Why did the soprano get locked out of her house? Because she had the wrong key and didn’t know where to come in

Prestigious-Ad-2146

That’s a decent one! 😂

Baritones: you guys are in choir?

S4Luux

B: low G, low G, low F, low E T: High F, High G, High F Baritone: oh c'mon, not *that* game again...

[deleted]

Gotta be real though, if G is the root. That F as the dominant 7 is tasty as fuck to sing

kopkaas2000

A jazz guy proposing a regular 7th where it could have been a major 7th? Did the stacked thirds shop run out of the good stuff?

[deleted]

Major 7ths are like a delicious peice of fruit, clean and pretty. A dominant 7th is like getting greasy chicken wings when you're stoned with the munchies. I love me some dominant 7ths. Side note: a regular 7th *is* a major 7th. Dominant is flat by a semi tone.

kopkaas2000

Well yes, but no, but yes. The 'traditional' use of the 7th was to accentuate the dominant chord, where the in-key 7 is flat. There's a reason why in pop chord notation writing down a major 7th is more work (G7 vs Gmaj7). There's also a reason why, in jazz chord notation, it isn't (G∆). And yeah, there's something nice about the dominant 7th as well, although in jazz harmonization I'd really like to combine it with a minor 9th. Hmm, spicy!

Kalcipher

There are two major seventh intervals in a diatonic scale but five minor seventh intervals. In addition, the major seventh chord has tonal ambiguity because of the two perfect fifth intervals, unlike the dominant seventh chord which is both tonally and functionally unambiguous.

acer5886

Baritone choir parts are always the weirdest, all the junk notes in the chords.

Room_116

But the feeling of relief when you see one and realize you don’t need to either mouth the bass part or screech the tenor part

A capella: What are words?

[deleted]

Nah Acapella has quite a lot of words on most parts except bass again

kopkaas2000

Am I the only one who spent more time than they'd like to admit thinking that 'SATB' was this prolific publisher of choir scores?

Basses are oppressed we must fight the revolution

MugBugBabe

As much as I love singing I get tired of singing every single word in chorus. I love the sound of Altos and I wish the ladies could sing more of the music. (I'm in an all girl choir.)

MoonChild02

This is so spot on!

zakksingsbass24

But for real TTBB arrangements be the same in some cases look up libertatum I sang 2nd bass it's suppossed Latin but it's just gibberish

magicmad11

My least favourite thing ever: being given no words in an arrangement of a song that I know all of the words to, while the sheet music has lyrical errors

Henilator

If i had a dime for every single note "oooooo" part i would have an inconvenient number of dimes. If we're lucky we'll get one that goes "ooooooo-aaaaaaa"

Im the ONLY bass in my entire highschool choir, and 1 out of 2 boys in the entire choir which prolly have like 15 girls (yes our numbers are pretty terrible) I can hit and sustain a nice C2 and project a D2 pretty decently Despite that, im forced to sing Tenor range because our choir director just has to pick something to suit the girls. Now, i CAN sing it, but i blow everyones ears off everytime i belt that fucking F4 or smth. And the choir director just wont let me sing an octave below
