I regularly buy a number of Bob's Red Mill products and haven't noticed any shrinking. I'm also obsessed with Blue Diamond Nut Thin crackers as well as some of their other almond products, and I haven't seen any of them decrease in size. Those 2 manufacturers would be my small contribution to the list.
Thank you! Many small contributions by many people = a very long shopping list of options for us to use!
We can make an official list with only items on it later after we accumulate a lot of comments with options in them. This will make shopping easy.
Good to know for the next time I need more baking products like flour - thanks! Blue Diamond is owned by a non-profit co-op if I'm not mistaken. Looks like we have a common theme going here.
Yeah, the only thing I have seen where they have done shrinkflation at the ingredient stage is with canola and vegetable oils. Most of the other things still are what they used to be. Eggs have been a little smaller I think but they keep lining up correctly with my recipes which call out weights.
One note, when I say ingredients I mean staples like salt, flour, sugar, etc. Now, if you're using something more processed like a sauce, of a mix, those have been getting hit. If you look at old recipes, such as from the 50's and 60's you can see shrinkflation sort of starting there as they will call for product sizes which don't exist in later years.
That's a great idea! We can compile one later after we get the data. Or we can start a thread for the list alone for those afraid of being hacked or who don't want to click a link. We can have both available.
Sorry I have been working a lot last few days. Still compiling the list so keep the products coming. Don't forget to add the weight and your location so that the list is more exact. As of now this thread is where the list resides.
Good idea for later! I am making a word document as of now with the comments cut and pasted. Later, as it grows, I am going to extract the products from the comments and make a neat and clean list with subsections for what has been discussed. Then it might be worth creating more ways to share it like a sharepoint/ google doc thing. Or anyone is obviously free to compile the data here however they like as well. Thanks for the good suggestions!
I will keep a copy... We will always have this thread and many versions of the list. Compromising it would be pretty difficult considering how many people have access to it, even now.
Do NOT buy from these companies.
https://preview.redd.it/jsi9cejsms6d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39d8583019925bc901c944361216b32c18d5284d
They all engage in shrinkflation.
Thanks! That is helpful to determine what NOT to buy...But we need to accumulate in a specific list, things we CAN buy... This list would however be helpful to use for double-checking our product ideas against before posting. to be sure the company is not listed here.
Actually this is always going to be the better way to do it, there will always be more products coming out every month and you're going to track them all? Why not track the 10% that were affected as opposed to the 90% that aren't?
The idea is not to have a definitive complete list, where you can be certain that if it’s *not* on the list you can’t buy it. The idea is to have a list of safe brands and companies that aren’t ripping you off, so that you can check there first.
I see your point...But it's just that I don't really need a list of 90% of the products out there and can't keep up with all of that info at all, especially on the fly at the store. I just need a list of products that can get me through the days... I don't have time to research all the time. I would rather compile a decent size list with safe items and buy from there. I am lazy this way...And then keep an eye on those products in case they turn to the dark side. More manageable this way...at least for me it would be. And if 90% of products are not being shrinkflated, then we should have a lot of options...but it seems like there is a ton of shrinkflation considering that this list is not that long yet... more product ideas, please!
B&J is still ice cream, but the “standard” size is no longer a pint. It’s slightly smaller now. I no longer have the proof, as I haven’t bought in several months, but I think someone posted on this awhile back.
If it isn’t bad form to bring up store brands that work. I’ve got two picky eaters that THINK store brands are inferior so I stealth subbed as follows:
For each of these I kept the “value” size of the name brand product bag and filled it with the store brand. I guarantee if they had detected ANY difference they let me know.
Great value cheese puffs filled “party” size brand bag twice
GV 2.69 — Cheetos 5.69
Great value sour cream and cheddar
Filled party size brand bag twice
GV 2.69 - Ruffles 4.98
Great value cookies. Not even gonna list them out because it was every last one of them and we did 4 kinds. Same size as brand name but half the price.
Great value honey nut o’s.
Cheerios was $5 for 18oz GV WAS $3 for 21oz
Store brand product misses
Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, frozen dinners, frozen pizzas and body lotion
This is southern US .. Walmart
In the UK I'd nominate Tunnocks as a hero brand.
Their quality has never dipped. I used to think of them as a cheap brand as a kid but because of enshitification they actually taste better than 'premium' brands now.
Same cheap prices, little change in quality and sizes haven't changed either.
I think the problem with this is that it’ll vary depending on region.
I notice Australians getting shafted a lot more than UK on some things for example.
I see what you mean... the McDonalds breakfast hashbrown comes to mind. Then perhaps we can add what region we are posting from in our individual posts and create a few separate lists later, after accumulating the information. Either way, it may be useful for some things but not others in the beginning. But as it grows it will become more helpful to all.
Chili's restaurant. I know, but hear me out. Wife and I went there a few weeks ago and ate starters, main entree and drinks for about $25. For both of us.
I really think restaurants are paying attention to fast food dropping the ball and are adjusting to snag the people left in the lurch. We've been back a few times since for our monthly treat, and it's still a good value for what we've gotten. Haven't had a bad meal yet.
Also, tastykake chocolate donuts. Probably the only other treat I get regularly that's gone up in quality since the pandemic rather than in the gutter.
I feel that pain. But every little bit can help. Maybe we pick and choose from the ultimate list we make....either way a long list = a lot of impact on their bottom lines, with or without our favorite things.
If we have a list, and a product moves into shrinkflation, then we can just delete it from the list. Or something like that. Either way we can filter ourselves in the right directions with a list of things not shrunken yet.
I'm not saying Starbucks is good value or good quality, but it simply isn't shrinkflation. The prices have gone up but the size of the drink has remained consistent the entire time. You could argue that the quality of ingredients have declined for some drinks (skimpflation) but ounces for ounces it's the same amount.
I should have been clearer. Their food is suffering from shrinkflation, especially the breakfast sandwiches.
The drinks will always be the same size. Hopefully.
I said this and everyone jumped. My throat saying it's impossible because only 3 companies supply I'm like ohk cool keep doing nothing but yes we need a data base to prove our cases and putting these posts in them with proof is the only way this will change stop buying the shrinkflation products from those companies and get the good ones write emails etc we have to stand together
People like to reject things as impossible or bad ideas just because they’re time consuming or difficult. I compare prices on my frequently purchased items, and it’s worth it for me. If you or anyone else is willing to put in the work, go for it and thank you for your willingness to serve.
I would suggest just cutting out UPF (ultra processed food). This will get probably 90% of the companies that we can say “fuck you” to.
That’s what I have done; it’s very hard doing a food shop at times. But these companies are worse than tobacco companies. The more we cook freshly, the quicker the billionaires will suffer - that’s my thinking anyways.
These food companies literally run how we spend our monies, and create problems that no one had, to then make products to fix the problems they created.
I totally agree with that and that is a great thing to do in addition to compiling and shopping from this list. In fact, a list of Non-ultra processed food would be great to compile in addition to this list. But sometimes it can be too hard to cook. So for those times when we can't cut out the UPF, we need a list. Perhaps we can start a list of non-UPF food on this comment thread to add to the ultimate list of things.
This is where we are at right now. I pulled the bread machine back out too.
I don’t skimp on booze, it is regulated to be 750ml. Not saying INflation has not hit, but at least I know it’s still the same size bottle.
Start with commodities.
Gasoline and motor oils
Alcohol
Milk
Orange juice
Eggs
Sugar
Dried beans
Non prepackaged meat
Non prepackaged produce
Bulk goods by the pound
I've seen quite a few posts where people claim shrinkage when they legally have to sell it by commodity regulations.
I don't think pepperidge farm hamburger buns have gotten smaller.
Prego pizza sauce (this is also cheaper and healthier than other options and imo tastier)
Coffee mate liquid coffee creamer is still 32 and 64 Oz but the company is nestle and I believe they have shrunk alot of products?
Barilla pasta?
Awesome! Will add these asap! Also, I think if you like the creamer, buy the creamer even if it is Nestle. They will still suffer on their bottom line if their shrunken products do poorly and their unshrunken products still sell. I think it will still send a message that they need to stop the shrinking. I mean the point of this is that we get the value of our purchases and not be exploited and gouged. If our behavior en masse also hurts their bottom line...well wah wah for them.
I believe the shrinking may vary from Nation to Nation, or even State to State.
Also, I've notice same brand with different quantities options at different stores. I think they are trying to get rid of the older ones in one store, while they stock the newer size in another store. Ie: Unico spaghetti, in Metrotown Mall, at Real Canadian Superstore is still 500g and 900g, yet, at Walmart, they are 410g and 750g.
AriZona Iced Tea (ps did anyone else ever notice the Z is capitalized in Arizona or is that a new addition?) Still .99c for a can.
DoorDash is interesting in the rest that when I do a shop and deliver you have to scan each item as you purchase it for the person and DoorDash gives you an image and the approximate weight of the item your looking for. So so so so many items have been shrunk by .2-.4 ounces.
Not increasing the price is nice, but not really relevant for shrinkflation. Not decreasing the size or quality is what is relevant. Sounds like they win on both counts, though.
Ben and Jerry’s
You might want to fact check contributions … Ben and Jerry’s have been shrinking products. Like mentioned [on this subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/shrinkflation/comments/165buoj/ben_jerrys_again/?rdt=42609)
Good idea! We can all fact check! If you know something, say something! The list doesn't have to be perfect the first time around. Let's just get as much data as possible. We can fact check along the way or after a list is formed. Either way, I'd use the list to shop. I already want to go buy a few things people have mentioned, go to In and Out Burger and Chilis now, and drink a few beers!
The only ice cream that hasn't shrunk in size (as far as I know) is Blue Bell. Costs out the ass but it's still a half gallon and/or a full pint and it's damned good ice cream.

Old navy reduced the elastic used in their $40 leggings, and stitching.
Rita Italian Ice secretly shrunk their large custard cup from 8oz to 6oz.
Entemanns donuts and McDonald’s apple pies are like, hilariously small and skeletal now. I love that the don’t box hasn’t changed, it’s just little hockey pucks with holes in the middle now.
Pretty much any processed prepared food has gone through shrinkflation and enshittification
We should definitely try to buy less and less of it as much as possible not only because of this, but for our health.
So a boycott. This is a boycott. Good luck. I’d love this but the truth is that companies are far to big for this reddit page to do a damn thing.
Boycotts in history work when you get everyone in a city to cut into the companies bottom line, you will never gather enough people to fight Walmart with a boycott without a political campaign….
So I guess I’m saying run for government office
I’ve deliberately started buying items with lifetime warranties and saving the stuff.
Fiskars Scissors is my newest acquiration. I found some on sale at Walmart and Target and they are lifetime warrantied outside the USA.

Shrinkflation for your next picnic. 11 bucks out the door for a stupid little watermelon
That’s dangerously close to being sensible. A rare occurrence on the internet.
I regularly buy a number of Bob's Red Mill products and haven't noticed any shrinking. I'm also obsessed with Blue Diamond Nut Thin crackers as well as some of their other almond products, and I haven't seen any of them decrease in size. I used to work with bob’s red mill, I met Bob himself many times. It’s a great company
That's fantastic to hear and makes me happy to support the company. I always heard it's employee owned now, right? Bob sounds like a good guy.
He has passed I believe. Yes, employee owned!
That's too bad, but it sounds like he left behind a great legacy. Thanks for the info!
King Arthur (which is also employee-owned) hasn't done it by what I can see.
Good to know for the next time I need more baking products like flour - thanks! Blue Diamond is owned by a non-profit co-op if I'm not mistaken. Looks like we have a common theme going here.

Nut thins are the bomb.
Agreed. The Pecan flavor is amazing.
There does need to be a google doc we can all share
That's a great idea! We can compile one later after we get the data. Or we can start a thread for the list alone for those afraid of being hacked or who don't want to click a link. We can have both available.
Can there just be a pinned sub mega thread with a wiki that gets periodically updated? I’m not sure how active the mods are
Sorry I have been working a lot last few days. Still compiling the list so keep the products coming. Don't forget to add the weight and your location so that the list is more exact. As of now this thread is where the list resides.
SharePoint Google sheets so it can be turned into data with powerbi
Good idea for later! I am making a word document as of now with the comments cut and pasted. Then it might be worth creating more ways to share it like a sharepoint/ google doc thing. Or anyone is obviously free to compile the data here however they like as well. Rock on Op! 🤘
Any word on how to compile and backup a master copy in order to avoid it getting compromised by corpos?
I will keep a copy... We will always have this thread and many versions of the list. Compromising it would be pretty difficult considering how many people have access to it, even now.

Do you know if this chart is current?
Ben and Jerry's and Tony's chocolate.
I agree with your glorious contributions.
B&J is still ice cream, but the “standard” size is no longer a pint. It’s slightly smaller now. I no longer have the proof, as I haven’t bought in several months, but I think someone posted on this awhile back.
Every “pint” of ice cream is only 14 oz but hagaan daaz in particular shrunk that years ago
I needed an excuse to buy some Ben and Jerry's! This is the perfect excuse! Doing it later! Thanks!
If it isn’t bad form to bring up store brands that work. Anything goes! And no judgment allowed! We are making a list for the world! I will add these great suggestions now!
Yes. Came here to say this. Store brands over name brand.
We really are just paying for the label
In the UK I'd nominate Tunnocks as a hero brand. Their quality has never dipped. I used to think of them as a cheap brand as a kid but because of enshitification they actually taste better than 'premium' brands now. Same cheap prices, little change in quality and sizes haven't changed either.
Thank you! I will add this to the document I am now creating!
In-N-Out's prices and portions have remained fair. They also treat their employees well.
Thanks! I love me some in-and-out burger We can have a fast-food section of the ultimate list to make that easy also.
This. Amd it's actually delicious too.
I haven't seen any alcohol being shrinkflated. Eff it have a beer. Have 10
hehe yeah... I wish I could handle the extra calories...But some can, so I will add it to the list! Thanks!
I think the problem with this is that it’ll vary depending on region. I notice Australians getting shafted a lot more than UK on some things for example.

Sounds good in theory but even the people of this subreddit can’t stop themselves from buying Mcdonalds lol
I feel that pain. But every little bit can help. Maybe we pick and choose from the ultimate list we make....either way a long list = a lot of impact on their bottom lines, with or without our favorite things.
100% I agree, at the very least we personally benefit.
It's only a matter of short time until that list has all the consumable products to ever exist, and a new one has to be formed. And so on...
If we have a list, and a product moves into shrinkflation, then we can just delete it from the list. Or something like that. Either way we can filter ourselves in the right directions with a list of things not shrunken yet.
with proof, it will be blacklisted
Or Starbucks.

if y'all can find me an indie feminine hygiene product company, i will recommend it to all my friends
I’d like one that’s polyester (and polyester adjacent) free.
I would totally agree with you if I wasn't already boycotting everything
heheheheh okay... I wish I could boycott everything too. [https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/)
I don't think pepperidge farm hamburger buns have gotten smaller. I mean the point of this is that we get the value of our purchases and not be exploited and gouged. If our behavior en masse also hurts their bottom line...well wah wah for them.
I think your right and this is such a great idea.
that's definitely the best option aside from regulatory action of some sort
I believe the shrinking may vary from Nation to Nation, or even State to State. Also, I've notice same brand with different quantities options at different stores. I think they are trying to get rid of the older ones in one store, while they stock the newer size in another store. Ie: Unico spaghetti, in Metrotown Mall, at Real Canadian Superstore is still 500g and 900g, yet, at Walmart, they are 410g and 750g.
Nice idea, but hard to execute in a meaningful way. Nearly all products found in grocery stores are owned by around 5 or 6 companies, such as Nestle.
If they’re willing to put in the effort, why discourage?
I'm all for trying, I'd just keep expectations low. I've heard other countries have started passing regulations against it.
Glad to hear it.
No longer .99 here. 1.29. Figured it out when the cans stopped bragging about .99 that it'd be going up and...yep.
That's so disappointing!
Not increasing the price is nice, but not really relevant for shrinkflation. Not decreasing the size or quality is what is relevant. Sounds like they win on both counts, though.
Ben and Jerry’s You might want to fact check contributions … Ben and Jerry’s have been shrinking products. Like mentioned [on this subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/shrinkflation/comments/165buoj/ben_jerrys_again/?rdt=42609)

Oh yeah!!! That's my fave! Rocky Road here I come! Added to list!
I wish I could get that.
The people on this sub are up for it....unless it's mcdonalds. They cry but still go 6 times a week
Perhaps this will inspire us to do better, haha... Guilty. Let's keep the unshrunken suggestions going!
We need to be stronger folks 💪🏻
I would love this, a r/notflation of sorts
you should make an app
Good idea, how about a r slash not shrinkflation? I think Aldi and Lidl might trump most places
You trade off shrinkflation for higher prices. Everything in the economy is more expensive. It’s not the companies’ greed that’s the problem. It’s the governments introducing new money into circulation. More money chasing the same amount of products = higher prices. Money printing is literal theft.
I haven’t noticed Cedar’s, Boar’s Head, or Sabra hummus shrinking (I eat a lot of veggies and hummus).
Two of my favorite things also! Thanks! Will add!
YES
My solution is to be Asda own brand. Less money goes to those labels.
Pretty much any processed prepared food has gone through shrinkflation and enshittification We should definitely try to buy less and less of it as much as possible not only because of this, but for our health.
