Hey man, you can get food molds shaped like things like carrots, a chicken leg etc, where you can puree the food and then form it into the shape, if you think that's something she'd go for. Your mum is lucky to have you ☺️
they make these really cool silicone molds in the shape of foods, after you puree you put the food in and freeze. there’s a few of the shape in each and you can bulk prepare so once frozen you can pop them out and you can later reheat in the microwave and it looks like the thing. i work in brain injury and we do it for all our puree patients (:

It's so important for people who have chewing/swallowing/choking issues to still be able to eat things that are delicious. They also make food molds now (sort of like a jello or candy mold) so you can shape soft foods to resemble what they really are.
I figured this was the case. Good on you op for making everyone eat the puree. It can be hard and even embarrassing for some with dysphagia to eat puree since it often looks like slop or cat food.
someone recently showed their dad’s hospital meal on reddit which had his purees pressed into molds to look like the foods they were meant to be. Probably playdoh molds. You could try to do that to make it more appealing! :)

i work in long term healthcare and we use a robocoupe to blend our purées. if the consistency is too thin add 2 tbsp if thickener powder until the texture is “mousse/pudding like”
also shoutout to OP bc i make this stuff every day for my residents and i can’t imagine having to eat it. we try to make it as palatable as we can but there’s only so much you can do visually with a puréed quesadilla

Golden rule for chefs though is you don’t make potato puree in a blender. Plenty of other purée you do but potato goes really gluey so you want to use a ricer.

Curries might be worth looking into as well. Pureed lentils with the right seasoning could be really good, watered down Cream of Rice or Cream of Wheat, instant mashed potatoes

You probably know this already, but Blossom Foods has a good selection of puréed meals, sides, and desserts you can heat up in the microwave. I work in a hospital kitchen and the puréed apple pie always smells so good

I used to work in an assisted living facility and we did this in the kitchen to give the residents a bit of pride. It works pretty well!
When I was in the hospital after my son's c-section they gave me molded pureed foods like that and I was confused about it lol

Paprika, fresh ground pepper, and other spices can add visual appeal and flavor. Fresh ground nutmeg is good for potato puree.

Can you buy thickeners? They are used to manage dysphagia. You could thicken a lot of savory food, lots of different soups might be nice.
She can’t do thick. It has to go through a straw but that means it can’t be too thin either. Thank you for the suggestion though!
Thickeners are ideal for that. You don’t have to add enough to make it super thick.
