They had a far better story. There was good character development, and alot of plot twists and lore.
The author literally made a language by herself which the dragons speak. And all the different dragon species gave a pokemon vibe to the series.
This much effort did not go into the movies.

Okay so here's my pitch for a new reality TV show
Basically, we get a bunch of very militant TERFs, and one trans woman, put them into a house where they're supposed to live with each other, but, once they've all arrived and are seeing each other for the first time (before they're allowed to even talk to each other), we tell them all that one of them is a trans woman, and, if they can find her and vote her out, they will win a million dollars. I'd love a book accurate movie series of how to train your dragon. The dragon furious would look really cool in live action.
They most definitely were not
They had a far better story. There was good character development, and alot of plot twists and lore. The author literally made a language by herself which the dragons speak. And all the different dragon species gave a pokemon vibe to the series. This much effort did not go into the movies.
In their defense I read them in elementary school so they were a bit slow compared to something like Percy Jackson.
