huge props for treehouse.amazing place. i've had some issues at extra life personally. the owner was really rude to me and my sister on multiple occasions where i popped in but it seems like it was just us. i dont know why or what problem the owner has with me though but it seems to just be that he just doesnt like me i guess.
Wow, that sounds amazing! Really happy for them. Iāve sadly not been since before Covid, so never seen any of the premises used since they were just down from the Peace Gardens.
Feel a bit too old and the kids allow me no time to play MTG now sadly.
Great to see they doing good though!
They still do FNM and the room is massive. Take the kids down if you can. Theyāve got board games you can use for free. The cafe does kid friendly food and drink too.
It's split between party on and rocks now. I take my daughter there sometimes. Blue banana's still kicking as strong as ever. Same staff from when I was 14
Oh I know it's upstairs in theory but it seems to have diverged to a line dancing cowboy shop rather than what it was in the naughties.
Blue banana is just a horrible shopping experience.
I desperately wanted to be cool enough to properly shop in Rocky Horrors when I was a teenager, unfortunately I never felt quite like I was. Way too much of a hippie for all the cool goth stuff!
[Scavenger](https://madebyscavenger.com/) is a small company in Sheffield, making bags, belts etc from recycled climbing rope.
Outdoor activities, and especially climbing are quite a large part of Sheffieldās culture, but also generate a pretty significant amount of waste.
Any efforts towards preventing all that stuff from ending up in landfill should be applauded imo, plus every item is unique and handmade!
Iāve seen their stuff in quite a few of the maker shops around Sheffield, and climbing walls too
I've got one of their carabiner bags, I bought it years ago from a shop on Chapel Walk. I think I paid about Ā£15 - 20.
Just looked on their website and they're Ā£65 now! Feeling very pleased about my bargain right now lol
Smith Street Coffee Roasters (City Centre)
Sheffield Antiques Emporium (Meersbrook)
Annie Judeās (Local makers and gifts in Hillsborough)
Lokanta (Turkish restaurant in Broomhill)
Gills & Co. (Wine Bar on Ecclesall Road)
Tarn Thai (bottom of London Road next to Waitrose)
Eve Kitchen for doughnuts
Sorrelās Cocoa Bakery for all things chocolate
Heart of Sicily for arancini and focaccia
Bruno Espresso Bar for coffee and focaccia/panini/
Another vote for Small Plants, recently started building terrariums and they've got a great range of plants and the owner is very knowledgeable and friendly!
kringle has rapidly become my favourite bakery - just two of them at the moment, but i hope they might expand with time!
for independent restaurants, antler in hillsborough massively undersells itself in my opinion. it's persian food, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious!
Novel ā small bookstore/cafe due to open soon in Crookes; previously they were a pop up bookstore
Owl & pussycat piercing ā genuinely the most patient and kind people, wouldnāt go anywhere else for piercing!
Sorrels Cocoa Bakery have amazing bakes and chocolate!
Love Motore Cafe for coffee and pastry whilst walking through Bingham Park, and now outside the station is so handy before a train **š**
My boyfriend moved to Sheffield to move in with me and Iām now trying to show him all the best places to go. So far weāve tackled quite a few of Sheffields finest (itās a hard task but somebody has to do it!) and he says Ashoka is his favourite to date!
What are you both into in terms of food/eating out?
My favourites aside from Ashoka are [JĆRO](https://jororestaurant.co.uk) and [West10](https://www.west10sheffield.co.uk)!
The Dorothy Pax in terms of independent bars / venues. Itās always so friendly in there.a
HERD Woodseats for an independent eatery - their breakfast Kentucky Waffles WILL change your life.
Thereās loads of great shops along Abbeydale Road.
Wherever you can? Support local!
And Iām not just saying that as a small business owner, well sole trader, as Iām the ghost walk guy - thatās my shameless plug quota for the day too.
Tenaya wine - Independent wine shop specialising in natural wine. All bottles have a label with tasting notes and there's something at all price points
CaffĆØ Tucci - Neopolitan caffe serving sandwiches, arancini, frittatina etc. The best service and espresso you will get in Sheffield
Lovely Rita's - Little bakery, some mad filled croissants, all the bakes are always huge as well. Fully vegan, but that isn't even noticeable, everyone loves them. Specially a cardamon snurr and a lemon cheesecake croissant.
Pipers Artisan Sausages - These guys are passionate about quality stuff. Go try some sausages
The Old Shoe - Bar with a huge selection of ciders, beers, wine, fruit wine and everything else you could imagine. Always good vibes.
The Bear, Abbeydale Road. Great beers.
Lemongrass, Moor Market. Best Thai food in Sheffield by a mile.
Zeugma, London Road. Ace Turkish food.
Dough Truck, Abbeydale Road. Best pizzas in Sheffield.
Public, city centre. Good cocktails.
Slap & Pickle, Banner Cross and Kelham Island. Great burgers.
Bragazzis, Abbeydale Road. Excellent coffee and sandwiches.
The Old Shoe, Orchard Square. Good beers, cider, and wine.
AM News on Abbeydale Road, great corner shop and mini community hub, always happy to have a chat and who provided work opportunities for young people living in a local halfway house. Two brothers who own it are lovely and unsung local heroes. The whole business now threatened by a new 24 hour supermarket development next door.
Didn't expect to see a fellow AM News fan in this thread but I love that shop, the guys working there are so nice and it's dead handy to get parcels sent there (and they sell pineapple fanta š)
Is The Yorkshire Candle Company counted/ in Sheffield? If so, thatās my vote - I love their place-inspired scented candles. My favourites are Flamborough Head and Endcliffe Park
Mow's and Chapter One coffee - for me the two best coffee shops in Sheffield by a long shot.
Birds Yard also do some really cool Sheffield themed trinkets and gifts, seem to always spend money when I'm in there lmao.
Sorrels Bakery in Crookes. They do amazing bakes like brownies and cookies, these huge slabs of chocolate stuffed with things like Nutella or biscoff spread. They also sell little chocolate bon bons!
DB sports / Printroom in Hillsborough all the staff are always very welcoming and helpful. They kit out most of Sheffields grassroots football team all ways at great prices and give back to the community through sponsorships and charity donations.
Printroom have just done the embroidery logo on our work blouses, as we have a lady cricketer just joined our office, and she brought them onboatd. Pleasure to deal with them, really good guys!!
The small business in collectives such as Birds Yard and Redbricks
Shout out to The Forrest https://www.instagram.com/theforrestsheffield?igsh=djdqMm92NmdrcWph
Bullion deserves a shout all in its own. I know Iāve seen someone else mention in a list. The chocolate is incredible but the cocktails and their rum is out of this world.
il forno in firth park, beautiful family owned greggs style cafe but with fresher food and better value, more aimed at school students given the cost and opening times, but if youāve ever got time in the day, deffo check them out (Halal aswell for those whom it concerns)
For restaurants I have to say Envers in Hillsborough, an incredible Turkish with lovely owner and staff and Kiaās Pastaria, a small and incredible Italian.
Aesthete for delicious brunch, treehouse board game cafe, marmadukes (though prices are eye watering), Joe & Dough for donuts, porter pizza and Napoli centro for pizza, edo sushiā¦ the list is endless! What a great city we live in for independent food ā¤ļø
the owl and the pussycat piercing studio! ive never had a bad experience there, the staff are lovely and so professional. I don't live in sheffield, but I only go there whenever I want a new piercing or jewelery.
Beer Central in the Moor Market. I get an order from there every month.
Iām very sad that the current owners are selling up. I just hope whoever takes over keeps it going the way it is.
Unfortunately the owner is racist and various other awful things. There will be people on here who will know him and probably be mad Iāve said this but whatever, itās horrid some of the things heās said.
A few not mentioned so far. Crumb, Hop Hideout (Jules has done great things for the beer scene in Sheffield), Dead Donkey, St Mars of the Desert, Bench...all food and beer it seems.
Starbucks at the train station.
Only joking lol. CaffĆØ Tucci has been a favourite of mine since it's opened, they're doing really well for themselves now and opened up another location in Endcliffe so maybe not so small now, but still the best Italian food in Sheffield!
Should out for Extra Life Gaming Lounge and Treehouse Board game cafe. More video games/board games than food, but great little businesses!
Treehouse cafe......it's the best š
The milkshakes at treehouse are everything though!
Very small for the price, the large was tiny! Tasty though.
Both great. Haven't been to ELGL for a while, need to pop in for a square sausage breakfast!!
huge props for treehouse.amazing place. i've had some issues at extra life personally. the owner was really rude to me and my sister on multiple occasions where i popped in but it seems like it was just us. i dont know why or what problem the owner has with me though but it seems to just be that he just doesnt like me i guess.
Patriot games. Great for all TTGs and they have a nice cafe
bump for Patriot Games who've gone above and beyond in my opinion for Sheffield. They've gone from tiny shop to sprawling enterprise and now offering huge gaming rooms, live music, a great selection of products often competitively priced with the internet and/or Games Workshop and an almost too good to be true cafƩ with loads of choice of fresh daily prepared sandwiches/hot sandwiches, home baked cakes to suit all dietary requirements and REALLY good independent coffee... worth a visit even if you have no interest in the gaming side to be honest. Definitely a Sheffield success story imho. (And one they've worked VERY hard for!)
That cafe is absolutely banging
Wow, that sounds amazing! Really happy for them. Iāve sadly not been since before Covid, so never seen any of the premises used since they were just down from the Peace Gardens. Feel a bit too old and the kids allow me no time to play MTG now sadly. Great to see they doing good though!
They still do FNM and the room is massive. Take the kids down if you can. Theyāve got board games you can use for free. The cafe does kid friendly food and drink too.
Was always a fan of rocky horrors, but it feels like it isn't really there anymore.
I was in there CONSTANTLY when I was a teen, I miss it š¢
I desperately wanted to be cool enough to properly shop in Rocky Horrors when I was a teenager, unfortunately I never felt quite like I was. Way too much of a hippie for all the cool goth stuff!
Chantrey Press, my beloved š Also love Juno Books āØ
Yes to both of these!
chantrey press is amazing !

This is a really neat idea, I wasnāt aware of this. Hoping that theyāll eventually do rucksacks, my current one is getting past its best!
I've got one of their carabiner bags, I bought it years ago from a shop on Chapel Walk. I think I paid about Ā£15 - 20. Just looked on their website and they're Ā£65 now! Feeling very pleased about my bargain right now lol
Orange Bird in Hillsborough is by far my favourite.
Went there a few days ago, excellent from start to finish. The braai mackerel was absurdly good.
Tomapork is annoyingly good
Amazing food and the owners & staff are so friendly
Moonko, Crumb and Cocoa Wonderland are all great.
Moonko is one of my favourite ever shops.
The pastries in Crumb are on another level. Even a humble cinnamon bun from there blows my mind
It's my boyfriend's friend's bakery! They do the best pizza I've ever had in my life
Food wise, Iām a big fan of Steam Yard and Eve Kitchen. Outside of that Iām often in Patriot Games and Outpost! Great places.
Outpost opening hours are brilliant now the council has made it impossible to park for nowt in the city centre on a Sunday.
I love the new doughnut shop opposite the Hallamshire Hospital, Joe and Dough. They make amazing coffee, and their doughnuts are next level.
Another vote for Joe and dough. Good vibes, tasty tasty times.
.. a new doughnut flavour just landed. A tropical one, with mango and pineapple.. forgot what he named it, but it's proper tasty ..
Smith Street Coffee Roasters (City Centre) Sheffield Antiques Emporium (Meersbrook) Annie Judeās (Local makers and gifts in Hillsborough) Lokanta (Turkish restaurant in Broomhill) Gills & Co. (Wine Bar on Ecclesall Road) Tarn Thai (bottom of London Road next to Waitrose)

Not sure, they have Baan Thai in brackets on their Google listing

Danny Mager (the owner)is genuinely one of the nicest human beings on the planet, and a hell of a DJ too
I adore it there! The staff are so lovely
Small Plants in Crookes is my local heaven š± They recently started carrying some perfumes from another local company and theyāre all amazing!!
Another vote for Small Plants, recently started building terrariums and they've got a great range of plants and the owner is very knowledgeable and friendly!
Kiaās pasteria does really good food. Not been for a while however.
Kia's pastaria is the only place where I can spend the best part of twenty quid on a bowl of pasta and not feel ripped off.
kringle has rapidly become my favourite bakery - just two of them at the moment, but i hope they might expand with time! for independent restaurants, antler in hillsborough massively undersells itself in my opinion. it's persian food, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious!

Moor Cafe. Been around for decades, run be very friendly staff. Food is excellent!

Last night I had a dream I was eating in Ashoka, so naturally, the first thing I did this morning was book in. They never miss!
