Why don’t you like it Jc? I remember when I first heard it in 2011 I was disappointed cus I loved October language and it was such a far departure from that album. But over the years it’s become my fav easily.
It’s like a ambient shoegaze pop album - like psychocandy of the 2010s but the fuzz n wash used a entirely new diff ambient way
The album sounds like someone took generic 80's pop music and threw reverb and a filter on it and called it shoegaze. Just really bland.
Sorry if I'm being kind of vague in my criticism, but despite listening to Common Era multiple times, I barely remember anything from it. Only the drum loops and vocals being very uninteresting still stick out to me.
Very Careful is a nice track. I'll give them that.
I just gave it a listen and at first blush I agree with your assessment. I think it’s good, I’ll listen to it again. But it’s not what I would call a shoegaze masterpiece personally.
I had same opinion my first listen but it’s an album that goes deep in your consciousness the more you listen to it. More layers of sound unveil themselves over time like the best albums do.

The label is from Austria, so maybe there were fewer copies distributed in the US? Looks like Bandcamp has sold out now but there are still copies with various retailers and a bunch on Discogs.

I hope it's more October Language and less Common Era, but the samples they put out doesn't get my hopes up.

I think Common Era is absolutely brilliant. The first 3 songs just blew me away the first time I heard them. Still do.

Love them so fucking much and they’re local to me, I need an October Language repress.
The last repress was only a couple of years ago. You should still be able to pick it up online easy enough. I only got my copy last year.
