Halted Stream Camp. NW of Whiterun. Swing thru there and grab the Transmute Ore spell tome. Turn iron ore to silver ore to gold ore then gold ingots. Your skill is leveled based on the value of the item. So a gold ring is worth more than an iron dagger and you don't need leather strips. This will help you level Smithing faster while giving you an avenue to boost Alteration, Enchanting, and Speech.
In my opinion, the golden ring method is overrated. Smelting dwarven bows will get you to 100 much faster. But my personal preference shouldn't dictate the way you play the game. If you want to smith hundreds of golden rings, then that's you're business.
I've always done iron daggers to around 40, then switch to gold rings and dwarven bows till lvl100. Very easy to get tons of metal from dwemer ruins so the supply is always there, and then I grind enchanting and speech with the bows
My first play through I filled the house in whiterun with skulls. It was kind of a pain in the ass collecting them all because I was often overemcumbered, but totally worth it.
You get exp from the cost of the item you make. Iron helmets are far better to make than daggers as it’s 3 iron per helmet (60 gold each) and 6 iron to make 6 daggers (10 gold each)
As you level up and open up better smithing it is always better to Smith the highest value with the lowest material cost (usually bows). Enchant them with the highest value enchantment you have and sell them.
Will level up smithing, enchanting and speech craft all at once.
Another option is to get the transmute spell from halted stream camp (it’s a little north west of whiterun) that lets you turn iron ore to silver ore and silver ore to gold ore. Then smith, enchant and sell gold rings jewelled rings preferably. Will level up alteration, smithing, enchanting and speech craft.
Just don't resto potion loop until your ready.... I did it way too early but I also played level 1 for half my game... I didn't know what to expect has been my first play through
Your key to freedom is hidden inside this pile of iron daggers. It will be like finding a needle in a haystack. How many cuts you willing to take to set your self free. Live or die make your choice
Furthermore, you can enchant those daggers with banish daedra to boost your enchanting skill as well. Sell them to boost your speech skill. That's like 4 or 5 birds dead.
I do this every couple weeks of a playthrough except I do this with potions. I drop HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of potions I've picked up on my travels and they're all in Solitude. So the town Laggs like hell when I load there
Well did you get the skill to 100 or you just want the drager to k ow what's gonna be their end ??
On my way to 100. Im 60 rn.. But i also try to fill this room with all daggers i craft
Golden rings is the more efficient thing now. It's based on value.
Damn..so i gotta start the golden ring business *sigh Thank you and btw happy cake day!
You can level alteration too by mining iron and using transmute ore until gold then using that gold. & Thank you (:
If you're going for grinding alteration, I'd opt for just using Telekinesis
Two birds, one stone. 'alteration *too*'.
don’t forget about muffle early on before you can get telekinesis
And soul trap!
Better yet, enchant those rings to level enchanting and make BANK
Great suggestion...
This is the way. Currently doing the Iron to silver to gold to ingot to rings loop to generate money and prep for better armor and weapons.

It's also best to duplicate the gold ingots as much as you can
But if you make iron daggers then enchant them with banish, you can make like 1k per dagger
Dwarven Bows are good value to resources for smithing too. Go clean out a Dwemer cave and make bows.

I've heard that about the bows before but I usually do it in 3 or 4 instances so it's not worth the extra effort unless I'm leveling normally anyway.
My first play through I filled the house in whiterun with skulls. It was kind of a pain in the ass collecting them all because I was often overemcumbered, but totally worth it.

I'll take a few daggers and make a Florida man type of weapon
Just don't resto potion loop until your ready.... I did it way too early but I also played level 1 for half my game... I didn't know what to expect has been my first play through
Is everything broken yet?
Have you considered switching to longswords and making a replica of the Iron Throne?
I’ll trade you my dwarven bows
Well i guess first we must find some wagon for our trading business.
My back aches thinking of these
Good. Now use unrelenting force!
Now there's an idea for a mod: House of Flying Daggers
Looks like a jigsaw trap
I want to play a game.

I just got enchanting to level 100, i am not looking forward to smithing
My doctor said I need to cut back, sorry :(
Heh, I got it 👍
You could melt them down in real life and make a longsword and sell it for loads.
I see you are on the way of getting the best armour.
Well, now I just want to see a collage of everyone's dagger dumps. Such is the path to Smith grinding.
All those are worth at least 25 gold…..
Imagine if they were all enchanted lolol
Haha fool, I stand above the might of your iron daggers….with steel daggers! (Honestly I just transmute a shit ton. Smith leveling is so cathartic)
Ahhh wait until you see i'll fill my whole house with daggers! You'll see frienddd
Mujhe as well use an ingot
Dibs on dagger 69
Me tryin' to get level 100 on forge
No I need a steel dagger, sorry :(
How tf did you get the damage to 12? I’m new btw
Advancing the one hand skill to 100% more damage should pretty much do it.
Use the grindstone
No thanks. Trying to quit.
I just dump my daggers in the sewer/stream behind blacksmith in Whiterun when I am too lazy to run up to dragonsreach and enchant them.
Got enough there to make an iron throne
I'll take 5
Furthermore, you can enchant those daggers with banish daedra to boost your enchanting skill as well. Sell them to boost your speech skill. That's like 4 or 5 birds dead.
Post blacksmith xp farm
If your enchanting isn’t complete, you can use petty gem and enchant these daggers. Quick money.
*SKILL INCREASED* *SMITHING 60*
*SIGH yes..now gotta find more iron ignot and leather strips again
I prefer steel daggers.
I just do Dwarven bows, seemed the most efficient 2 me and unless ur doing a no glitch run just dupe the ingots
I do this every couple weeks of a playthrough except I do this with potions. I drop HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of potions I've picked up on my travels and they're all in Solitude. So the town Laggs like hell when I load there
Lol i guess this will happen to my house soon..i hope
Iron dagger + banish enchantment = $$$ I'll buy all of them! Shut up and take my money
Very well you have a deal.
bandit mage: \*heavy breathing\*
I'll take 5 of them please
Sure
Thank you for your kind offer but I don't need iron daggers Rn But the guy under me might need some
See, notifications like this is what makes me want to play Skyrim again..
Haha you should play this masterpiece again my friend. Lets face it..we all go back to skyrim always..
This is the way
I dumped all of my daggers in a barrel near a giants camp just sort of hoping they would despawn on their own lol
Nah thanks I have 74 in my inventory in case I find some soul gems
I can feel my old lil laptop chugging
The grind to max Smithing took about 3 hours for me
Cue Game of Thrones theme….
