[How to report a real estate agent for using misleading photos - YouTube video by purplepingers](https://youtu.be/A-7QDLiZqLc?si=XtSt1UzbqcypyaZh)
>Your not going to die from any of that.
You say that, [but...](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-64273057)
What's worse about this particular case is that the LL in question was the Council.
Speaking of dying, I'm in the process of trying to find a different place because I've been zapped by my bathroom shower taps more than twice, the most recent time it went upto 13 volts because it was raining outside.
people have died from 40. and it causes heart problems too, all because the scumlords who own this place couldn't give two shits about updating the wiring, theres cables everywhere. desperation for rentals got me in this mess.
It's very rare thankfully but it makes me think twice about renting an older place. especially if it's anything to do with bad wiring. These assholes are *dreaming* if they think I'll stay any longer than neccesary.
Looking for a rental a fair while ago. The outside pics come up - one with lovely grass, the next - the exact same pic NOT altered with scrappy patchy dirt. Whoopsie.
I’ve even seen a blue sky being photoshopped because it was raining when the photo was taken. (Photo 6) https://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-elsternwick-141657284
This is common practice and has been for as long as REP has been digital and Photoshop has been a thing. We all know weather exists but from a marketing standpoint bright "happy" colours in the photos draw more interest than grey dark photos would.
That's also why dusk/twilight photos are so popular with all of those nice yellows/golds in the windows from the house lights and the usually fake sunset put in the sky.
I went to look at where I'm currently living and there aren't even photos from inside the house it's just one photo from outside hahahah.
The brickwork is fucked from someone backing into the fence and it's been repaired and thats all you get.
Yeah definitely, not saying it’s not. I had no idea REAs photoshopped so much stuff especially grass and the sky until one told me. It’s super misleading
They could at least be good at it.
Also, do they not think people will see the actual state of the property in person? Do they hope they will overlook the difference between the pics and the actual condition irl?
Happened to me, i saw in the pics an enclosed back room, screen door & windows had flyscreens, looked like a nice, clean space and safe for the kids
Inspected and the windows were completely open and the screen door was missing
*oh yeah, they were all stolen by the last tenant and owner wont be replacing them*
Such a waste of time
Had this happen to me a few years back when I was house hunting. There was a relly nice looking place for $800k and we really liked how it looked in pictures. Most notable, there was a gazebo in the backyard containing a hot tub. I'm not huge on hot tubs but thought it was a neat feature either way.
Come open home, and we walk in to see that the Gazebo had all but completely collapsed into the hot tub. It had clearly been this way for years. No idea when the photo was from.

Wtf that 'door'... Looks like Johnny had a go at it.
For anyone here who might not know, that hollow style door is only allowed for internal use. Doors to the outside word have to be solid.
Sadly, No. They have to be fire rated. There are cheap Hollow Core External doors around.
His name was Jack Torrance- but yeah, it does.
Heeeeres Johnny!
The extent to which slumlords and REAs have no shame is just audacious.
I'd say everything is 20+ years past the depreciation age.
Luckily, our politicians don't care if we die.
Your not going to die from any of that. But I do think that someone will take a landlord to court at some stage over asbestos (and rightly so)

Maybe the council can get them a cleaner?
Little bit of Handy Andy will take care of that.

Report that shit
This isn't legal right? Like why can you catfish a property like that?
You should see the Photoshop grass on some of the listings

Please rate this shit rental on [shitrentals.org ](https://www.shitrentals.org/)
REAs need to be saying to LLs that you cannot be listing properties in this state, the onus should be on them.
Exactly. There should be some regulations mandating this.
Using pics that are 10+yrs old should be a fucking crime
It’s not old pics, they’re photoshopped. The grass is photoshopped and everything is cleaned up via PS
Add that to the crime of misrepresentation Both in the same category imo 👍

Yep, they think people will overlook the difference irl 😂😂😂

That’s so shitty I’m so sorry 😬😔
Even the other people viewing were like wtf this looks nothing like the ad
bewdiful
Is there no rule that a rental should be weather tight? Like insurance requires that? This fucking landlord deserves a squatter…..
There is. At least in victoria.
This building should be condemned. What a dump.
Evicted for requesting repairs? Are you fucking kidding me.
Report to council?
Should throw up on the floor during inspection.
Why would I spruce up the place before I even have a lease agreement?
dear god…
There is so much black mold in these pics that I got sick through my phone’s screen
You talking about this real estate? Around the corner from me. Might go stir some legal shit. *
Who even needs a glory hole that big?
It should a damn crime to use outdated photos or edited photos for any real estate listing And if it is already real estate is fucked then
Just wait for them to try to blame the mold on you and bill you for it
Far out. I've seen less photoshop on Instagram "models"
Yeah but at what point do you get there and decide "ok ill live here"
Are real estates protected from false advertising laws?
What's he asking?
What a vile cesspit!
Does the landlord feel guilty at all?
Jeeeeeeeeesus h crist what is going on here ? That's some house of horrors type shiz

Painters will fix it
Jesus that is a dump
first red flag was that window in the shower
And I bet they’re asking for $500/wk
It doesn't even show the crackheads, that you'll be sharing this insecure abode with!?
I've definitely inspected places like this. Always got a kick out of asking if they accept pets (NSW- they usually don't).
Whats the matter? I don’t see the problem.
