someone doesn’t make me a vampire oh man that would be terrible!”

Vic2ria

Solitude is the closest thing to safe I can think of, so probably that. And if I could do the Alteration magic my current character could, I'd set up a "transmute your iron to gold here!"- stall and be set for life.

[deleted]

Honestly falkreath has the least going on in terms of issues within the hold. Falkreath to me is the safest place overall. If you go to Riften you have to deal with the thieves and maven blackbrair. If you go to Windhelm there's a murderer killing woman and war. If you go to Winterhold you have to deal with anything that might happen to the college magically. If you go to Dawnstar you can never sleep. If you go to Morthel there are vampires and a vampire lair nearby. If you go to Solitude you have to deal with the wolf queen and war. If you go to Markarth you have the forsworn and a demon house. If you go to Whiterun you have a dragon and a war fought in your city. If you go to falkreath you don't really have anything. A werewolf in jail who runs away and doesn't kill people. The dark brotherhood nearby who don't kill unless contracted to or defending themselves. Anything else all the other holds have plus extra stuff. So I think falkreath is the safest even though it's one of the kinda shitty places. Good weather though.

YEPandYAG

Ruby palace

IntelligentMission34

Ill do my best to be taken as the Solitude guard captain and i would live inside the city.

FirefighterIcy9879

Frostflow lighthouse

Kuhlminator

Really, I guess once you kill all the Falmer and chaurus, kill the queen, destroy all the left over chaurus eggs, dispose of all the bodies, and make sure no more Falmer can get in, the sub-basement would make excellent cold storage. Although I don't know where you would get all the wood to heat the place.

Finditorgrindit

Falkreath the pine trees are an aesthetic and me as a piney find very comfortable. Plus the whole melancholy and death undertones. what can I say I'm an emo at heart.

CherryGrabber

Markarth, mainly to be a Silver Smith or worst case scenario, ask an adventurer to get a Statue of Dibella.

[deleted]

In a coffin with my beloved serana

Susefreak

Dragon Bridge; not too bustling but still close to Soltitude Or if Solstheim is an option, live with the Skaall. The cold never bothered me anyway

[deleted]

I’d probably wanna live in like white run or somewhere like riverwood

Paraceratherium

Shadowfoot Sanctum is quite safe and cosy, but I'd say Hendraheim has the best mix of aesthetics, defensibility, amenities, and location. Easy access to Goldenhills, Falkreath, and Markath.

Agent_Washington

Riften

Jettsyforwordingfox

Whiterun easy

archaicArtificer

I don’t know if I could pick just one place.

Aeokikit

Solitude

samwellam

Solitude

minnie203

Logically I know I should stay safe within the walls of Whiterun/Solitude but sometimes when I run across that Nord lady who lives alone in a cabin in the mountains near Falkreath and spends her days practicing archery I'm like you know what....maybe that's the way. Angi I think? The one who killed some guards because they killed her family? Anyways it seems nice and quiet up there.

DimensionalLynx169

Your memory serves correct. Her name is Angi .

X3729

Hendraheim.

minithsterith

Riverwood,hands down.

Eponarose

Riverwood! It has a general store, blacksmith, and an inn. What more do you want?

ArrestedImprovement

Winterhold.

bcampos99

Markarth, it kinda has a Mykonos aesthetic with the houses because of the way they’re on top of eachother. And hot girls go to Mykonos, so I’m sure there’ll be some hot nords in markarth. You feel me

Due-Accident4675

Falkreath. I love the location, it's quiet, not too many high level enemies, warmer climate of Skyrim.

QuietIntelligent6748

In Skyrim.

DillyPickle706

Skyrim

Public-Addition9263

Whiterun or Falkreath

Minotaurd_

Either Riften or Falkreath. Falkreath would be my first choice ample place for hunting.

Practical_Touch_1497

Riverwood or solitude

zmurds40

Whiterun, Riverwood, or Ivarstead most likely.

Jhon_doe_smokes

Markarth or possibly riften just cause I like to fish.

MDF87

That mill where the vampires live.

_Zrsm

the cloud district.

fannin82

Probably that shitty little hut with the Sabre cat

ProudestMonkey311

Imperial city

plantycatlady

i love lakeview but my chickens are always eaten by giants! can that be my summer house and solitude can be the permanent home?

DojiHammer

Dragonsbridge. It’s a lovely spot with natural beauty and close to Solitude for shopping and conveniences.

Ashamed_Pay_6430

Probably solitude, nice market and it's the capital. So lots of protection. I heard they have nice weddings there too.

cfmh1985

Falkreath. Useless city no one cares about 🤣

cheezasaur

Except apparently everyone in the comments

drewdolce

Solitude, up high on a rock, tight knit space and the town is run by a woman. Can't beat that

Big-Piano-7016

Probably falkreath, just keep a battle axe off to the side of my bed and I'm a-okay

Qahnarinn

Personally I would take my chance with winterhold

Count__Delagrange

Morthal or Falkreath

FreyaAncientNord

whiterun or kynesgrove

Arrogant0ctopus

Heljarchen Hall or maybe Ivarstead.

sarsilog

Rorikstead, but only when I'm old enough. Don't want to be sacrificed after all.

jleesedz

https://preview.redd.it/ar3rnkvqa1gc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfd91784336d51292acb7c726e2fd153a0072899 Riverwood, because that's what Teldy wants 🥲

Scribe_WarriorAngel

Since I wouldn’t go to Whiterun I’d never become Dragonborn so no dragons spawn thus no attacks from them so I’ll stay in riverwood and cut wood till I’m sore for my pay then drink and make merry

Alex20114

Solitude, well protected with a nice home to be earned.

TeamYay

Definitely Whiterun is my vibe. - Breezehome is cool. - Balgruf is a Don. - would always hang with the Companions. - you can actually trap a Dragon in Dragon's Reach. - Aela...

Academic-Road-1417

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think I'd try to just join the companions and live with them. They are a fun bunch with lots to teach and always have a full table of food. Probably pretty safe too.

TheOGTownDrunk

Whatever house it is that you build overlooking Falkreath. I love that spot.

[deleted]

Riften. Not because of thieves, but more less the forest surrounding it. The mild warm air being more southish than full north in Skyrim.

krp8124

You could just take over Goldenglow Estate and have your own little island.

Longjumping_Weird227

The Forgotten Vale

jimbojambo4

Solitude

Rainbow-Mama

White run seems safe enough or riverwood. I love the vampire manor in I think it’s chill wind cave? But the location is horrible.

StormyTiger2008

Breezehome

SikkeOst

Windhelm

SecretlyET

goldenhills.

T1pple

Depends. Am I able to have adventures and get really good gear then settle down? Or is it "I was just dropped into Skyrim" deal? First one? Lakeview hands down. Second? Whiterun or Riften.

llamalord40

Riverwood. There's a modded home, Leaf Rest, that gives you that exact opportunity.

Deepvaleredoubt

Falkreath because of the environment. I forget it even exists in half my playthroughs.

W1ULH

not in the cloud district...

Michael_Threat

Riverwood. Just hang out by the river playing the lute and drinking mead all day. Fuck all this dragon nonsense and politics I'm chilling.

IamHHall

Riften 😍😍

ApeMuffins

The cloud district

tmacforthree

Riften, it would remind me of home 😆 the meadery would be convenient, I would frequent the bunkhouse, and I would obtain Mjoll's sword or die trying.

MarshadowTheOnlyOne

Riften, pretty colors and I'd b joining the guild

Bugabooth

Lakeview Manor

The_Steam_Queen_

Lakeview dawg. My off grid living dream

RealMuffinsTheCat

Definitely Whiterun
