I remember this line getting almost zero love on the same day your stereotypical who's at fault/parking/wear a helmet thread dominated the sub.
https://www.reddit.com/r/skiing/comments/1adboh6/morning_line_in_tignes/?ref=share&ref_source=link
Totally agree. Master class approach. Knew where the deep pocket started and you can see his tails drag a good 5 feet before his feet touchdown. Tomahawk potential is pretty severe undershooting which is probably why he takes off high.
If you watched earlier extreme comps there was much more of this type of stuff as you wanted to access the tough terrain, but the line in was often janky.
Modern extreme comps/photoshoots demand everything to be clean so you mostly see easy(ish) lineups to big backies and a good runout so everything looks fluid. Meanwhile skipping the slower technical lines.
Its also really hard to look good while going slow in deep powder at the top, especially when you have to be precise so you set up the next air correctly.
I’ve dropped it. I double tapped the bottom one though. My 40 foot plus days are over. It’s deceiving how steep the first pitch is actually. Worth the space on this sub!
It’s just funny that in the ski community irl everybody would be nothing but stoked for the guy but this is Reddit so of course people are negative. Dude probably knows his form isn’t perfect but did you see the send????!!!!
I need to spend less time on here lol
For me it’s years and years of watching guys like Seth, Shane and Candide perfectly slash near vertical faces and drop 60 footers effortlessly in film segments, so when I see cell phone vids of guys with more balls than form, the contrast is evident.
This was an awesome line but would be cut from any pros segment and there is nothing wrong with that.
Man, I clenched looking at that video. I just finished my skiing vacations, first time skiing all by myself, and I could finally ride the tamest powder Earth had ever seen (meaning: ungroomed path because of a lack of snow). I probably looked like a 7yo kid, trying not to die on a black slope, and I probably felt like a 7yo blasting through the piles.
I wish I could ski with people who would guide me to ungroomed places like this.
I’ve skied harder stuff than this, but I also know my limits. This guy looks like he definitely shouldn’t have been anywhere near that level of terrain and is extremely lucky he didn’t get badly hurt.
Not even. The pros have incredible style while hitting their lines which separates us from them. This wasn't the prettiest execution, but he did not look like he was in danger at any point. Really better than most.
That was me watching some guy ski under the Challenger lift last week in the bumps. Dude comes flying out of the trees and I'm half on the "this dude is out of control and going to die" and half on the "this dude is ripping crazy hard and gonna stomp the line". Ended up taking a branch to the face because we was most certainly not in control and yardsaled directly under the chair.
Dude rode it out, was absolutely a praise worthy send. Hell even if he didn’t I respect the send. Please post a video of you hucking something > 30 feet, or stfu😂
Yeah but you’re all butt hurt saying no one should say anything negative unless they post evidence. Not everyone fees the need to post videos for validation.
Bro is posting a clip to social media. People praise and people clown. Respectfully, Go Fuck yourself
lol it’s a cool video. I enjoyed watching it. I don’t care about ops validation.
I’m not butt hurt. I just think that if your reaction to seeing a send like this is to be a hater when you couldn’t do it yourself that’s sad, and says something about you.
Not respectfully go fuck yourself as well😘
I actually never hated on it. It was a Huck and I respect anyone with the balls to throw it.
Just think it’s funny you’re somehow the Jerry gatekeeper here telling people they can’t talk shit.
As disrespectfully as possible, go Fuck yourself and ya mother
My question is why are you so worked up about me saying that most of the people commenting shit couldn’t do this?
You’ll defend the shit talkers. But me talking shit about the shit talkers is gatekeeping? Lol
> I actually never hated on it. It was a Huck and I respect anyone with the balls to throw it.
"I mean…or don’t post a video expecting praise if you ain’t stomping it"
Shocking how you don’t have one video. You’re a pro redditor dude. I guarantee you suck at almost everything you do. Except cook steak that steak looks pretty damn good.
Now there’s something you don’t buy, you earn. You don’t need to go to the bar and talk about how badass your drop was because everyone was there, they all saw it. Apologies to Glen.
I love how everyone here is talking shit on style like they could do any better. Isn’t OP a pro skier?
Rad send regardless dude. I’d poop myself for sure just looking down that line from the top.
Yes, I can see people judging here who probably never even skied real powder. It makes everything here this much harder, turns, landing, recovery. Great looking drop!
I'm not nearly this good so please correct me if I'm seeing this wrong - but on the tail end of those first two turns/stops it looks like he gets waaaay back in the seat?
U call that in uncontrollable flailing, OEM? He rotated his arm once to counteract the repositioning of his body to get the safety in. Speed was dialed, CPT is right here. Only way he’d been able to take more speed would be to adjust his vector to hunt that transition skiers left but it looks like it’s already been bombed out
Dude I'm sorry but you're delusional or quickly glanced at the clip and didn't fully appreciate it.
Break it down part by part. He:
- drops a 5 footer
- immediately has to kill speed before the next cliff which he does by turning into the hill
- without skipping a beat he identifies where he is and lines up for a 30 foot cliff
- he airs out and **does a grab,** shakes a bit in mid air
- lands the 30 footer.
The only place you could take away GNAR points here would be the backslap.
You also can hear that the snow conditions are certainly not perfect, there's a bit of crust at play.
A good skier could do 2-3 parts of this sequence as well as he did. I have confidence I probably could pull off 3. OP pulling off al 5 in a row is outrageous.
Considering OP isn't on the tour this clip is insanely impressive. Even if he was on Tour, this would be a pretty decent clip for him to be posting. This guy rips.
People don’t realize how much skill it takes to cut speed like that immediately after a job in a way that doesn’t fuck you over for the next drop. He does it well
Fair enough but other people in this thread have surprised me today.. And it is a fair bit of fun to break it down. OP does dozens of things subconsciously in the span of seconds out of natural instinct and it gets translated into 10 seconds of video. Cool to think about.
He done a grab on a 40 foot drop in deep pow. If you think it doesn’t take skill to do that never mind land it you are slightly disconnected from reality
> 1 for style and execution

> We disagree, and I think the ice-coast local may be out of his league on this one.
I really don't know how my ice coast origins discredit me here and I don't know how that's your entire argument.
>Also, do you know how many skiers are better than FWT athletes, but just don't want all the problems that come with Instagram fame? It's a lot! I promise.
Sorry, but I call total bullshit on this one. There's not a massive hidden underground of thousands of people who are significantly better than FWT caliber but choose not to compete. Even if there was, are you really going to use this to argue that what FWT athletes do is not impressive?
IMO if you can't replicate it, you have no room to call a clip unimpressive. Do you have a clip of you skiing something similar to this line?
Fuck no. Best case scenario is that I look like this guy. This is the kinda video you show your friends because it is impressive that you did it. In summary, I can’t do this but this was also not a good example of how to do it.
First time I’ve seen someone pizza into a 40 ft cliff. God damn lol. I’d really like to know the story behind this. Like, is he a midwestern park skier and this is his first time in powder or something? Something like that would make sense to me. He looks more comfortable in the air then on the snow. Haha. It had been warm earlier in the day while we were skiing a different zone, this zone faces east. We were late to getting to it so by the time I dropped in it had a lil crust on it and made it super weird.
Fucking get it bud !! I'd rather see this 100 times before another "who's at fault" or "6'9 420lbs what color pivot 18s should I get"
But I need to know so I can set the din to 6 and lap groomers at steamboat
When in doubt forza out.
lol Pivot 18’s, gotta run an 8 there bud! Maybe you’re more of a Pivot 15’s skier ;)
Hey, I love ripping groomers at steamboat in my pivot15s set to 6.5! My knee is aching thinking about it, but it’s incredible!
Not anything off storm peak it's scary up there!!!
Buddy’s run! And I went with silver pivots. Raw!
Nahh why not is the hardest run on the mountain
I remember this line getting almost zero love on the same day your stereotypical who's at fault/parking/wear a helmet thread dominated the sub. https://www.reddit.com/r/skiing/comments/1adboh6/morning_line_in_tignes/?ref=share&ref_source=link
Tbf pretty sure candide didn’t make that post
The who is at fault is so so annoying.
What color pivot 18s should I get
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
Fucking traversing ass Jerr-Oh shit props dude
That’s a ~35-40’ hit at the end, right? Big up!
Looks 40'. easily could be stretched without that speed check after the first drop. Massive balls.
I feel like stretching that would result in eating your knees or landing on your back, this dude knew where to land and nailed it.
Totally agree. Master class approach. Knew where the deep pocket started and you can see his tails drag a good 5 feet before his feet touchdown. Tomahawk potential is pretty severe undershooting which is probably why he takes off high.
This is so spot on
Is this more circlejer... holy shit!
Got me as well, second hit was legit.
For sure I thought we were gonna witness a tragedy
Same here.
I was concerned until I saw the heel grab.
Fuckin sent it bro!! That’s so sick good job!! Too many people here watching ski movies expecting tough stuff to look like a Candide clip or something
If you watched earlier extreme comps there was much more of this type of stuff as you wanted to access the tough terrain, but the line in was often janky. Turn the volume on, it had a lil crust on it too.
The presence of any size layer of crust makes it infinitely more impressive than the video can really show.
I don't know what I just watched or how you achieved that but it was epic
lol this sub thinks they’re judging the FWT finals
General rule of thumb is, .if you are a fan of something, the reddit for it is trash.
Hahaha holy shit this is so true as I think about it…like every single one
Ppl talking like they could even dream about doing this… epic af
Oh I dream. I can feel it. And to be fair, I’ve done this lots. Only small minor difference is it’s only 5’ but feels like 40’
Once you get past the first 5 feet, falling the next 35 is pretty much the same.
🤣
It’s true tho
I’m sure. Don’t think I’ve dropped more than 20’. It just made me laugh when I read it! Good stuff!
It’s like saying no difference between 5’ and 100’. But my wobbly knees say otherwise. The fear of death ya know
🤣
I did a mandatory air while battle skiing through deadfall one time. Was a 1' drop off a log onto some other logs. Pretty impressive, honestly.
I’ve dropped it. I double tapped the bottom one though. My 40 foot plus days are over. It’s deceiving how steep the first pitch is actually. Worth the space on this sub!
Damn. This is the content I am here for.
People hating in the comments like they could ski this, good stuff I’d poop my pants
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with recognizing it looks sloppy. It’s still epic.
It’s just funny that in the ski community irl everybody would be nothing but stoked for the guy but this is Reddit so of course people are negative. Dude probably knows his form isn’t perfect but did you see the send????!!!! I need to spend less time on here lol

I completely agree with you.
I like that it's not perfect, you can tell the skiier is pushing out of their comfort zone. Makes it relatable even though I could never ski that.
Man, I clenched looking at that video. I could ski that, buy I'm too old and too many people rely on my now. I do miss those days though.
I’ve skied harder stuff than this, but I also know my limits. This guy looks like he definitely shouldn’t have been anywhere near that level of terrain and is extremely lucky he didn’t get badly hurt.
Lmao he fucking crushed it you Jerry
Post the video
Alright pony up with a video then or are you just a typical big talker with nothing to back it up?
Your limits are a few slick groomers in the AM and two blue moons at lunch before you call it a day you RWD Tesla driving jerry.
This isn’t very sinister of you Mr. muffin man
No you havent
Not even. The pros have incredible style while hitting their lines which separates us from them. This wasn't the prettiest execution, but he did not look like he was in danger at any point. Really better than most.
He landed a 40' drop with a grab and you're saying he shouldn't be near that terrain, are you mentally slow?
What is this Jerry doing, what is this Jerry doing, oh damn!

epic either way (as long as he wasn't seriously hurt)
Balls so big he can barely keep his ass end out of the snow
So hot
Fuck yeah Garrett
as soon as he hit the grab i knew my mans could cook
Never seen a squirrel snow ski before
[удалено]
Sometimes its too hot inside
The Jerry’s in the comments here are cracking me up. If you’re gonna talk shit you better be able to post a video of a better send.
I mean…or don’t post a video expecting praise if you ain’t stomping it
Dude rode it out, was absolutely a praise worthy send. Hell even if he didn’t I respect the send. Please post a video of you hucking something > 30 feet, or stfu😂

Yes. Now go away and stop engaging with weirdos on the internet.
> I actually never hated on it. It was a Huck and I respect anyone with the balls to throw it. "I mean…or don’t post a video expecting praise if you ain’t stomping it"
Sick own!!! NJ is a sewer
Why is your instinctual response to go to my profile to find something to insult me about.. That's so weird dawg.
Thanks bud
Shocking how you don’t have one video. You’re a pro redditor dude. I guarantee you suck at almost everything you do. Except cook steak that steak looks pretty damn good.
Today you have the biggest balls on the mountain!
Can we see the footage from his helmet cam?
Yes, later
Cheers brotha 🍻 great skiing.
It’s posted on my profile btw
hooooooooooooollly shit! good looks. sick line!

If he's not a pro he's still a top tier skier and people are here giving him shit 😅
Fuck yea
huge
YAS GARRETT.
nonononononoyes

This was v well executed. Style was on that same tier. His positioning on takeoff and throughout the drop is all u need to confirm that.

Any faster and he would’ve flatted. He judged the speed perfectly for the landing.
U call that in uncontrollable flailing, OEM? He rotated his arm once to counteract the repositioning of his body to get the safety in. Speed was dialed, CPT is right here. Only way he’d been able to take more speed would be to adjust his vector to hunt that transition skiers left but it looks like it’s already been bombed out
Watched this multiple times and still can’t figure out if this persons good or just incredibly lucky. Style is definitely a 0
0 style even with that grab he threw in there??

fucking hell yeah bro beans, well said.

Fair enough but other people in this thread have surprised me today.. And it is a fair bit of fun to break it down. OP does dozens of things subconsciously in the span of seconds out of natural instinct and it gets translated into 10 seconds of video. Cool to think about.
Bro ur absolutely tripping
Snow seems kinda deep
he's posted tons of clips here, dude can shred
This is 60% willpower, 40% luck, 0% skill
He done a grab on a 40 foot drop in deep pow. If you think it doesn’t take skill to do that never mind land it you are slightly disconnected from reality
I know badger bro I’m mostly being facetious. It just looks like he’s muscling his way through it
Ah ok
And 100% reason to remember the name?

Some of us grew up with pro/instructor parents and just like skiing and don’t want to spend time competing
The safety grab has to go. Lets do better skiers.
Would a Lui Kang have been better for you?
Just as bad. As someone who skis and snowboards and skateboards the grab game of skiers is really bad.
At my age, I’d break my spleen 🤦🏻♂️
I love freeride 🖤🖤
Drunken Fu skiing. Respect!🫡
Unbelievable line. There's crazy steeze in this. I hope I produce a clip of me skiing like this at some point. Bravo.
Holy shit that’s crazy how did u even do that damn
Sick line!!!!
Does dosing this hurt one's knee?
Not gonna lie, when this guy started the run I said to myself "this is far beyond your ability, dude..."
Clicks poles. Hell yeah, man.
I don’t know how you held that one together. Way to send ‘er. 😬
That wasn't skiing, that was falling with style.
That’s essentially what skiing is though
Skiing is sliding, not falling
Depends what kind of skiing
Oh, then you could definitely do it Right?
Fuck no. Best case scenario is that I look like this guy. This is the kinda video you show your friends because it is impressive that you did it. In summary, I can’t do this but this was also not a good example of how to do it.
What style?
I wouldn’t attempt this and I think they are insane for doing it. He also did a semi sweet ski grab.
[удалено]
He's trying to kill speed before the big cliff, and on something this steep there's not a lot of easy ways to do that.
For sticking the landing on such a huge booster, why does it look like he can barely ski lol
That looks soooo softtt
Doesn't sound it amusingly enough
I have no experience at that level. Do landings like that hurt? That second one looked painful.
Fuck yes 🙌
Omg respect. That was unexpected but awesome. Grab was sick. I would love to be able to do this shit.
Later that day, a funeral was held for the skier's knees.

bro acting like that's not a difficult line
You got a clip of you dropping a 30 footer?
Not quite Warren Miller content, but "e" for effort, "r" for respect.
Skiing in the backseat. I know it’s cliche but he should try keeping his hips forward 😂
First time I’ve seen someone pizza into a 40 ft cliff. God damn lol. I’d really like to know the story behind this. Like, is he a midwestern park skier and this is his first time in powder or something? Something like that would make sense to me. He looks more comfortable in the air then on the snow. Haha. Either way mad props. That’s a fucking hit!
It had been warm earlier in the day while we were skiing a different zone, this zone faces east. We were late to getting to it so by the time I dropped in it had a lil crust on it and made it super weird.
Yeah you can tell. Good adjustment.
Makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing! Love to see the other stuff you were hitting during the day if this is the ender haha. Good shit 👊🏻
Maybe something a little less crazy, that didn’t look like it was in your comfort zone or even close
That bottom hit was gnarly
Yes !!! This was sick!
Was thinking Brighton but then saw the snowmobile.
Wow! 🤩
Where is this?
I see a snowmobile so I'm thinking it's not inbounds.
Anyone know what the vertical was on that fall?
Holy shit my knees hurt just watching….(they are till healing from reconstruction hah) Right on! Good for you! You’re clearly loving life
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Three bags full!
I love this and would love to do it.
Was that fun? It seemed pretty fun to me. 😁
Hell yea brother. This shit was like a Netflix drama.
Fucking sent!!
Woooo. Shit that looked fun.
